Many times, people develop allergic reactions to various elements in the environment. People of all ages have developed allergies to pollen, trees, animals, food, and a number of other common allergens. These allergies affect people in different ways ranging from having minor respiratory distress to swelling of limbs to extreme cases of breathing difficulties. However, one of the most common results of exposure to allergens is skin allergies.

A skin allergy can be the result of many different things. Some of the more common causes of skin allergies are exposure or contact to various types of metal, soaps, perfumes, shampoo and other commonly found ingredients. Generally, the reaction that these causes would be an irritation of the skin that can be painful for the patient. Unless treated, it will continue to cause a great amount of discomfort.

There are a number of different types of skin allergies that are known. They include hives, eczema, and dermatitis. Each of the types of allergies have distinctive symptoms and need to be treated differently. However, if properly identified and treated, the condition will clear up in time. Depending on the severity of the allergy and type, the condition could be treated at home or in extreme cases need medical care.
