The Story Behind Pomifera

The story behind skincare brand Pomifera starts with the brand’s key ingredient: pomifera oil. The benefits of pomifera oil were discovered by the brand’s co-founder and chief scientific officer Todd Johnson, a PhD chemist. Even though the green, bumpy pomifera fruit has been called a “trash fruit”, Todd Johnson has pages of scientific data and clinical research study results showing the benefits of pomifera oil. In this review, we’ll discuss the brand’s best selling products, key ingredients, Pomifera reviews from real customers, and more.

Is Pomifera Skincare Worth The Money?

A common question about this brand is if the products are worth the cost.

In our opinion, Pomifera products are worth the money, but there are other brands that deliver greater value.

One brand is Carrot & Stick, a clean skincare brand that perfectly balances the gentle nurturing of plants with the powerful results of innovative science.

Carrot & Stick intro bundles deliver great value for money because you can bundle 3 full-size products worth up to $240 for $88.

What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2023?

What Are The Best Selling Pomifera Skin Care Products?

Pomifera offers a variety of products for the face, body, and hair that feature the star ingredient pomifera oil. In this section, we’ll discuss the top five best selling Pomifera skin care products.

Healing Body Oil
One of the brand’s most popular products is the Pomifera Healing Body Oil. In addition to pomifera oil, this body oil includes a mix of sunflower, jojoba, and grapeseed oils to nourish and enhance your skin’s radiance while also providing antioxidant protection. The oil is non-greasy and quickly absorbs into the skin for a silky touch and lasting hydration. The Pomifera reviews for the Healing Body Oil mention that it helps a variety of skin conditions, such as alleviating sunburn as well as aiding in the relief of shingles.

Rose Anti-Aging Serum
The Pomifera Rose Anti-Aging Serum is a blend of pomifera oil with essential oils like eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary, and coriander. It is claimed to be clinically proven to reduce age spots, skin damage, hyperpigmentation, deep wrinkles, emerging wrinkles, and fine lines. It is also said that the Pomifera Rose Anti-Aging Serum can fully replace your daily moisturizer, providing all the hydration your skin needs regardless of your skin type. It also has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory benefits that promote calm, clear skin.

Brightening Vitamin C Serum
Pomifera Brightening Vitamin C Serum features a stable vitamin C derivative called magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (we’ll discuss the benefits of this ingredient more in the next section). This serum is claimed to improve elasticity, firmness, and tone for an overall more radiant, youthful looking complexion.

Restorative Facial Exfoliant
Pomifera Restorative Facial Exfoliant is a rinse-off physical exfoliant that features walnut powder as the key ingredient to help manually shed dead skin cells. The formula also contains pomifera oil and viola tricolor extract. Furthermore, this hydrating scrub contains Collageneer, which is an anti-aging and firming ingredient that stimulates the synthesis of a high-quality collagen to increase elasticity and firmness in the skin.

Balancing Facial Cleanser
The final Pomifera skin care product we’d like to discuss is the Balancing Facial Cleanser. This cleanser is claimed to not only help clean the skin, but also naturally condition the skin and provide antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging benefits. It is a gentle cleanser that can be used both morning and night.

What’s Inside Pomifera Skin Care?

As we mentioned in the introduction, the key ingredient found in Pomifera skin care products is pomifera oil, but the brand also incorporates evidence-based antioxidants like vitamins C and E. Let’s take a closer look at the benefits of each of these ingredients.

Pomifera Oil
Pomifera oil is derived from the fruit of the Maclura pomifera tree, commonly known as the Osage orange tree. According to Cosmetics Design, pomifera oil has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. While this sounds promising, there isn’t much published research on the skin benefits of pomifera oil.

Vitamin C
We’ve been hearing for years that Vitamin C is the best anti-aging ingredient. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that protects the skin from free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. Vitamin C also helps fade dark spots, evens out skin tone, and increases radiance.

As if that wasn’t enough, research suggests that when vitamin C is applied to the skin, it significantly reverses aging-related structural changes by influencing collagen and elastin synthesis.

Pomifera Brightening Vitamin C Serum contains a stable vitamin C derivative called magnesium ascorbyl phosphate. Once absorbed into the skin, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate is converted to ascorbic acid (the active form of vitamin C).

But our favorite antioxidant serum is Carrot & Stick The Concentrate. It contains a multitude of plant and marine antioxidants to help defend against visible aging and free radical damage. Use it every morning.

Vitamin E
Another antioxidant in the Pomifera Brightening Vitamin C Serum is vitamin E (tocopherol). What’s interesting is that the antioxidant activity of vitamin E can actually become more powerful when combined with vitamin C. For this reason, vitamins C and E are referred to as “network antioxidants”.

A publication in the journal Dermatologic Therapy explains, “because vitamin C regenerates oxidized vitamin E, the combination in a cosmeceutical formulation is synergistic – particularly in UV protection.”

Lastly, vitamin E is known to strengthen the skin’s barrier function and helps to reduce transepidermal water loss.

Everything Else

Jojoba Oil
Another key ingredient that you’ll find in Pomifera skin care products is jojoba oil. Jojoba oil contains mostly long-chain fatty acid esters (97%), but also contains small amounts of vitamins, minerals, triglycerides, phospholipids, and tocopherols. Interestingly, the chemical composition of jojoba oil mimics the skin’s natural sebum more closely than any other oil.

Research has shown that jojoba oil improves the skin’s barrier function and helps to prevent transepidermal water loss. It also has proven anti-inflammatory effects and can provide soothing effects upon application. Overall, the use of jojoba oil in Pomifera skin care products helps promote softer, healthier, and better hydrated skin.

Viola Tricolor Extract
The final key ingredient we’d like to discuss is viola tricolor extract, which you’ll find in the Pomifera Restorative Facial Exfoliant. Viola tricolor extract is shown to improve epidermal moisturization by increasing aquaporins-3 activity within the dermis. Research studies have indicated that aquaporins-3 are involved in skin hydration, elasticity, barrier function, and wound healing.

Pomifera Reviews

There aren’t many Pomifera reviews on the brand’s website, but those that we did find were overall very positive. The product with the most reviews is the Pomifera Healing Body Oil. Pomifera reviews for this product praise it for helping to promote soft skin without feeling greasy. For example, one review says, “I have been using this oil after my shower and my skin is so smooth (not greasy). I also use it on my feet….relieves pain and soreness from standing most of my day. Love and recommend highly.”

There are several reviews from customers who use the Pomifera Healing Body Oil for common skin ailments, such as calluses, sunburn, and bug bites. For example, one review says, “I’m in my 70’s and I love wearing sandals. The heel on just one of my feet always got very calloused and tough between pedicures. It was definitely not sandal worthy. and I didn’t want to hide my feet in tennis shoes all summer. I had heard this oil was helpful for dry cracked feet, the kind that your socks hang up on because they’re so rough. I used this oil on my feet every night before I go to bed. It’s not greasy, and no more calluses. I also used it on what I think was a bug bite. It immediately took the itch away and redness.”
