The Story Behind Pai Skincare

Pai Skincare was founded by Sarah Brown, a former PR manager turned skin care expert. Sarah was inspired to create her product line after her battle with irritated, hypersensitive, and acne-prone skin. She was tired of trying “hypoallergenic” and “organic” products, only to be let down by their ingredient lists full of synthetics and known irritants. That’s why Pai Skincare products are made with effective, organic ingredients that are formulated specifically for those with sensitive skin. In this review, we’ll discuss a few of the brand’s best selling products, key ingredients, Pai Skincare reviews from real customers, and more.

The Top 5 Pai Skincare Products

You can shop for Pai Skincare products by concern (e.g. blemish prone skin, psoriasis, rosacea, etc.) or by product type (e.g. cleanser, moisturizer, oil, serum, toner, mask, exfoliator). Let’s take a closer look at the top 5 best selling Pai Skincare products.

Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil
One of the most popular Pai Skincare products is the brand’s rosehip oil. This highly concentrated blend of organic rosehip fruit and seed oil can be used by all skin types, including eczema-prone skin. It is said to help restore balance and regenerate skin without irritation.

Kukui and Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator
This Pai exfoliator is said to gently polish the skin with a 100% natural, microbead free formula in order to reveal a brighter complexion. This exfoliator can be used by all skin types, including eczema-prone skin.

Perfect Balance Blemish Serum
The Pai Perfect Balance Blemish Serum is a nightly facial serum for those with acne prone skin. It is claimed to reduce sebum production by up to 65%, calm inflamed blemishes, and protect skin’s moisture barrier to prevent dry patches.

Echium and Argan Gentle Eye Cream
This Pai Skincare eye cream was formulated to improve the appearance of fine lines, regenerate the delicate eye area, and help soothe areas of irritation. This eye cream can be used by all skin types, including eczema-prone skin.

Avocado and Jojoba Hydrating Day Cream
According to the brand, the Pai Avocado and Jojoba Hydrating Day Cream is their best moisturizer for dry, sensitive skin. It is a non-greasy cream that is said to provide long-lasting hydration, leaving the skin calm, supple, and soft.

What Are The Key Pai Skincare Ingredients?

Pai believes that what they leave out of their products is just as important as what they put in. That’s why Pai Skincare products are free from parabens, alcohol, phenoxyethanol, petrochemicals, detergents (SLS/SLES), and artificial fragrance. As for the ingredients that you will find in Pai Skincare products, we noticed that the brand does not use just one key ingredient in their products. Rather, you’ll find a variety of botanical extracts and oils in Pai Skincare products. Below we’ll discuss a few of the key ingredients in the best selling Pai Skincare products we introduced above and how they will benefit your skin.

The Pai Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil provides the skin with a highly concentrated dose of rosehip oil, a multi-tasking skincare ingredient. According to Healthline, rosehip oil contains provitamin A, mostly as beta carotene. Beta carotene has the ability to increase cell turnover and promote regeneration in the outer layers of the skin. Over time, this can help even out skin tone and add a glow to the skin. Rosehip seed oil also contains all-trans retinoic acid (a vitamin A acid) that stimulates cellular regeneration and collagen production within the skin. This improves skin texture and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Rosehip seed oil also has a high content of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is known to improve the skin’s barrier function and calm inflammation.

Jojoba oil is another botanical oil that the brand uses in several of their products, for example, the Pai Avocado and Jojoba Hydrating Day Cream. Jojoba oil is unique in that it mimics the skin’s natural sebum more closely than any other oil. According to the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, jojoba oil can improve the skin’s barrier function and helps to prevent transepidermal water loss. It also has proven anti-inflammatory effects and can impart soothing effects upon application.

Even though Pai Skincare does not use artificial fragrances in their products, we’d like to point out that the brand does use fragrant essential oils and extracts in their products. They may include these essential oils to make the products smell better or for their purported benefits. Regardless, the use of fragrant essential oils is problematic because they have the potential to cause contact allergies, skin irritation, and even skin damage. In fact, according to a 2016 publication in the scholarly journal Dermatitis, nearly 80 essential oils have caused contact allergy. This is because all fragrance ingredients (whether natural or synthetic) impart scent through a volatile reaction, and this natural reaction almost always causes a sensitizing reaction on skin. Even if you don’t have a full blown reaction to the ingredient, the damage may still be occurring every day. Ultimately, this can cause mild problems for your skin in the short term and worse problems in the long term.

Where to buy Pai Skincare?

Pai Skincare products are sold on the brand’s website, as well as several third party online retailers such as Sephora, Amazon, and more. Pai Skincare is also sold in brick and mortar locations across the United States and Europe. The brand has a store locator on their website so you can find a location that sells Pai Skincare products near you.

Is Pai Skincare Cruelty Free?

Pai Skincare is cruelty free and the products are officially Leaping Bunny Certified. Leaping Bunny Certification means Pai Skincare products are free of animal testing at every stage of product development.

I bought this products because it sounded amazing, natural ingredients etc. – but I have oily/mixed skin and this oil didn’t do any good. I only used it twice and my skin broke out even more. I got pimples in areas where I never had. Very disappointed as it looked very promising. Probably only for people with very good skin.
