Gold Bond Crepe Corrector Review

SKIN CARE REVIEWS

12.10.22DISCLAIMER

Gold Bond Crepe Corrector is an anti-aging body lotion that was created to address aging skin that has lost its ability to retain moisture, leading to finely wrinkled, dry, thin skin—like crepe paper. In order to determine whether or not Gold Bond Crepe Corrector can help to improve the look and feel of crepey skin, we’ll have to evaluate the formulation and see if the ingredients are supported with research. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do in this Gold Bond Crepe Corrector review.

Who is Gold Bond Crepe Corrector For?

Gold Bond Crepe Corrector can be used by all skin types, including those with normal, oily, combination, dry, or sensitive skin. It is a solution for the following skin concerns:

  • Crepey skin
  • Dry skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

The brand claims that “stress response proteins” and vitamin E are the key ingredients in Gold Bond Crepe Corrector that help to correct crepey skin. The formula does contain both of these ingredients, as well as many other supporting ingredients. Let’s take a closer look at the research that supports the purported benefits of these ingredients.

What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2024?

What Are The Key Ingredients in Gold Bond Crepe Corrector?

For being a drug store body lotion, Gold Bond Crepe Corrector actually contains a pretty decent combination of beneficial ingredients, including hydroxyethyl urea, dimethicone, petrolatum, stress response proteins (selaginella lepidophylla extract), and AcquaCell. Below we’ll discuss how these ingredients may benefit your skin.

After water, the highest concentration ingredient in Gold Bond Crepe Corrector is hydroxyethyl urea, a synthetic ingredient that functions as a humectant moisturizer. A humectant is a hygroscopic substance that has a molecular structure with several hydrophilic groups. This structure allows humectants to attract and retain the moisture in the air nearby via absorption, drawing the water vapor into or beneath the surface. Therefore, hydroxyethyl urea is an excellent ingredient for dry skin that is in need of hydration.

In fact, studies have found that hydroxyethyl urea can deliver moisturization efficacy comparable to glycerin, one of the most common humectants used in skin care products. Humectants also provide temporary anti-aging effects because the extra hydration is extra volume, which effectively plumps out the skin and makes lines and wrinkles less noticeable. However, this effect is transient – as soon as the moisture content in skin decreases, lines and wrinkles will return to normal size.

There’s a high concentration of dimethicone, a type of silicone, used in Gold Bond Crepe Corrector. Silicones give products a silky, smooth skin feel. Silicones also form a protective covering on the skin that provides both water-binding and water-resistant properties. Furthermore, the smooth, even base that is formed helps other beneficial ingredients traverse through it to the skin more easily as well as prevent contact with potentially irritating ingredients.

Petrolatum, commonly known as petroleum jelly or Vaseline, is another key ingredient in Gold Bond Crepe Corrector. Petrolatum is an occlusive agent that reduces the rate of water loss through skin. Since petrolatum has a melting point that is close to body temperature, it softens upon application and forms a water-repellant film around the applied area. This film prevents evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture and increases skin hydration by causing buildup of water in the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of skin).

Gold Bond Crepe Corrector also includes “Stress Response Proteins” from the Resurrection Plant (Selaginella Lepidophylla) natively found in the Chihuahua Desert in Mexico. The Resurrection Plant can survive in the harsh, dry desert climate by curling up into a tight ball to conserve water, which gives the plant the appearance of being dead. However, when exposed to moisture again, it springs back to life. This property imparts excellent moisture-binding ability within the skin as well.

The final key ingredient in Gold Bond Crepe Corrector is AcquaCell, a natural complex combining watermelon rind extract, lentil extract, and apple extract. Watermelon rind is one of nature’s few materials to contain citrulline. Citrulline is essential to the functioning of filaggrin which forms a critical part of the skin’s own water based moisturizing complex. The lentil extract contains vitamin B5 and trisaccharides. The apple starch is a source of polysaccharides, sodium lactate and sodium PCA. All of these ingredients work together to increase skin hydration.

The only problem that we noticed with the Gold Bond Crepe Corrector formula is the inclusion of one paraben (methylparaben). Parabens are preservatives used to extend the shelf life of a product by preventing microbial contamination. The use of parabens in cosmetics and skin care products is controversial because there is conflicting research on the potential health consequences of long term exposure to parabens. According to the EWG, parabens can act like the hormone estrogen in the body and disrupt the normal function of hormone systems affecting male and female reproductive system functioning, reproductive development, fertility, and birth outcomes. Parabens are easily absorbed into the skin, which means that continuously using products that contain parabens could lead to elevated estrogen in the body. We recommend products that are free from parabens, as well as sulphates, and formaldehyde. One brand is Carrot & Stick. We recommend Carrot & Stick The Moisturizer.

Gold Bond Crepe Corrector Reviews

There are many positive Gold Bond Crepe Corrector reviews from customers who noticed that this product does help to reduce crepiness and improve hydration. For example, one review says, “I had to try this…… Sure enough this stuff really works. I saw a huge difference in my skin within the first day of use. Now I’m on day 4 and I can really see a lot of difference than before. The crepiness of my skin is actually smoothing out. I am amazed and would recommend it to everyone who wants their skin to look better. BECAUSE IT WORKS!”

There aren’t many negative reviews for Gold Bond Crepe Corrector, but those that we did read were from customers who were disappointed because they didn’t see the results they were hoping for. For example, one review says, “I don’t see any real changes with this cream. It looks minimally better when first applied but has no long-term changes.”

I broke out in a severe rash 1/2 hour after putting it on. The only allergy I have is to latex, so I have to think there is latex in it even though I didn’t see it on the ingredient list.

Theresa – I had the same result as you. After using this product on my arms, I developed a distinct and very itchy rash. I have no known allergies and wonder which ingredient is the culprit.

I have been using Gold Bond products for several years. I just started using their moisturizer for crepe skin. It is well worth every dollar spent. I love it and it is absorbed into the skin quickly. Really makes your skin look and feel smooth.

Same thing happened to me, but after I used it for over a year. The itching is horrific and yes, gets worse at night. Had red welts on my shins, arms & neck.

  • Glenn Carter Original review: Apr 13, 2023. Reply

I have tried this a few times and have gotten rashes from it every time. Right now I have rashes on the backs of my hands, and the last time I used it was about a week ago. The rashes take a few weeks to go away. Guess I learned my lesson and won’t be using this product any more. I’m glad it works for people, but it doesn’t agree with me, for some reason.

52 year old female here. I can’t use Gold Bond Crepe Corrector OR the Gold Bond Neck and Chest lotion. I thought it was only the neck and chest that made me break out in hives, but the same thing happened on my arms from the Crepe Corrector. Extremely itchy hives. So, that’s it for my Gold Bond experience.

I purchased this product because my skin is dry and crepey looking. So far, I have been very pleased with the results. The lotion goes on beautifully and smoothly.
The skin absorbs it very quickly, so one is not left feeling greasy or weighed down with the use of this product.
It is the best lotion I have used to date, and I have tried too many without a good result. I love how it makes my skin look and feel, so I will continue to faithfully use it.

I agree 100%!!! I used an entire tube, also, and saw no change. It’s not worth buying. Save your money! I think it’s ashame the way people are deceived and lied to just so the makers and sellers can take advantage of buyers by lying to them just so they can make a profit.
