The story behind Environ Skin Care

Environ Skin Care is a globally recognized professional skin care brand that was created on the belief that skin has life and that vitamin A is the “oxygen” it needs to look beautiful and healthy for life. That’s why Environ Skin Care specifically focuses on formulating vitamin A based skin care products. In fact, Environ Skin Care was founded by the first person to successfully use vitamin A and antioxidants in a cosmetic product: Dr. Des Fernandes. Rated amongst the top five plastic surgeons in the world, Dr. Fernandes combined his experience with his idea for incorporating vitamin A into all different types of skin care products to create Environ Skin Care in 1990.

What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2021?

Environ Skin Care products

Environ Skin Care currently offers three different skin care collections:

  • Essential Care Ranges
  • Focus Care Ranges
  • Even More Range

Each one of these can be broken down further into different categories. For example, the Essential Care Ranges include Youth Essentia, Skin Essentia, and Body Essentia. The Focus Care Ranges includes six subcategories (Youth, Moisture, Comfort, Radiance, Clarity, and Skin Tech). Finally, the Even More Ranges include Sun Care, Cover+ Concealers, and Hydra+ Foundations.

Clearly, Environ Skin Care wants to offer consumers a variety of products to suit very specific skin care needs and concerns. This may seem overwhelming since there are so many ranges and products to choose from, but remember that Environ Skin Care is a professional skin care brand that can only be purchased by trained Environ Skin Care Professionals. After finding an Environ Skin Care Professional near you, he or she can help you choose the best product line for your unique skin type and concerns.

What are the key ingredients in Environ Skin Care?

As we mentioned above, vitamin A is the cornerstone ingredient in the Environ Skin Care philosophy. If you aren’t familiar with the use of vitamin A in skin care, we’d like to provide you with a brief overview so you’ll know exactly how Environ Skin Care products affect your skin.

Vitamin A, also known as retinol, is a nutrient found in certain foods, and can also be synthetically made as a dietary supplement or for use in topical formulations. According to Environ Skin Care founder and scientific director, Dr. Des Fernandes, “Aging skin is a direct result of sun-induced vitamin A deficiency. Correct the deficiency and you’ll have more radiant looking skin.”

Indeed, it has been proven that vitamin A can provide the following benefits:

  • Minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improve uneven skin tone
  • Restore skin firmness
  • Shrink the appearance of enlarged pores
  • Promote the effects of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor (NMF)
  • Support the effects of the skin’s immune system and help prevent the appearance of breakouts
  • Strengthening the effects of the skin’s outer layer
  • Assist in reducing the likelihood of the development of potential skin cancers

So how exactly does vitamin A provide all of these benefits? After you apply a vitamin A skin care product, vitamin A (retinol) is first converted to retinoic acid (its active form) after being absorbed into the skin. Then, retinoic acid interacts with the retinoic acid (RAR) and retinoid X receptors (RXR) located in the nucleus of the cell. These nuclear receptors increase the production of procollagen and function to block the release of inflammatory mediators. Finally, vitamin A functions as an antioxidant and helps the skin combat free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin

With all of the anti-aging benefits provided by vitamin A, you may be asking: what’s not to love about this skin care ingredient? Unfortunately, vitamin A products are notorious for causing skin dryness and irritation. These side effects are largely due to how vitamin A works: the increase in cellular turnover reveals a fresh, smooth layer of new skin, but this can also cause dryness and irritation because of transepidermal water loss.

The good news is that Environ Skin Care has created a way to overcome these potential side effects of vitamin A with their proprietary Vitamin Step-Up System. This system was created to help skin become more comfortable with increased levels of vitamin A and other ingredients. The product formulations range from 1 to 5, starting at the lowest concentration of the active ingredients and building up gradually to the highest concentration. Products like their Vita-Peptide C-Quence Serum, their Vita Peptide Intensive Serum, Concentrated Retinol Serum, and their Vita-Antioxidant AVST Moisturizer all have a range of formulations that cater to your changing needs.

So how do these formulations differ from each other? With all of these products, their bases remain the same in each formulation, so the only difference is the concentration of the active ingredient. For example, their Concentrated Retinol Serum comes in three formulations at different strengths. These formulas are designed to build on each other. Starting off with Retinol Serum 1, it is suggested that you completely use 2 to 4 bottles of this introductory retinol serum before moving up to Retinol Serum 2. This allows your skin to adjust to the active ingredient while also minimizing irritation and purging.

Where are Environ Skin Care products sold?

Environ Skin Care is not sold online and the brand does not have any authorized online shops selling their products. You can avoid becoming a victim of unauthorized online sellers by not purchasing Environ Skin Care online. Rather, Environ Skin Care products should only be purchased from trained and authorized Environ Skin Care professionals. You can fill out a form on the brand’s website to find a stockist near you.

What is the Environ Skin Care return policy?

Since Environ Skin Care products cannot be purchased online, you must determine the return policy from the individual stockist.

Is Environ Skin Care cruelty free?

Environ Skin Care is cruelty free. According to founder Dr. Des Fernandes, “We have never tested and will never test on animals. Environ Skin Care products are tested on human animals only. The first ‘guinea pig’ is always myself; I believe that since the whole range represents my philosophy on the best way to treat skin, it should firstly be shown to be safe by me from personal experience.”

Environ Skin Care reviews

Unfortunately, there are no Environ Skin Care reviews on the brand’s website. In addition, since there are no authorized online retailers, we cannot look to third party retailers for Environ Skin Care reviews. But we’d love to hear from you! What are some alternatives to Environ Skin Care?

We like that Environ Skin Care is focused on using some of the best anti-aging ingredients in their products that are supported by research and science. However, we do find it frustrating that it’s almost impossible to track down the ingredients list for Environ’s products online. Plus, you may not have the desire to seek out a stockist just to purchase these skin care products. That’s why we’d like to recommend an alternative for you to consider: Formulyst’s Anti-Aging Night Cream with Retinol.

The Anti-Aging Night Cream with Retinol is formulated to help hydrate, soothe, and transform your skin while you sleep. Rather than using standard retinol, the formula contains innovative Encapsulated Retinol Technology in order to deliver a higher concentration of retinol to your skin for intense rejuvenation. Remember that retinol (vitamin A) can provide numerous benefits to the skin, such as helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fade dark spots, improve uneven skin tone, restore skin firmness, and shrink the appearance of enlarged pores. The Anti-Aging Night Cream with Retinol also helps to lock in moisture and restore the skin’s barrier function with emollients such as safflower oil, squalane, and jojoba oil.

There’s no need to compromise when it comes to finding skincare that is effective and safe. Carrot & Stick takes a tough love approach to skincare, perfectly balancing the power of plants with cutting edge science. Not only is Carrot & Stick good for your skin, it is also good for the environment as the formulas skip harmful chemicals as well as the preservatives, emulsifiers and thickeners commonly found in skincare products.

The philosophy of Formulyst is long-term and effective skincare, rather than covering up any imperfections. The comprehensive line of products tackles everything from wrinkles to dark spots and dry skin. While some brands rely on unnecessary fillers and scents, Formulyst focuses on ingredients that help create results, such as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.Read More

I live in Sydney Australia and was introduced to environ products on a cruise ship in 2019 I am 70 years young and have been and have been using these products ever since with amazing results I wish I could show you a photo. I have used retinol daily for around 30 years due to a severe case of rosatia. My problem is that I have run out of product and don’t know where to buy it here.

Hi, just starter with 2 Environ products: Skin Essentia Moisturizer 1 and Alpha Day Lotion SPF 15. So far I cannot complain but it’s too early to say more about my skin.
My concern is when I look at all the chemical ingredients!!!! Oops ! A bit scary!
Not sure I’ll continue bc of them.

Environ is a great product but you can’t call it cruelty free or vegan. The Colostrum comes from cows after birth. There is no ethical way to source it and like the dairy industry the calves are often killed so the mother can keep breeding. It’s cruel and inhumane. I wish Environ made a Retinol without Colostrum.

I have been using Environ for over 10 years and I can only provide a rave review. I live in Namibia and the dryness and severe adult acne did not do much for my skin. I was introduced by my face therapist to the Environ classic range and in less than six months, I could see the remarkable difference. Now that I’m a lot older, I have started using the C-Quence and Youth+ Focus care. I am constantly complemented on my skin and people cannot believe that I’m almost 50! Once you start using Environ, nothing will ever come close!

I live in South Africa and have been using the Environ products for about 20 years and am 56 years old. I often get complimented that I do not look my age and that my skin is amazing. I suppose that genetics does have something to do with this but rather, I think, it has to do with the constant use of the Environ Products and that they really suit my skin. I have one of the most sensitive and difficult skins in the world (to me anyway). I have Rosacea and get ezcema on my eyelids. I cannot use ANY sunscreen, no matter the brand, even Environ as it makes me want to scratch my face off 10 minutes after application. Over the years I have been bullied by salespeople into using/buying/trying other products that have “amazing results”. The results WERE amazing. My skin immediately started puffing up and became red and itchy, especially around the eyes. When I have this reaction the only product that soothes my skin and returns it to normal is the Environ Antioxidant Gel. This product is truly amazing and I highly recommend it. About 4 years ago I started using the Colostrum Gel. This works very, very well and leaves my skin glowing and more refined. I use it every day but I think the recommendation is only twice a week. I have used the Super Moisturiser in the winter and this works very well to hydrate the skin. I have used all the other moisturisers, starting with the basic and ending with the super rich night cream. They all work very well in my opinion.
Since Environ was developed with very harsh climates in mind I think it does a very good job!
