Environ Skin Care is a globally recognized professional skin care brand that was created on the belief that skin has life and that vitamin A is the “oxygen” it needs to look beautiful and healthy for life.
That’s why Environ Skin Care specifically focuses on formulating vitamin A based skin care products. In fact, Environ Skin Care was founded by the first person to successfully use vitamin A and antioxidants in a cosmetic product: Dr. Des Fernandes. Rated amongst the top five plastic surgeons in the world, Dr. Fernandes combined his experience with his idea for incorporating vitamin A into all different types of skin care products to create Environ Skin Care in 1990.]
What’s Inside Environ Skin Care?
As we mentioned above, vitamin A — also known as retinol — is the cornerstone ingredient in the Environ Skin Care philosophy.
Retinol
If you’re trying to prevent or reduce signs of skin aging, then you’ve probably heard that it’s a good idea to add retinol into your skincare routine.
According to Environ Skin Care founder and scientific director, Dr. Des Fernandes, “Aging skin is a direct result of sun-induced vitamin A deficiency. Correct the deficiency and you’ll have more radiant looking skin.”
Indeed, it has been proven that vitamin A can provide the following benefits:
- Minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Improve uneven skin tone
- Restore skin firmness
- Shrink the appearance of enlarged pores
- Promote the effects of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor (NMF)
- Support the effects of the skin’s immune system and help prevent the appearance of breakouts
- Strengthening the effects of the skin’s outer layer
- Assist in reducing the likelihood of the development of potential skin cancers
With all of the anti-aging benefits provided by vitamin A, you may be asking: what’s not to love about this skin care ingredient? Unfortunately, vitamin A products are notorious for causing skin dryness and irritation. These side effects are largely due to how vitamin A works: the increase in cellular turnover reveals a fresh, smooth layer of new skin, but this can also cause dryness and irritation because of transepidermal water loss.
The good news is that Environ Skin Care has created a way to overcome these potential side effects of vitamin A with their proprietary Vitamin Step-Up System. This system was created to help skin become more comfortable with increased levels of vitamin A and other ingredients. The product formulations range from 1 to 5, starting at the lowest concentration of the active ingredients and building up gradually to the highest concentration.
Products like their Vita-Peptide C-Quence Serum, their Vita Peptide Intensive Serum, Concentrated Retinol Serum, and their Vita-Antioxidant AVST Moisturizer all have a range of formulations that cater to your changing needs.
So how do these formulations differ from each other? With all of these products, their bases remain the same in each formulation, so the only difference is the concentration of the active ingredient.
For example, their Concentrated Retinol Serum comes in three formulations at different strengths. These formulas are designed to build on each other. Starting off with Retinol Serum 1, it is suggested that you completely use 2 to 4 bottles of this introductory retinol serum before moving up to Retinol Serum 2. This allows your skin to adjust to the active ingredient while also minimizing irritation and purging.
Use retinoids at night. We recommend this retinoid oil serum. It contains Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, an ingredient that provides similar benefits with less irritation.
Vitamin C
We’ve been hearing for years that Vitamin C is the best anti-aging ingredient. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that protects the skin from free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin.
Vitamin C also helps fade dark spots, evens out skin tone, and increases radiance. As if that wasn’t enough, research suggests that when vitamin C is applied to the skin, it significantly reverses aging-related structural changes by influencing collagen and elastin synthesis.
It’s used in several Environ products, such as Intense C-Boost Mela-Even Cream.
But our favorite Vitamin C serum is Carrot & Stick The Defence Serum. It contains 3 distinct types of Vitamin C that work together to help fight free radical damage. We recommend using it every morning.
Peptides
As you age, your body’s production of collagen and elastin slows down. These two proteins are responsible for your skin’s structural support. As a result, the skin loses its natural plumpness and smoothness.
While collagen is necessary for maintaining youthful-looking skin, the collagen protein is too large to absorb into the skin topically. That’s why applying skin care products that contain collagen won’t provide the anti-aging benefits you’re looking for.
This is where peptides come into action. Peptides are the building blocks of protein, and they are easily absorbed into the deeper layers of skin due to their smaller size.
Environ Vita-Peptide C-Quence Serum 4 is formulated with peptides.
If you’re looking for a peptide serum, we recommend Carrot & Stick The Repair Serum. It contains 7 plant-based peptides to promote plumper and smoother-looking skin.
Environ Skin Care products
Environ Skin Care currently offers three different skin care collections:
- Essential Care Ranges
- Focus Care Ranges
- Even More Range
Each one of these can be broken down further into different categories. For example, the Essential Care Ranges include Youth Essentia, Skin Essentia, and Body Essentia. The Focus Care Ranges includes six subcategories (Youth, Moisture, Comfort, Radiance, Clarity, and Skin Tech). Finally, the Even More Ranges include Sun Care, Cover+ Concealers, and Hydra+ Foundations.
Clearly, Environ Skin Care wants to offer consumers a variety of products to suit very specific skin care needs and concerns. Deanna Original review: Mar 16, 2021.
I just have to correct you. I have been in the agriculture industry my entire life. Cow’s colostrum is a coveted resource and there is nothing unethical or inhumane about the way it is collected. Calves are given first colostrum and then put on milk replacer to live a long and happy life. The “cow” only has 1 calf per year and if they didn’t reproduce well you would have no more milk or cows to produce beef. A milk cow is just that a MILK cow. They produce way too much for 1 calf to drink. In fact if that milk were not taken out humanely the cow would die of infection and mastitis. I have been using Environ products for about a month and have noticed a BIG difference and am very happy with them.
