There are very brands that are as Iconic as Chanel. Known original for their incredible fashion, the brand has opened up in the past decades to include skincare, makeup, fragrance and body care products, all of which evoke the same luxury that their fashion house was founded on. Today, their sublimage range continues to be one of their most popular skincare ranges, which focuses on radiance and hydration. We’re going to be diving into the range, discussing their formulas as well as their skin care philosophy, so that you can decide for yourself whether this product is worth the investment. So without further adieu, let’s get started!
What’s Inside Chanel Sublimage?
One key ingredient that is found in the Chanel Skin Care Sublimage line is called “Enriched Planifolia PFA”, an extract from the Vanilla planifolia plant. Of all of the 117 varieties of vanilla in the world, researchers discovered that this specific species was the most beneficial for the skin.
Interestingly, Chanel doesn’t describe the specific benefits of this ingredient or provide any research to back up the claims. The only thing they say about Enriched Planifolia PFA is that it “acts on all signs of aging”.
The brand also uses tried-and-true ingredients, like ceramides and shea butter, in the Chanel Sublimage products.
Ceramides
Ceramides are a family of waxy lipid molecules that are naturally produced by the skin and are vital in supporting the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum is the outer layer of skin, which can be thought of as a “brick and mortar” system. The bricks are the corneocytes (dead skin cells) and the intercellular lipids (ceramides) represent the mortar.
Without ceramides, the skin barrier is weakened, just like without mortar a brick wall would be weak and unstable. The result is skin that can easily become dry, itchy, or irritated. A properly functioning stratum corneum is essential for healthy skin as it maintains epidermal hydration and serves as a barrier that responds to environmental stressors, infections, irritants, and allergens.
Ceramide NP is used inside the Chanel Sublimage L’Essence Fondamentale Yeux formula. Applying products that contain ceramides can help to replenish ceramide levels, thus restoring the skin’s natural barrier.
We recommend Carrot & Stick The Repair Cream for dry skin because it combines ceramides with probiotics and soothing plant extracts to keep the microbiome balanced and skin looking hydrated.
Shea Butter
Shea butter functions as an emollient that softens and soothes the skin. It melts at body temperature, so it’s able to coat the skin and form an occlusive film. This film helps to prevent evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture and increases skin hydration by causing buildup of water in the stratum corneum (the uppermost layer of skin).
Shea butter is used in Chanel Sublimage Le Baume, along with additional emollients like jojoba oil and moringa oil.
We recommend Carrot & Stick The Repair Cream for dry skin because it combines shea butter with ceramides, probiotics, and soothing plant extracts to keep skin looking and feeling balanced and healthy.
Who is the Chanel Sublimage Range For?
The Chanel Sublimage range was designed to suit all skin types, but the majority of their focus has been placed on restoring and revitalizing the skin. Because of this, the range as a whole will benefit those with anti-aging skin concerns, as well as those with mature or dry skin types, best.
Chanel Sublimage
Chanel Sublimage is a range of luxury anti-aging skincare products that includes everything from mists to serums and creams, in order to create a rich and nourishing skin care routine. The most popular and well known products from the line include the L’extrait De Crême, the La Brume and of course, the original La Creme.
Starting off with L’extrait De Creme, this is their most intensely concentrated formula, that was designed specifically for those with extra dry, mature skin. As their most luxurious moisturizer in the entire range, this product was designed to revitalize, regenerate, restore and protect the skin in a short period of time. During clinical evaluations, the L’extrait De Creme was tested to see how this cream helped with dryness, dullness and uneven skin tone. After four weeks of use 41 women saw that their skin was 125% more nourished, 50% more radiance, 60% plumper and 52% smoother than it had been previously.
Moving on to their La Brume, this revitalizing mist was designed to hydrate the skin throughout the day. During clinical evaluation, it was found that radiance increased by 49% in the 34 women who were tested over four weeks.
Finally, we have their original La Creme, which today, is available in a number of different types and variations. This product was designed to serve as a rich, soothing cream that also possesses anti-aging properties. Since it’s release, the original Sublimage La Creme has gone through two rounds of clinical evaluations. Through these trials, skin looked 52% more radiant and 36% more firm. Additionally, dark spots appeared to be diminished by 32% during the first clinical evaluation.
How To Use Chanel Sublimage
Depending on the product you’re using, the application will vary. That being said, most of the products in this line are designed to hydrate and moisturize while providing anti-aging benefits, so we recommend organizing your skincare routine starting from the lightest weight product, like the Chanel La Brume Mist and working up towards the richer, most moisturizing creams.

The most helpful review on The Derm Review below: “I have used Sublimage for years. My skin is nourished, radiant and everywhere I go I get compliments. I am 72 and truly No wrinkles! I hv been using Sublimage Le Cream Lumiere and love it but recently I had some samples of Le Baume. I am in love with it and want to know if I should use in place of Le Cream Lumiere on my next purchase. What’s the difference? Which one is truly the best for firming, plumpness and overall. I use L’Extract de Nuit and L’Extract de cream at night. Please tell me which to use during the day. Thanks. Connie”
