-Serious Skin Care

Serious Skin Care was founded by Jennifer Flavin Stallone over two decades ago to address acne and problematic skin.

As a young model, Jennifer was struggling with acne until she discovered Serious Skin Care after searching the globe for a solution. Once her skin was cleared, she partnered with the originators to cofound the brand that we know today. The brand’s goal is to provide sensible and effective solutions to numerous skin care and cosmetic issues that are both affordable and accessible to all.

What are the best selling Serious Skin Care products?

Serious Skin Care products include cleansers, exfoliators, serums, eye creams, moisturizers, body care, and beauty tools. On the Serious Skin Care website, you can shop by product type, skin concern, or by collection. If you’re not sure where to get started with this brand, you may want to consider these best selling Serious Skin Care products.

Serious Skin Care Glycolic Cleanser
Perhaps the most popular Serious Skin Care product is the brand’s Glycolic Cleanser. This oil-free, low-pH cleanser is said to help remove the buildup of dead skin cells and deeply cleanse the pores. This cleanser is gentle enough to be used twice daily, and can be used by all skin types.

Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Cream
Another best selling Serious Skin Care product is the Reverse Lift Cream, an anti-aging facial cream that is said to help temporarily firm, tighten, and streamline the appearance of sagging facial contours.

Serious Skin Care Dry Lo Spot Treatment
The final best selling Serious Skin Care product we’d like to discuss is the Dry Lo Spot Treatment acne medication. This spot treatment is said to help clear acne blemishes, whiteheads, and blackheads. However, we noticed that this product formulation includes a couple problematic ingredients, which we’ll discuss further in the following section.

What are the key ingredients in Serious Skin Care?

Serious Skin Care does not focus on using one key ingredient throughout their product lines. Rather, the brand combines a plethora of both natural and synthetic ingredients into their product formulations. In this section, we’ll discuss the key ingredients you can expect to find in the best selling Serious Skin Care products we introduced above.

Serious Skin Care Glycolic Acid contains 9.8% glycolic acid, a type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that has the ability to exfoliate the skin, stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration process, and help the skin to retain moisture. One of the main benefits of glycolic acid is its ability to exfoliate the skin by targeting corneocytes (dead skin cells) in a process called corneocyte desquamation. By enhancing their breakdown and increasing the separation of skin cells, the rate of cell turnover is increased, leading to smoother, more radiant skin. This property of glycolic acid is also very useful for those struggling with oily and acne-prone skin.

Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Cream contains a high concentration of the anti-aging peptide acetyl hexapeptide-8, also known as Argireline. This six amino acid peptide is a fragment of SNAP-25 (a substrate of botulinum toxin). It works by limiting the ability of neurotransmitters to activate movement in your facial muscles, for example, when forming facial expressions such as smiling or frowning. By inhibiting the nerves that cause facial muscles to contract, subtle facial expressions are limited and wrinkles are subsequently reduced. Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Cream also contains several types of hydrating algae extracts and botanical oils, like evening primrose oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, and more.

If you are concerned about aging skin and looking for professional grade products that are also clean,  Carrot & Stick The Repair Serum. It contains a peptide complex to target multiple signs of aging.

Serious Skin Care Dry Lo Spot Treatment includes 10% sulfur as the key acne-fighting ingredient. Sulfur works well to reduce acne because it is a keratolytic. A keratolytic is an ingredient that loosens dead skin cells and aids in exfoliation, which helps to prevent pore blockages. Sulfur also helps to reduce skin oiliness and has antimicrobial properties. One of the downsides is that it can make very dry skin worse and therefore should be used by those with oily skin. Another ingredient in this spot treatment that can cause excessive skin dryness is isopropyl alcohol. In fact, isopropyl alcohol can be quite damaging to the skin and therefore is not an ingredient we like to find in a product formulation!

Of note, many of the Serious Skin Care products contain parabens (for instance, the Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Cream contains five different parabens), which many consumers are now trying to avoid. Parabens are preservatives used to extend the shelf life of a product by preventing microbial contamination. Over the past 10 years, parabens have become criticized for use in cosmetics due to research that has revealed their potential relation to health concerns. However, the research on parabens is conflicting and polarizing.

For instance, some research indicates that parabens are safe as used in cosmetics and preferred since they are gentle, non-sensitizing, and highly effective. Furthermore, these studies have demonstrated that parabens did not have any effect when compared to natural hormones in the body. Other research has concluded that parabens are problematic. The concern started when a 2004 study linked parabens in deodorant to breast cancer. This link seemed plausible since parabens can mimic human estrogen and it is known that high estrogen levels stimulate the growth of cancer cells. However, the study has since been discredited and the American Cancer Society has concluded that there is insufficient scientific evidence of parabens increasing breast cancer risk.

Where are Serious Skin Care products sold?

Serious Skin Care products are sold on the brand’s website, as well as third party sellers like Amazon, eBay, and Evine (ShopHQ.com).

What is the Serious Skin Care return policy?

The Serious Skin Care return policy states, “If for any reason you are not satisfied with Serious Skin Care products, simply return the unused portion within 30 days for a prompt, no-question asked refund of the purchase price.”

Is Serious Skin Care cruelty free?

Serious Skin Care does not have any statement about animal testing on their website.

Serious Skin Care reviews

Serious Skin Care reviews on the The Derm Review below are pretty negative, however, there aren’t many customer reviews (some products don’t have any reviews yet!). There are more Serious Skin Care reviews on procedures, including: “I don’t like companies that won’t reimburse you when you say stop sending me products! You’ve cost me over 90.00 and I canceled within 30 days . I called and they would only give me back 17.00! You should return my money!! Sincerely, Lynn Agar”

Why am I being charged again for something I did not order! I want to be taken off your account because I cannot afford this. Y just put my bank account in the negative! The stuff I ordered was one time only! I would like my money put back into my account!! Thank you

These people are a scam. My husband just had $419.10 taken out of our checking account after someone scammed his debit card. I called them twice. They refused to help me because the orders (4 of them) were not placed with his name or email. I have his card number and the 4 amounts of the orders. Their only response was that I had to contact our bank. Do they think I’m so stupid that I would not have already done this??!!

I have used the products for years. I will never buy again because they shipped me 2 auto shipments while I was out of the country. Customer service just informed me I am out 197.28 because one of the orders was in December. I was told that these shipments would end, and they did not. I do not know how I will pay for them. I feel like I was treated unfairly by an old friend. I will tell all that I referred SSC to to stop purchasing. It may just put a dent in your busness , but its something!

I was excited to finally receive the Serious Skincare Insta-Tox serum. I had to wait a while and had to make 2 phone calls to their customer service center. This stuff does really work HOWEVER you cannot talk, smile, laugh or the wrinkles all come back again!! I will not be buying again and really disappointed. It’s kinda like putting on an invisible face mask, you feel the tightening affect, however when it dries, the minute you make a facial expression, the lines re-appear.

I want to know if my order went through this morning because I did not get a confirmation that it was received for the eye wrinkle cream, one tube. plus I didn’t get the order confirmation number. This is something that I really need, I want to try this. Thank you.

just want to warn people about ssc. they have extremely toxic and harmful chemicals in their products, especially in their spf c cream. ascorbyl palmitate kills skin cells on a massive level, fda is suppose to pull spf’s with ascorbyl palmitate, see mayo clinics findings on ascorbyl palmitate in spf, also the chemicals she uses in her products cause cancer, tumors, etc. i guess we have to wait for fda to tell her to pull them instead of ssc making the right choice on their own, they choose profit over peoples lives. they know about this but dont care. if you want to keep your skin, along with you life, dont use ssc!!!!

Serious Skin Care Glycolic Cleanser Review

This gentle oil-free cleanser is suited for all skin types. It can be used both morning and night or in conjunction with any of your other treatment products. This cleanser helps to remove the buildup of dead skin cells which can dull your complexion. The low pH balance and natural Glycolic exfoliators make it perfect for deep pore cleansing, dissolving and dislodging the cellular glue that contributes to the abnormal buildup of dead skin cells.

Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Review

Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Firming Eye Cream is an anti-aging eye cream that is said to optimize the appearance of skin’s resilience and vibrancy, with the goal to create a firmer-looking and younger-looking complexion. One of the key ingredients in this eye cream is acetyl hexapeptide-8 (also known as Argireline™). Acetyl hexapeptide-8 is a six amino acid peptide and is a fragment of SNAP-25 (a substrate of botulinum toxin). It works by limiting the ability of neurotransmitters to activate movement in your facial muscles, for example, when forming facial expressions such as smiling or frowning. By inhibiting the nerves that cause facial muscles to contract, subtle facial expressions are limited and wrinkles are subsequently reduced.

In addition to acetyl hexapeptide-8, Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Firming Eye Cream contains a high concentration of two seaweed extracts: Chondrus crispus (carrageenan) extract and Fucus vesiculosus (bladderwrack) extract. Carrageenan is a polysaccharide that makes up 55% of the dry weight of Chondrus crispus. It has excellent water-binding properties, which means it attracts and holds moisture on the skin to improve hydration. Bladderwrack helps soothe the skin due to its content of B-complex vitamins, calcium, iodine, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, sulfur, and silicon that contribute to its anti-inflammatory benefits. Additionally, bladderwrack contains carotene, selenium, and zinc, as well as minimal amounts of antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E, which all contribute to this ingredient’s anti-aging and healing properties. Lastly, Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Firming Eye Cream contains several different botanical oils and butters, such as soybean oil, shea butter, avocado oil, and more. These ingredients function as emollients, softening the skin and locking in moisture.

Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Cream Review

If you’re on the hunt for a moisturizer that helps to plump and firm the skin, you may want to check out the Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Cream. As we age, unfortunately some of our essential skin processes begin to slow down. This includes the production of vital compounds including collagen and elastin. When our skin is deficient in these compounds, we can start to notice sagging skin, bags under the eyes and a general loss of firmness. Many skincare products, including the Serious Skin Care Reverse Lift Cream, have tried to address this issue with the use of topically applied products and formulations designed to penetrate the skin deeper layer in order to plump and rejuvenate the skin. The Reverse Lift Cream contains a range of ingredients including a variety of botanical extracts, as well as a number of peptides. Botanical extracts including bladderwrack, carrot root and licorice work together to brightening, plump and revive the skin to deliver a youthful glow. Peptides on the other hand, have been used in a wide range of skincare production in order to boost the production of collagen. Peptides themselves are amino acid precursors which signal the skin to produce its own collagen, effectively boosting the amount of collagen available in the skin. With all this in mind, this type of product would be best suited for those of you who are starting to see signs of aging, as well as signs of dryness, and would like to find a product that addresses both of these skin concerns at the same time.

    Serious Skincare Microcurrent Facial

Serious Skincare Microcurrent Facial Toning System Review The Serious Skincare Microcurrent Facial Toning System is one of many products sold by Serious Skin Care and the Home Shopping Network, and can be purchased with a variety of makeup, anti-aging products, bath and body products, and beauty and skin care kits. The product line was developed and launched in 2007 by Lesa Stock, an aesthetician, and Jennifer Flavin-Stallone, well-known model and wife of actor Sylvester Stallone. The Serious Skincare Microcurrent Facial Toning System and other products from the company are available on the company website and through television offers on several home shopping networks. This toning product is designed to deliver what the manufacturer calls "impulses" into the skin that cause the muscles in the face to contract and then relax, which simulates the movements of facial exercise. The Serious Skincare Microcurrent Facial Toning System retails for nearly $160. However, if you see this as a sound investment for your skin care kit, you should make an effort to learn about the system's pros and cons before you make your purchase, and read Serious Skincare Microcurrent reviews.

About the Serious Skincare Microcurrent Facial Toning System

The Serious Skincare Microcurrent System consists of three parts that include two hand-held units that deliver the impulses, along with the charging equipment. All three parts interlock to make one unit for quick storage and portability. When in use, the system allows the user to control the intensity of the pulses that are delivered in one-minute intervals, which they can then repeat as many times as they want to. The Serious Skincare Microcurrent System also comes with a conductive gel that must be applied to the skin before treatment. If the gel is not applied, the machine will not operate.
