It is difficult to tell what the reason for this change was, but it’s likely that the manufacturer wanted to create a more distinct brand that wouldn’t be confused with the name of the active ingredient. However, the focus of the Alpha Skin Care line hasn’t changed, and many of the products are still formulated with one of the most common AHAs: glycolic acid. In this review, we’ll discuss a few of the brand’s best selling products, key ingredients, Alpha Skin Care reviews from real customers, and more.

The Top 5 Alpha Skin Care Products

The Alpha Skin Care line of products includes cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, and body care products. Many of the brand’s products have similar names, for example, Intensive Renewal Serum and Enhanced Renewal Cream, which can make it a little confusing to know what exactly the product is for. That’s why we’d like to discuss the top 5 best selling Alpha Skin Care products and what they are claimed to do.

It is said to support collagen production, thereby helping to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles while evening skin tone and texture.

Refreshing Face Wash
This gentle soap-free formula uses citric acid to remove dirt, makeup, and excess oil from your skin’s surface and pores. The Alpha Skin Care Refreshing Face Wash can be used by all skin types, both day and night.

Essential Renewal Lotion
The Essential Renewal Lotion is an anti-aging facial lotion for normal to dry skin types that contains 10% AHA. It is said to support collagen production, thereby helping to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles while evening skin tone and texture.

What Are The Key Alpha Skin Care Ingredients?

Alpha Skin Care named their brand after the key ingredient used throughout their line of skincare products: alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). These compounds consist of a carboxylic acid (-COOH) substituted with a hydroxyl group (-OH) on the adjacent carbon in the alpha position, hence the name. AHAs can be naturally derived from fruit and milk sugars or synthetically produced. For example, glycolic acid can be isolated from natural sources like sugarcane, sugar beets, pineapple, cantaloupe, and unripe grapes.

AHAs are frequently used in skin care products because they have the ability to exfoliate the skin, stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration process, and help the skin to retain moisture. Like we said, glycolic acid is the most popular AHA and it is the one that Alpha Skin Care uses in most of their products. The other AHAs include lactic acid, mandelic acid, tartaric acid, malic acid, and citric acid. Since glycolic acid is the main AHA that the brand uses throughout their product line, let’s take a closer look at the benefits this ingredient can provide.

Glycolic acid exfoliates the skin by targeting corneocytes (dead skin cells that make up the top layers of skin) in a process called corneocyte desquamation. By enhancing their breakdown and increasing the separation of skin cells, the rate of cell turnover is increased, leading to smoother, brighter skin.

Glycolic acid can also help to keep the skin hydrated. Remember, AHAs have a hydroxyl (-OH) group in the alpha position. This hydroxyl group enables AHAs to function as humectant moisturizers. A humectant moisturizer is an ingredient that sits on your skin and grabs onto water, slowing it from evaporating. This keeps your skin hydrated.

Lastly, glycolic acid is able to penetrate deep into the skin due to its small molecular size and stimulate the synthesis of collagen. Collagen is a structural protein naturally produced by the body that is responsible for keeping skin strong and firm. By stimulating new collagen synthesis, glycolic acid may be able to help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

When looking at the other ingredients in Alpha Skin Care products, we found that besides AHAs, the brand mostly uses emollients to formulate their products. An emollient is any ingredient that can soften the skin. A few examples of the emollients you’ll find in Alpha Skin Care products include petrolatum, mineral oil, and lanolin alcohol. The brand also uses silicones, such as dimethicone, in some of their products. Silicones improve the spreadability of a product, while also leaving behind a silky, smooth skin feel.

Where is Alpha Skin Care Sold?

Alpha Skin Care products are sold on the brand’s website (neotericcosmetics.com), as well as several third party online retailers, such as Ulta, Amazon, Walmart, and more.

Is Alpha Skin Care Cruelty Free?

Neoteric Cosmetics is cruelty free, therefore, Alpha Skin Care is cruelty free.

Hydroxy Acids: AHAs And BHAs: Why You Should Be Using Them

AHAs And BHAs For Your Skin Whether you’re a skincare novice or consider yourself a self-taught skincare expert, it’s highly likely that you’ve used a product that contains some type of hydroxy acid. While the name sounds quite off-putting at first, don’t let its intensity fool you.  Hydroxy acids have...

Alpha Skin Care Dual Action Skin Lightener Review

There are tons of skin brighteners or lighteners on the market these days, but if you’re looking for something that really gets the job done, you may want to start with the Alpha Skincare Dual Action Skin Lightener. Hyperpigmentation is one of the most stubborn skincare concerns, and can be incredibly challenging to get a handle on with topical products alone. If you’ve found that other products aren’t giving you the results you want, it may be time to try hydroquinone. Hydroquinone is a skin lightening agent that works to fade signs of hyperpigmentation in a shorter period of time. Within the Alpha Skin Care Dual Action Skin Lightener, this product utilizes 2% hydroquinone alongside 10% glycolic acid to deliver results in an even shorter period of time. These two ingredients work together to fade all types of hyperpigmentation including acne scars, sun damage and aging by encouraging skin cell turnover. In order to get the best results, while also avoiding any complications, we recommend using this product in 3 months cycles, with breaks in between to allow your skin to maintain its natural balance.

Alpha Skin Care Intensive Rejuvenating Serum Review

If you’re on the hunt for a glycolic acid treatment with a great formula and a budget friendly price tag, you may want to check out the Alpha Skin Care Intensive Rejuvenating Serum. This product was formulated with 14% glycolic acid to deliver an intense chemical exfoliation. Glycolic acid is an AHA or alpha hydroxy acid, which chemically exfoliates the top layer of the skin. Of all the main AHA’s including glycolic, lactic and mandelic, glycolic has the smallest molecule size and is therefore the most aggressive of the AHA’s. The average daily chemical exfoliant has around 3-7% glycolic acid, so you can see how potent this formula is. Because the percentage of the active ingredient is so high, we highly recommend that you start slow with this product by using it around once a week. If you find that your skin tolerates this product well and you don’t notice any irritation in the first few weeks of use, you can go ahead and up this to 2-3 times a week, although we don’t recommend applying this product every day. With all that said, this product would be an excellent option for those of you who struggle with hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and acne in particular, as regular chemical exfoliation helps to remove the dead skin cells and reveal the smoother, clearer skin underneath.

Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash

Is Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash Right for You? If you’re thinking of adding Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash as part of your skin care routine, there are many things to consider before making the leap. Firstly, it should go without saying that efficient facial cleansing is a vital part of any skin care routine. Cleansed, exfoliated skin has been clinically proven to absorb skin care products better and prevent the appearance of acne. But is Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash really the best choice for you? Does it have all the best skin care ingredients for your situation? After all, everyone’s skin is unique, and alpha hydroxy acids may not be the optimal choice for your situation. The best place to get answers to such questions and to get a personalized treatment plan is to visit your dermatologist or skin care specialist. But to help you make a better initial assessment of Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash, a basic overview is included below.

How Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash Works

The main idea behind Alpha Hydrox Face Wash is to remove the dead skin cells, makeup, dirt, and oil from the top layers of the skin. Cleansing the skin can be a real problem for some individuals because oil and dirt don’t just build up on the surface, but can sink into pores, where they are harder to target.

Alpha Hydrox Souffle

Alpha Hydrox Souffle for Radiant Skin? A potent exfoliator is a vital part of any skin care kit, and one such product that’s been gaining positive reviews is Alpha Hydrox Souffle. However, before purchasing this product it’s important to take the time to complete thorough research about its ingredients and ultimate potency. This is because products with alpha hydroxy acids can be a double-edged sword for some individuals; on the one hand the acids provide strong exfoliation, but they also carry a chance of serious irritation in consumers with sensitive skin. Alpha Hydrox Souffle is no different, and although it has many glowing reviews online, it must be approached with caution, as it contains a relatively high concentration of glycolic acid, at 12%. For best results, seek the advice of a dermatologist or a licensed aesthetician before using products like Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle.

How Alpha Hydrox Souffle Works

Alpha Hydrox Souffle primarily works through the active ingredient, glycolic acid. This alpha hydroxy acid is able to penetrate the skin deeply, to provide more potent exfoliation, and can even cleanse pores.

INGREDIENTS

Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion

When you first read Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion reviews, you might think that this skin care product is the perfect solution for aging skin, and for your budget. This inexpensive product is manufactured by Neoteric Cosmetics, a U.S. skin care firm, which claims the lotion can get rid of wrinkles and skin discoloration by utilizing the exfoliating properties of glycolic acid. But before you spend your money on Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion, there are many things to consider. For example, before buying any skin care product you must first assess the specific skin issues you would like to treat, and discern the reasons for these issues. What types of wrinkles are you looking to treat, and are these wrinkles caused by loss of collagen or repetitive muscle movements? By understanding your problem and working with an experienced dermatologist you will be able to tell if Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion is truly right for you.

Alpha Hydrox

Alpha Hydrox: Product Line Overview If you’ve watched TV shows like Dr. Oz or Oprah, you’ve likely seen episodes about many skin care products, including a brand called Alpha Hydrox. This skin care line includes a wide selection of items, including face cleansers, anti aging products, moisturizers, sun blocks, and even skin care kits. However, though the Alpha Hydrox selection is quite large, all of the skin care items in this brand have one thing in common; they are largely formulated around alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). These acids are a common set of skin care ingredients, which can be synthetically manufactured in a laboratory, or derived from natural sources like fruits, for example. However, although AHAs are a common ingredient, it’s important to exercise caution when using Alpha Hydrox products, as these often contain high concentrations of these ingredients and may irritate the skin.

About Alpha Hydrox

Alpha Hydrox is a brand owned by Neoteric Cosmetics, a U.S. company that claims to manufacture all of the products domestically, in Denver, Colorado. However, it’s important to note that this doesn’t necessarily mean that all Alpha Hydrox ingredients are made within that facility. Some of the raw materials may be sourced from other companies, with the primary origination source being difficult to track in the 21st Century global economy.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid Cream

An Overview of Alpha Hydroxy Acid Cream Products Alpha hydroxy acid cream products are made with acids that exist naturally in many foods such as citrus fruits, apples, sour milk, and grapes. This group of acids includes citrus acid, salicylic acid, tartaric acid, lactic acid, and glycolic acid, among others. These are commonly used in alpha hydroxy acid lotion products as one of active ingredients with the goal of stimulating the skin’s regenerative processes and promoting general skin health. The unique properties of these acids make them useful for moisturizing and especially improving skin texture. When looking for the best alpha hydroxy cream, keep in mind that this product has several uses, and can be incorporated into your skin care routine with different purposes.

How Does an Alpha Hydroxy Acid Cream Work?

An alpha hydroxy acid lotion affects all layers of the skin in different ways. This makes the cream a versatile tool that can help you achieve several goals. First, the active ingredients in an alpha hydroxy acid cream improve the skin’s condition by removing dead skin cells from the top layers of skin. As you age, your body slows down the turnover rate of cell production, leaving dead skin cells on the skin for longer. This results in a greater likelihood of wrinkles and a dull skin tone. The acids in an alpha hydroxy cream help remove these old cells and stimulate the body to produce newer, healthier cells in a shorter amount of time.
