Weem Hair Gummies Review: Are Vitamins The Key to Thicker, Fuller Hair?

SKIN CARE REVIEWS

01.24.24DISCLAIMER

In recent years, the beauty and wellness industries have converged, giving rise to supplements designed to tackle common beauty issues from the inside out.

A popular trend is to formulate multivitamin supplements with specific amounts of vitamins to address thinning hair. One of those products is Weem Hair gummies.

Weem gummies are plant-based and formulated with a blend of vitamins and minerals to “support a healthy and balanced follicular ecosystem while soothing the scalp and revitalizing hair roots”. The result? Thicker, fuller-looking hair.

Here at The Derm Review, our job is to evaluate the ingredients in supplements like these to determine whether or not they have medical research to support the brand’s claims. And that’s exactly what we’ll do below in our Weem Hair Gummies review.

What Are The Weem Hair Gummies Ingredients?

There’s 13 different vitamins and minerals in Weem Hair Gummies. Below we’ll give you the details on the ones that have the most research to support their hair, skin, and nail benefits.

B Vitamins

In the Weem Hair Gummies formula you’ll find vitamin B5, vitamin B6, biotin (B7), folate (B9), and vitamin B12.

There’s a very high dosage of biotin in Weem Hair Gummies: 5,000 mcg (16,667% DV). Biotin is necessary to produce keratin — the type of protein that makes up hair, skin, and nails. Due to this, many hair regrowth products and supplements contain biotin.

However, there is limited evidence supporting the idea that supplementing with biotin enhances hair growth in individuals who are not biotin deficient.

Vitamin C

There’s 20 mg of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in the Weem Hair Gummies formula. Vitamin C plays a crucial role in collagen production by acting as a cofactor in the synthesis of collagen molecules.

Collagen is important for hair growth, and it’s also crucial for maintaining healthy youthful skin.

Therefore, vitamin C is a great addition to this formula, however, 20 mg is a pretty low dose and we wish the brand would have included more in the supplement.

Fat Soluble Vitamins

Weem Hair Gummies contains three fat soluble vitamins: A, D, and E.

Vitamin A represents a group of fat-soluble retinoids that includes retinol, retinal, and retinyl esters.

You’ve probably heard of using topical retinoid (vitamin A) products, but getting enough vitamin A in your diet (or through a supplement) is important for skin health, too.

That’s because vitamin A is crucial for cell turnover, collagen production, wound healing, sebum regulation, and antioxidant protection.

Vitamin A also plays a role in promoting a healthy scalp and hair, and it contributes to the overall health of hair follicles.

Vitamin D is essential for various bodily functions, and it may contribute to overall hair health. There’s research that suggests a potential link between vitamin D deficiency and hair loss, but the evidence is not conclusive.

Similar to vitamin A, vitamin E is best known for its role in skin health. It’s a potent antioxidant, and since it’s lipid soluble it is incorporated into cell membranes in order to protect from oxidative damage. This is important because free radicals are unstable, highly reactive molecules that contribute to signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and age spots.

In addition to its powerful antioxidant activity, vitamin E helps the skin retain moisture by strengthening the skin’s barrier function. It improves water-binding capacity and hydrates the stratum corneum.

Minerals

The minerals in Weem Hair Gummies include iodine and zinc.

Iodine is essential for normal cellular function, playing a crucial role in the conversion of food into energy, and it is vital for the proper functioning of the thyroid. Given the connection between thyroid disorders and hair loss, we’re happy to see that this formula provides a source of iodine.

Then, there’s zinc, which also plays an important role in hair growth.

According to a 2023 publication in the journal Acta Dermato-Venereologica, “Zinc is important for DNA stability and repair mechanisms that are essential in maintaining normal hair growth”

In a small study of 15 alopecia patients with low serum zinc levels, zinc supplements were given for a duration of 12 weeks. Notably, seven of the patients exhibited significant recovery,  meaning they experienced hair regrowth of more than 60% on their hair loss patch.

Additional Ingredients

Lastly, Weem Hair Gummies contain inositol and choline.

Inositol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that’s often classified as a B-vitamin, although it is not officially recognized as such.

According to an article published in The Journal of Cellular Physiology, inositol is a required nutrient for keratinocyte growth (keratinocytes are the cells that produce keratin, an important protein for healthy hair, skin, and nails).

Thus, supplementing with inositol helps to strengthen hair follicles, which can lead to increased hair growth. It may also help to prevent hair loss by stimulating the production of new hair follicles.

Then, there’s choline. Choline is an essential nutrient that’s naturally present in some foods, such as eggs, meat, fish, and dairy products.

Research has shown that choline works well with inositol. In particular, choline enhances the efficacy of inositol in protecting hair follicle membranes, thereby minimizing hair loss and promoting hair growth.

What Are The Benefits of Weem Hair Gummies?

After assessing all of the ingredients in Weem Hair Gummies, we believe it’s possible to see these benefits:

Healthier Skin

The ingredients like vitamins A and E, vitamin C, and B vitamins play important roles in the body, including mechanisms that keep skin looking healthy and youthful.

Hair Growth

The brand included many vitamins and minerals that are necessary for hair growth, however, research suggests that these nutrients work best in those who are deficient in these vitamins and minerals. Therefore, if you aren’t deficient, you may not notice results from this product.

Stronger Nails

Nutrients like zinc, biotin, and inositol are necessary for the production of keratin, the protein that makes up our nails. Therefore, the inclusion of these nutrients in a Weem Hair Gummies could help to promote stronger nails.

Where to Buy Weem Hair Gummies?

Weem Hair Gummies are sold on the brand’s website (weemco.com), as well as on Amazon.com.

How Much is Weem Hair Gummies?

On the brand’s website, Weem Hair Gummies cost $25 USD for one bottle (30 servings).

On Amazon, the same size bottle costs $29.95 USD.
