What is Sunday Riley CEO?
Sunday Riley CEO is a line of vitamin C skin care products by clean beauty brand Sunday Riley. Founded less than a decade ago by its namesake founder and formulator, Sunday Riley, this brand is focused on results and formulates their products with natural botanicals and active ingredients that promise to transform the quality of your skin.
What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2023?
The Sunday Riley CEO collection consists of three products: CEO Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil, CEO Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream, and CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum. Below we’ll give a brief description of these products, and in the next section we’ll cover the key ingredients.
Sunday Riley CEO Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil
This facial oil delivers cold-pressed, nutrient-rich extracts into your skin and is said to promote instant vibrance, leaving your complexion looking brighter and nurtured. Sunday Riley CEO Glow Face Oil can be used on the face, neck, and décolletage, morning and/or evening.
Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream
The Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream is said to deeply hydrate, visibly brighten dull skin, prevent and repair the visible signs of premature skin aging, fight the signs of dehydration and damage, and provide advanced antioxidant support. That’s a lot of claims for one product, so we’ll have to evaluate the key ingredients in this cream in order to see if it can live up to these claims. The Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C cream can be used once or twice a day.
Sunday Riley CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum
The Sunday Riley CEO serum is a targeted solution that is said to quickly fight the look of dullness, dark spots, and discolorations at the source, while diminishing the signs of aging. This serum can be used once or twice a day.
What are the key Sunday Riley CEO ingredients?
You can probably guess the star ingredient in the Sunday Riley CEO products: vitamin C. Rather than using pure vitamin C (ascorbic acid), which is very unstable and prone to oxidation, the brand formulates the Sunday Riley CEO products with a stable, fat-soluble vitamin C derivative called tetrahexyldecyl (THD) ascorbate. In addition to having better stability than ascorbic acid, it is believed that THD ascorbate can penetrate the skin better than other water-soluble forms because its fatty acid component helps aid penetration.
Once absorbed into the skin, THD ascorbate is converted to ascorbic acid, the active form of vitamin C. Ascorbic acid provides numerous benefits to the skin. First, it’s a potent antioxidant that helps the skin to combat the damaging effects of free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. Ascorbic acid also has the ability to stimulate collagen production, decrease the appearance of dark spots, and improve uneven skin tone.
Next let’s take a look at a few of the additional key ingredients found in Sunday Riley CEO products. As the name implies, turmeric extract is another key ingredient found in Sunday Riley CEO Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil. The main bioactive component of turmeric extract is called curcumin, a bright yellow polyphenol. Curcumin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and also has the ability to fade dark spots by inhibiting melanogenesis (the process by which melanin is produced by melanocytes).
In addition to vitamin C, Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream features bisabolol as a key ingredient. Bisabolol is a natural monocyclic sesquiterpene alcohol that is a major component of the essential oil derived from chamomile. Bisabolol has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and is therefore very soothing when applied to the skin. It has also been shown in studies to inhibit melanin synthesis, which should help reduce the appearance of undesirable dark spots on the skin, leading to a brighter complexion and more even skin tone.
Sunday Riley CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum includes a high concentration of squalane. Squalane helps to replenish the skin’s lipid barrier, which is important to keep moisture in and environmental aggressors out. When the barrier is weakened, these aggressors can pass through the top layer of skin, causing damage that ultimately leads to common skin conditions such as acne, rashes, sensitive skin, and even signs of aging. Thus, the inclusion of squalane in the Sunday Riley CEO Serum should help to replenish the skin’s lipid barrier and prevent these problems.
One disadvantage of Sunday Riley CEO products is that they all contain fragrance, and some formulations contain pretty high concentrations of fragrance ingredients. For example, the fragrance ingredient limonene is the sixth highest concentration ingredient in the Sunday Riley CEO serum. We understand that consumers appreciate when products smell pleasant, but we’d like to point out that fragrance is not skin care. Fragrance ingredients (both natural and synthetic) have the potential to cause sensitization, irritation, and even skin damage. Even if you don’t have a full blown reaction to the fragrance ingredients, the damage may still be occurring every day. Ultimately, this can cause mild problems for your skin in the short term and worse problems in the long term.
Where is Sunday Riley CEO sold?
Sunday Riley CEO and other Sunday Riley skincare products are sold on the brand’s website, as well as numerous third party online retailers, such as Sephora, Ulta, Dermstore, Amazon, and more. The brand also has a store locator on their website so that you can find a physical location that sells Sunday Riley skincare products near you.
What is the Sunday Riley return policy?
The Sunday Riley return policy states, “We want you to love your purchase, so if you are not totally satisfied, please email [email protected] so we can provide you with a return label and our return address. Within 30 days, upon return and inspection of the product at our warehouse, we are happy to offer you a full refund or merchant credit, depending upon your preference.”
Is Sunday Riley cruelty free?
Sunday Riley is cruelty free. None of Sunday Riley skincare products or ingredients are tested on animals, and the brand does not sell their products in mainland China (where animal testing is required by law). In fact, Sunday Riley is double certified as a cruelty-free brand, by PETA and Leaping Bunny.
Sunday Riley CEO reviews
Sunday Riley CEO reviews on the brand’s website are overall very positive, with the products receiving mostly four and five star ratings. Positive reviews mention that these products help the skin to look brighter, healthier, and really have a glow. For example, one Sunday Riley CEO review for the face oil says, “LOVE this oil! Hands down my favorite product in my skincare routine – everyone always tells me my skin is glowing when I use it!”
There aren’t many negative Sunday Riley CEO reviews, but the few that we found are mostly from customers who experienced allergic reactions and/or breakouts after using these products. For example, one reviewer shares, “Love a lot of Sunday Riley products but this one actually caused some sort of allergic reaction with dry red patches and I broke out.”
What are some alternatives to Sunday Riley CEO?
Overall, we think the Sunday Riley CEO skincare products are formulated well, and we particularly like the use of THD ascorbate since it is very stable and known to provide many benefits to the skin. The only problem with these products is that they contain fragrance. Remember: fragrance is not skin care! If you’re looking for a brand of fragrance free, anti-aging skin care products, we’d like to recommend Formulyst.
One Formulyst product that we particularly love is the Nourishing Oil, an anti-aging face oil made with 100% pure ingredients. This facial oil contains numerous non-fragrant botanical oils that can help to nourish, moisturize, and protect the skin. For example, Formulyst Nourishing Oil includes plenty of omega-rich oils – including amaranth, olive, macadamia and avocado – which provide the skin with omegas 3, 6, 7 and 9. Additional moisturizing oils include safflower seed oil, argan oil, jojoba seed oil, and coconut oil, just to name a few.
There’s no need to compromise when it comes to finding skincare that is effective and safe. Carrot & Stick takes a tough love approach to skincare, perfectly balancing the power of plants with cutting edge science. Not only is Carrot & Stick good for your skin, it is also good for the environment as the formulas skip harmful chemicals commonly found in skin care products.
