Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum Review

SKIN CARE REVIEWS

11.08.22DISCLAIMER

When you think of diamonds, you may imagine diamond jewelry or hear Rihanna’s single “Diamonds” in your mind. But did you know that diamond-infused skin care is becoming more and more popular?

While using diamond skincare may seem like a modern trend, it actually dates back to Roman times. The ancient civilization used diamond dust for the same reasons we do today: to brighten the skin, promote radiance, and to preserve a youthful glow.

Luxury skincare brand Rodial has hopped on the diamond skincare train with the Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum. This anti-aging serum promises to help your complexion look nourished and moisturised with a subtle veil of luminosity.

But is Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum right for you? To help you decide, we’ll give you all the details on the key ingredients in this formula, as well as the research that supports (or doesn’t support) their use in skin care. We’ll also share some Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum reviews so that you can get an idea of what customers really think of this product.

Is Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum Right For You?

Before we get into the details, here’s the TL;DR if you just want to know whether or not Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum is right for you.

  • Key ingredients? Chromabright, Skin Tightener ST, Diamond Powder, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C)
  • Skin type? Mature skin
  • Texture? Lightweight silky serum
  • Fragrance? Yes
  • Cruelty free? Yes
  • Cost? $135 USD for 1 fl oz

What Are The Key Ingredients in Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum?

In order to determine how well Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum performs, we’ll have to evaluate the key ingredients in this formula. Let’s get started.

Skin Tightener ST
You’ll notice an immediate lifting effect after applying Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum thanks to Skin Tightener ST, a mix of marine- and plant-derived film forming agents (similar to algae).

According to the manufacturer, the association of prolamine and polymannuronate has a synergic action for moisturising, filming, and smoothing effect. The result is an instant firming effect with improved smoothness and radiance.

Chromabright
Chromabright, known as Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate, is another key ingredient in Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum. It’s an advanced concealer that visibly brightens and unifies the skin while fighting against photoaging.

In vitro (in test tubes), it regulates the process of skin pigmentation by inhibiting tyrosinase, a key enzyme involved in melanin synthesis (melanin is the pigment responsible for skin color).

According to the manufacturer, Chromabright’s depigmentation activity is as effective as hydroquinone and more so than arbutin, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP) and kojic acid.

Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate)

Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (SAP) is a stable, water-soluble form of vitamin C that’s converted to ascorbic acid (the active form) after being absorbed into the skin.

Ascorbic acid is a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin from environmental free radical damage. It also helps fade dark spots, evens out skin tone, and increases radiance.

As if that wasn’t enough, research suggests that when vitamin C is applied to the skin, it significantly reverses aging-related structural changes by influencing collagen and elastin synthesis.

Unfortunately, there’s a low concentration (less than 1%) of SAP in Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum. This concentration may be enough to provide some benefits, but ultimately we would have preferred to see a higher concentration in this formula.

Diamond Powder

Diamond powder is included in the Rodial Pink Diamond Serum in order to provide luminosity and brighten the skin.

However, the beauty benefits you get from diamond powder are temporary. This is because diamonds are inactive and do not penetrate the skin.

When you wash your face, you’re washing off the diamonds, which prevents them from providing any sort of long-term benefit for your skin.

Synthetic Fragrance
One thing we noticed about the Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum is the inclusion of a synthetic fragrance blend.

You may already know that fragrance ingredients have the potential to cause skin irritation and sensitivity.

But did you know that the brand can use a proprietary blend of chemicals to create the fragrance in their product? On average, this consists of 30 to 50 chemicals (but it can have as much as 200 components).

Want to know the worst part? The brand does not have to disclose which chemicals they use on the label. They are allowed to list this blend as “Fragrance (Parfum)” on the ingredient list.

Furthermore, a 2018 study by Women’s Voices for the Earth discovered that in over 3,000 chemicals reportedly used for fragrances, 1,242 were chemicals of concern – and that included at least 7 possible carcinogenic (cancer-causing) agents.

Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum Reviews

We weren’t able to find very many Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting reviews; there’s only four customer reviews on the brand’s website and seven on Amazon. The reviews on Amazon are a mix of positive and negative, with the product receiving an average rating of 3.9 out of 5 stars.

The positive Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting reviews mention that it helps to reduce signs of aging while imparting a healthy looking glow.

For example, one review says, “I use this every morning underneath my moisturizer. This serum says what it does, instant lift and glow without weight.”

And another 5-star review says, “I love this product. My skin feels and looks like silk after using this product for only a week and I’m 65 years old.”

However, there are a handful of negative reviews for the Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum, mostly from customers who don’t think it’s worth the money.

For example, one review says, “Same results as any other skin cream. If you notice a little change and want it again you must continue to pay 290.00 for something you can get for $20.00. I should have saved that money and utilized it at the dermatologist. Rodial normally has good products but sorry I have to give this item thumbs down.”

And other reviews mention that the smell is very unpleasant, as one review says, “This product was really expensive. I tried it aaaaand here are the good things #1 it takes very little product to cover your face #2 it’s absorbed really quickly #3 not sticky or greasy #4 it really seems to lift wrinkles which is amazing. I put it on half my face and wow. Obvi difference. Buuuuuuut and this is a VERY large but – it reeks. It smells like a little old lady doused in baby powder is literally sitting on my face. I mean REEKS so bad like that old lady perfume you smell walking in the mall behind certain women. I’ve had it for at least 30 minutes and I can still smell it. I asked my bf and he said – Gross! Get away from me! Soooo you might look good, but no one will be able to be near you with this product.”

Our Verdict

While Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Serum contains a few beneficial ingredients, we don’t think that it’s worth the high price point.

Pros

  • Formula includes beneficial ingredients (Skin Tightener ST, Chromabright, sodium ascorbyl phosphate)
  • Rodial is cruelty free

Cons

  • High price point
  • Formula contains a synthetic fragrance blend
