09.28.18AD DISCLOSURE

There are several divides within the skincare industry, whether you’re looking at mainstream products, green beauty, or scientific/medical approaches. While there are hundreds of companies within each sector, there only a few that manage to successfully bridge the gap between two or three of the different sectors, Rhonda Allison being one of them. The happy medium between clinical, professional grade formulations and mainstream skincare, this brand focuses on education and ingredients first in order to create a well-rounded range of offerings.

What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2020?

Behind the Brand

Rhonda Allison, the CEO and founder of Rhonda Allison Clinical Enterprises has been in the industry for over 30 years. In her time, she has pioneered new techniques with acids and chemical peels, written multiple books, created a skincare line and educated dozens of aestheticians. The brand as a whole focuses on the most potent active ingredients that are backed by an exceptional amount of research in order to create a unique line of hard working, results oriented skincare.

Rhonda Allison Pumpkin Cleanser

Since Rhonda Allison is such an established brand, there are products within the line that have been fan favors for over 15 years. The Pumpkin Cleanser from Rhonda Allison is one of those products and continues to be the number one bestseller for the brand. This daily cleanser is suitable for all skin types and features a number of active ingredients that brighten and renew the skin. As the name would suggest, pumpkin is at the forefront of this formula due to its antioxidant properties.
Rhonda Allison Growth Factor Serum
Another cult favorite product from the line, the Growth Factor Gel is a quick drying, treatment moisturizer that is best suited for acne and oily prone skin types. This is a gel-type product so it sinks into the skin quickly and leaves very little residue on the skin, so your skin won’t feel heavy or greasy after application. Additionally, this product is best suited for those who are prone to irritation and inflammation, as the ingredients target those concerns specifically.

Inside The Ingredients

The entire Rhonda Allison line centers around a number of key active ingredients. As a research-first brand that also offers education to aspiring aestheticians, they aim to offer the most effective formulas possible. Within those formulas contain a number of key components, including lactic acid, pumpkin extract and epidermal growth factor.

Lactic Acid
Lactic acid is a powerful yet surprisingly gentle alpha hydroxy acid. In between glycolic and mandelic acid, this AHA has mid-sized molecules, so it is still capable of exfoliating the surface of the skin, but does not penetrate deep enough to cause irritation.

Along with that, lactic acid is the only AHA that can also act as a humectant, so it’s suitable for all skin types including those with dry and sensitive skin that normally reacts poorly to other actives.

Pumpkin
Pumpkin is incredibly beneficial to the skin in several forms. Pumpkin itself is chalk full of fruit enzymes and AHA’s which help to gently exfoliate the surface of the skin and reveal brighter, smoother skin. This ingredient also includes a number of antioxidants including vitamins A and C.

The oil from pumpkin seed oil can also be beneficial to the skin. With a comedogenic rating of 2, this oil is unlike to clog pores and can in fact nourish the skin while combating acne and irritation.

Epidermal Growth Factor
Epidermal Growth Factor, or EGF is a relatively new ingredient to skincare, but can actually be very effective. This ingredient is mainly used for its regenerative properties. Since this ingredient is already naturally occurring in our bodies, the addition of this in skincare helps to stimulate the cells in your skin to produce collagen. Additionally, the inclusion of EGF to skincare helps to accelerate the healing process. Because of both of those benefits, this ingredient pairs particularly well with anti-aging or anti-acne routines.

Review Recap

While there are a few reviews for most of the bestselling products in the Rhonda Allison range, there aren’t very many to choose from. The most popular, and well reviewed product in their range is definitely their Pumpkin Enzyme Cleanser, which has 34 reviews and a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Most reviewers felt that this cleanser offered an exceptional cleanse that was effectively without being too drying. Most of the other best sellers in this range also had around the same rating, but since this range is only available through select retailers and dermatologists offices, it can be hard to access this products.

With that said, professional skincare ranges like Rhonda Allison can be beneficial to those who have had difficulty finding effective potent formulas in the past. What cosmeceutical brands have you tried? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below!

Rhonda Allison Drops of Essence Review

Rhonda Allison Drops of Essence Hydration Drops is a silky, lightweight serum that is said to provide valuable hydration and tissue support to slow down aging skin. One of the key ingredients in this serum is linoleic acid, a type of omega-6 fatty acid. Studies have found that linoleic acid possesses anti-inflammatory, acne reductive, skin-lightening, and moisture retentive properties when applied topically. Linoleic acid is also known to strengthen the skin’s lipid barrier. A strong barrier protects the skin from environmental irritants and also prevents excessive water loss.

Next on the ingredient list for the Rhonda Allison Drops of Essence is oleic acid, which the brand mistakenly refers to as an omega-6 fatty acid. Oleic acid is an omega-9 monounsaturated fatty acid that functions as a penetration enhancer by disturbing the skin barrier. Rhonda Allison Drops of Essence also contains vitamin E (D-alpha-tocopherol). Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that protects the skin from free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. Vitamin E also helps the skin retain moisture by strengthening the skin’s barrier function. Lastly, Rhonda Allison Drops of Essence contains geranium essential oil and lavender essential oil. While these oils can have beneficial properties, they are also known to cause sensitization reactions due to volatile fragrance constituents. It’s important to note that research has demonstrated you don’t always need to immediately see or feel the sensitizing effects of these ingredients for your skin to suffer damage.

Rhonda Allison Growth Factor Serum Plus Review

Rhondap Allison Growth Factor Serum Plus is a regenerative serum that contains two key ingredients, EGF and chondroitin sulfate, that enhance regeneration and healing while moisturizing the skin. EGF stands for Epidermal Growth Factor, which is referred to as Rh-Oligopeptide-1 on the ingredient list. EGF is a protein naturally found in cells called fibroblasts, which are responsible for producing collagen. It is thought that EGF signals to fibroblasts to produce more collagen, which leads to cell growth, proliferation, and wound healing. Applying EGF to the skin helps to heal skin cells and provide them with strength and integrity.

Derived from shark cartilage, chondroitin sulfate is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan composed of a chain of alternating sugars. Chondroitin stimulates the skin’s memory cells, bolsters its immune system, and enhances moisturizing capabilities. The synergy of this with EGF increases and enhances regeneration and healing, and is also highly moisturizing. Rhonda Allison Growth Factor Serum Plus is also formulated with antioxidants, essential oils, beta glucan, squalane, phospholipids, botanical extracts, and several other beneficial ingredients.

I have been using the peptides eye cream and illuminating color. The containers seem to not function properly. The foundation comes out oily
Without color? The spa I go to in Southern California all the products are in the sunny side of the spa. The bottles are warm to the touch? Is this proper?

I just started using your illuminating
Color foundation. The fluid comes out separated, oily. The store cashier says just shake it a lot? Please know I have been using your products & the containers eventually fail. The spout or it comes apart? Not pleased.
