Lumiere Eye Cream

What is Lumiere Eye Cream?

Lumiere Eye Cream is an anti-aging eye cream formulated by the skin care brand Neocutis, a science-based company that heavily researches the active ingredients included in their products to ensure optimal performance. Lumiere Eye Cream is said to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, crow’s feet, puffiness and under-eye darkness. It is non-comedogenic, ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested, and free of color additives and fragrances. In this review, we’ll tell you more about the key ingredients in this eye cream, how to use it, and we’ll share Lumiere Eye Cream reviews from real customers.

What Are The Key Lumiere Eye Cream Ingredients?

Now that you know what Lumiere Eye Cream is claimed to do, let’s evaluate the key Lumiere Eye Cream ingredients to determine if these claims are true.

The majority of the Lumiere Eye Cream formulation is composed of emollients and emulsifiers, such as caprylic/capric triglyceride, C12-20 acid PEG-8 ester, and cetyl alcohol. There are also high concentrations of humectants, such as glycerin and butylene glycol. Humectants have structures with several hydrophilic (water-loving) groups that hydrogen bond with water, essentially “grabbing” it and holding it on the skin. Humectants pull water from the dermis to the epidermis and stratum corneum. In addition, humectants can draw water vapor from the air to help moisturize the skin if the humidity is over 50 percent.

Neocutis points out that the Lumiere Eye Cream includes their patented ingredient PSP, which stands for Processed Skin Cell Proteins. PSP is a patented blend of nourishing proteins and polypeptides that activates human growth factors, interleukins, and other cytokines to revitalize the skin and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Growth factors work on the inside to support the building of collagen and hyaluronic acid production, resulting in improved skin firmness and fewer lines and wrinkles.

Like most eye creams, the Lumiere Eye Cream contains a decent amount of caffeine. As a natural stimulant, caffeine causes vasoconstriction (constriction of the blood vessels) when applied to the skin. This function aids in reducing the amount of blood that accumulates under the eyes (a major factor that contributes to dark circles). Additionally, vasoconstriction can firm the skin due to the removal of excess fluids and possible stimulation of the lymphatic drainage system. Thus, the inclusion of caffeine in Lumiere Eye Cream is one way this eye cream can help reduce dark circles and puffiness.

Lumiere Eye Cream may also be able to brighten the skin around the eyes thanks to tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, a vitamin C derivative. Once absorbed into the skin, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is converted to ascorbic acid (the active form of vitamin C), which provides numerous benefits to the skin. Ascorbic acid exerts potent antioxidant activity. Like other antioxidants, ascorbic acid is capable of protecting the skin from free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Ascorbic acid also serves as a cofactor for two enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of collagen. According to the Indian Dermatology Online Journal, clinical studies have shown that the topical use of L-ascorbic acid increases collagen production in both young and aged human skin. By increasing the amount of collagen in the skin, signs of aging will be diminished and the skin will appear more firm. Lastly, ascorbic acid can decrease the appearance of dark spots and improve uneven skin tone through inhibition of melanin synthesis.

A final key ingredient in the Lumiere Eye Cream is bisabolol, a natural monocyclic sesquiterpene alcohol that is a major component of the essential oil derived from chamomile. Bisabolol has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and is therefore very soothing when applied to the skin. It has also been shown in studies to inhibit melanin synthesis, which should help reduce the appearance of undesirable dark spots on the skin, leading to a brighter complexion and more even skin tone.

Despite all of these beneficial ingredients found in the Lumiere Eye Cream, we think it’s important to point out that the formula does contain four different parabens. Parabens are preservatives used to extend the shelf life of a product by preventing microbial contamination. The use of parabens in cosmetics and skin care products is controversial because there is conflicting research on the potential health consequences of long term exposure to parabens. According to the EWG, parabens can act like the hormone estrogen in the body and disrupt the normal function of hormone systems affecting male and female reproductive system functioning, reproductive development, fertility, and birth outcomes.

Lumiere Eye Cream Reviews

Neocutis does not feature reviews for products on their website, most likely since these products can only be purchased by a physician. Therefore, we went over to to read Lumiere Eye Cream reviews. After almost 400 customer reviews, Lumiere Eye Cream has received 78% 5-star ratings.

Positive Lumiere Eye Cream reviews mention that the cream applies easily, leaving the skin feeling smooth and moisturized. Others also mention that it really helps to brighten the under eye area. For example, one review says, “You only need the tiniest bit of this product to do the job! The price was a deterrent to me initially, but now I see that this product will last a long time. I’ve noticed significant brightening in my under eye area since switching to this product and a bit softer wrinkles (though not dramatic). I’ve been using for about a month now – will continue to watch the effects over time. Inarguably the best eye cream I’ve ever used.”

The negative Lumiere Eye Cream reviews are mostly from customers who did not see the results they were looking for even after months of using this cream. For example, one review says, “I used this eye cream for 10 months and didn’t notice any difference. I feel like my dark circles and fine lines looked as if I wasn’t even using anything.” There are also some reviews from customers who experienced negative reactions after using this cream, such as burning and irritation.

What Are Some Alternatives to Lumiere Eye Cream?

Overall, we think that the Lumiere Eye Cream is formulated well and contains several beneficial anti-aging ingredients, including growth factors, caffeine, vitamin C, and more. The one problem is the inclusion of parabens. If you’re concerned about the presence of parabens in the Lumiere Eye Cream, we have an alternative for you to consider: Formulyst’s Anti-Dark Circle Eye Cream.

This lightweight, fast-acting formulation combines a rich blend of vitamins, amino acids, and minerals to help visibly brighten and smooth the delicate skin in the eye area. Key ingredients in this Formulyst eye cream include caffeine, quinoa seed extract, and butcher’s broom extract. If you recall from above, caffeine is a beneficial ingredient to include in eye creams because it can help to reduce dark circles and puffiness. Quinoa seed extract is rich in essential fatty acids, which help to replenish the skin’s barrier function. Butcher’s broom extract has astringent and soothing properties. Together, these ingredients help to brighten and smooth the under eye area.

Another excellent option is Formulyst’s Anti-Aging Eye Cream, an advanced treatment that helps to blur away dark circles, puffiness, and even stubborn crow’s feet. Key ingredients in the Anti-Aging Eye Cream include hyaluronic acid, squalane, shea butter, and snow mushroom extract. Hyaluronic acid improves skin hydration while also providing a plumping effect to fill in lines and wrinkles. Squalane and shea butter are both emollients that lock in moisture and help the delicate skin around the eyes to feel soft. Snow mushroom extract has a gelatinous structure and rich composition of polysaccharides, which enables this ingredient to bind water and provide hydration to the skin. Research has also demonstrated that snow mushroom extract has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

I feel stupid to have been deceived into buying the 180 under eye cream. It is so terrible, my eyes looked 100years old after applying, really wrinkly and dry. Even the packaging was awful; the pump didnt even work.
I cant believe they can get away with selling something that doesn’t work but also makes things worse.
    Shame on you Luminere Rouge

Rip OFF!!!! They get you to try their Free sample and only pay Shipping next thing you know your credit card is being billed $275. If the product was so good why would they have to trick you into buying it. Very deceptive. Also, the product arrived and 3 days later my card was being billed, when I called to complain they were like ” How do you like the product?” Can we give you a discount to keep it?” Are you kidding me? Is it a miracle product that in 3 days you know how it is working. THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD!!!! Shark Tank should be ashamed they are a part of the lure to suck you into the scam!!!

A scam…do not go for their $4.98 shipping. They will start billing you $98.41 monthly and it is impossible to cancel order. Needed to put a fraud alert on my card to stop billing.

Giant Rip-Off by an unscrupulous company doing business under many names such as Lumiere, VitaComplexion, Beauty Samples, CRM. They’ll get your credit card number and start sending monthly “subscription” orders at $100 each. If you try to cancel, the cancellation order will come under a different company name, so when you try to prove to the credit card company that you canceled, you have a cancellation order # from a company of a different name. We had to close the credit card and get a new one since these shysters wouldn’t stop charging our card. Meanwhile, the “Lumiere” sucks – it’s snake oil.
