The Story Behind Kylie Skin
Kylie Jenner was inspired to create her line of skin care products — Kyle Skin — soon after launching Kylie Cosmetics because she realized that skin care and makeup go hand in hand. The entire Kylie Skin line is cruelty free, vegan, gluten free, paraben, and sulfate free and suitable for all skin types. After her launch in 2019, the collection of pale pink bottles and tubes that make up the Kylie Skin care collection sold out in a matter of hours. In this review, we’ll cover the brand’s best selling products, key ingredients, Kylie Skin reviews from real customers, and more.

What Are The Top 8 Best Selling Kylie Skin Care Products?
The Kylie Skin collection offers products for every step of your skin care routine, including cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, eye care, body care, and more. The brand does offer the Kylie Skin Set if you’d like to try the Kylie Skin routine all in one complete set. But if you’d rather pick and choose from the best sellers, keep reading to learn more about the top eight best selling Kylie Skin Care products.
Coconut Body Lotion
The Kyle Skin Coconut Body Lotion contains a nourishing blend of ingredients like coconut oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, oat extract, and indian ginseng. These ingredients will help to soothe and moisturize your skin, leaving it looking healthy and youthful.
Eye Cream
The Kylie Skin Eye Cream is said to help brighten, hydrate, and reduce puffiness and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. A few of the key ingredients in this eye cream include caffeine, green tea, vitamin E, and pomegranate extract.
Face Sunscreen
The Kylie Skin Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Face Sunscreen is a lightweight, fragrance free sunscreen that is said to help moisturize, smooth, and protect your face from UVA and UVB rays. The active sunscreen ingredients in this Kylie Skin sunscreen include avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene. These are all classified as chemical sunscreen agents, which protect the skin by first absorbing UV light, then transforming that light energy into some other form of energy, such as heat. In addition to these key ingredients, the formula contains shea butter, kiwi seed oil, and vitamins C and E.
Sunscreen Oil
The Kylie Skin Sunscreen Oil is a non-messy, non-aerosol spray that easily applies to the skin without a white residue. This sunscreen oil contains the same active sunscreen ingredients as the Face Sunscreen — avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene — to provide SPF 30 protection against UVA and UVB rays. Additional key ingredients include coconut oil, kiwi seed oil, and shea butter. One problem with this formulation is the high concentration of denatured alcohol. We understand why this was included in the formula — denatured alcohol gives products a quick-drying finish, immediately degreases the skin, and imparts a weightless feel. However, long term use of products with high concentrations of denatured alcohol can lead to skin dryness, irritation, and even disruption of the skin barrier. This is something to keep in mind before trying the Kylie Skin Sunscreen Oil.
Foaming Face Wash
One of the brand’s most popular products is the Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash, a gentle daily face wash that is said to help remove dirt, oil, and makeup for a fresh, bright complexion. Like most cleansers, the Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash includes surfactants. A surfactant molecule contains one end that is hydrophilic (attracted to water) and one end that is lipophilic (attracted to oil). This allows surfactants to attract and suspends oils, dirt, and other impurities that have accumulated on the skin and wash them away.
Vitamin C Serum
The Kylie Skin Vitamin C Serum primarily contains water, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (a vitamin C derivative), and glycerin (a humectant). The brand claims that the serum is “packed with ingredients that penetrate the skin to help brighten and help improve overall skin health”. However, the rest of the ingredients in this serum are used in very low concentrations (less than 1%). We know this by looking at the ingredient list (which is in order of descending concentrations). All of these ingredients are listed after the preservative phenoxyethanol, which cannot be used in concentrations more than 1%.
Hyaluronic Acid Serum
The Kylie Skin Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a lightweight formula that contains four layers of hyaluronic acid, as well as rice bran water, niacinamide, apple fruit extract, peptides, and more. This serum is said to deliver hydration throughout the day to improve the look and feel of your skin.
Face Moisturizer
The Kylie Skin Face Moisturizer includes a combination of humectants and emollients that help hydrate skin without heaviness, greasiness, or oiliness. A few of the key ingredients in this moisturizer include shea butter, sodium hyaluronate, oat bran extract, orange peel extract, and banana leaf extract. It is recommended to use the Kylie Skin Face Moisturizer in the morning to create the perfect base for your makeup or before bed for continuous hydration while you sleep. It is suitable for all skin types.
What Are The Key Ingredients in Kylie Skin Care Products?
You’ll find a variety of key ingredients used throughout the Kylie Skin collection, but we did notice that there are a few key ingredients that are used in almost all of the Kylie Skin care products. A few examples of those ingredients include coconut oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, and vitamin C. Let’s take a closer look at these key ingredients and how they may benefit your skin.
Coconut oil is used in several Kyle Skin products — such as the Kylie Skin Coconut Body Lotion and Sunscreen Oil — which is great because coconut oil offers many benefits to the skin. Coconut oil contains between 80 and 90% saturated fat and, therefore, is very stable even when exposed to heat and oxygen. According to a publication in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, topical application of coconut oil helps to strengthen the skin barrier, promotes faster wound healing, and even protects the skin from UV radiation.
Shea butter is another key ingredient that is used in almost all Kylie Skin care products, including the Kylie Skin Eye Cream, Face Moisturizer, both sunscreens, and more. Shea butter contains a mix of both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. The rich supply of triglycerides and fatty acids in shea butter help to replenish the skin’s natural barrier function. Shea butter functions as an emollient that works to soften and soothe the skin. Since shea butter melts at body temperature, it is able to coat the skin and form an occlusive film. This film helps to prevent evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture and increases skin hydration by causing buildup of water in the stratum corneum (the uppermost layer of skin).
Another key ingredient that you’ll find in Kylie Skin care products is jojoba oil. Jojoba oil contains mostly long-chain fatty acid esters (97%), but also contains small amounts of vitamins, minerals, triglycerides, phospholipids, and tocopherols. Jojoba oil can benefit all skin types because the chemical composition of jojoba oil mimics the skin’s natural sebum more closely than any other oil. Research has shown that jojoba oil improves the skin’s barrier function and helps to prevent transepidermal water loss. It also has proven anti-inflammatory effects and can provide soothing effects upon application. Overall, the use of jojoba oil in Kylie Skin care products helps promote softer, healthier, and better hydrated skin.
Vitamin C is the key ingredient in the Kylie Skin Vitamin C Serum, but it’s also used in the Kylie Skin Eye Cream. The form of vitamin C that is used is a fat-soluble vitamin C derivative called tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. It is believed that this form of vitamin C can penetrate the skin better than other water-soluble forms because its fatty acid component helps aid penetration. Once inside the skin, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is converted to ascorbic acid (the active form of vitamin C). Ascorbic acid is a potent antioxidant, acts as a coenzyme for enzymes involved in collagen synthesis, and inhibits the synthesis of melanin. According to the Indian Dermatology Online Journal, clinical studies have shown that the topical use of ascorbic acid increases collagen production in both young and aged human skin. Due to these actions, ascorbic acid is able to improve radiance and skin texture while diminishing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet.

Kylie Skin Reviews
Kylie Skin reviews on the brand’s website are overall very positive, with most products receiving four and five star ratings. The product with the most reviews is the Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash, which has received an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars after more than 5,000 customer reviews.
Positive Kylie Skin reviews for the Foaming Face Wash are from customers who liked the texture of this face wash and that it effectively removes makeup. For example, one review says, “I love this face wash so much!! It’s like massaging a cloud on your skin, and I feel like it really does an amazing job at getting all the makeup off from the day!”
There are even some Kylie Skin reviews for the Foaming Face Wash from customers with sensitive skin who had no problem with this cleanser. For example, one review says, “This is by far an amazing face wash & I can’t say enough good things about this product. I have a very sensitive face to many products & this wash made my face super clean & soft to the touch. I now have a clear face with no breakouts & it hasn’t been this way in years.”
However, we did read a few Kylie Skin reviews for the Foaming Face Wash from customers who experienced breakouts after using this cleanser. For example, one review says, “I have never had issues with pimples or acne. I get a pimple maybe once a month. Just bought this to try something new and because of the great reviews. After using this product for a week I had a massive cyst like zit on my face along with 5 other pimples. Very disappointed, I guess my expectations for the price were just too high.”
What Are Some Alternatives to Kylie Skin?
Overall, we think that most Kylie Skin care products are formulated well with tried-and-true ingredients that are well known to benefit the skin, such as coconut oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, vitamin C, and more. But keep in mind that these are pretty standard ingredients that you can find in many skin care products. You may want to purchase Kylie Skin care products because you’re a fan of Kylie Jenner, but if you’re looking for innovative anti-aging products with unique key ingredients, we’d recommend Formulyst.
One Formulyst product we recommend is the Ultimate Youth Concentrate. The formula combines plant cells with a concentrated combination of five unique peptides that can stimulate the production of Epidermal Growth Factors (EGF). EGF is a protein naturally found in cells called fibroblasts, which are responsible for producing collagen. It is thought that EGF signals to fibroblasts to produce more collagen, which leads to cell growth, proliferation, and wound healing. As we age, our ability to produce EGF decreases, resulting in the key signs that contribute to aging skin. Applying products that increase EGF production, such as the Formulyst Ultimate Youth Concentrate, may increase skin strength and integrity.
There’s no need to compromise when it comes to finding skincare that is effective and safe. Carrot & Stick takes a tough love approach to skincare, perfectly balancing the power of plants with cutting edge science. Not only is Carrot & Stick good for your skin, it is also good for the environment as the formulas skip harmful chemicals commonly found in skin care products.
