Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment Review: Does Keranique Work?

SKIN CARE REVIEWS

02.21.24DISCLAIMER

Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment is a topical solution formulated specifically for women with thinning hair. The brand promises that this treatment is clinically proven to reactivate dormant hair follicles and help regrow hair.

So does Keranique work? Is there any research to support the ingredients in the Hair Regrowth Treatment? Are there any side effects?

Below we’ll answer these questions and more, discussing everything you need to know about Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment.

We’ll also share some Keranique reviews so that you can get an idea of what customers really think of the Hair Regrowth Treatment.

What Are The Key Ingredients in Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment?

There’s only one key ingredient in the Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment and that’s 2% Minoxidil.

An interesting fact about minoxidil is that it was initially made as an oral medication to treat high blood pressure. Coincidentally, doctors observed hair regrowth in balding patients, which led to the development of a topical minoxidil formulation for treating androgenetic alopecia first in male and then in female individuals.

Today, topical 2% minoxidil is a standard dose that’s commonly used in hair regrowth treatments for women, and it’s the only FDA-approved ingredient clinically proven to help women regrow hair.

According to a publication in the journal Drug Design, Development and Therapy, minoxidil affects follicular cells by enhancing hair growth and reducing hair loss.

While the exact mechanism of action for minoxidil isn’t clear, it is known that minoxidil functions as a vasodilator (it widens the blood vessels, allowing for increased blood flow and circulation throughout the body).

Functioning as a vasodilator, it may assist in hair loss treatment by enlarging hair follicles and extending the growth phase of hair. This prolonged growth phase can result in enhanced hair coverage on the scalp.

There is a substantial body of research demonstrating the effectiveness of topical minoxidil for promoting hair growth, particularly in treating male and female pattern hair loss.

A publication in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology shares the results of a randomized, placebo-controlled trial comparing 5% and 2% topical minoxidil solutions in the treatment of female pattern hair loss

In the 48-week study of 381 women, 5% topical minoxidil outperformed placebo in promoting hair growth, as assessed by changes in nonvellus hair count and patient/investigator evaluations of hair growth and scalp coverage.

Application of 2% topical minoxidil also surpassed placebo in nonvellus hair counts and investigator assessments at week 48, with no significant differences in patient evaluations compared to placebo.

Overall, the 5% group showed statistical superiority over the 2% group in patient assessment of treatment benefit at week 48, and both concentrations were well tolerated without systemic adverse effects.

What Are The Benefits of Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment?

The active ingredient in Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment — 2% minoxidil — is clinically proven to offer the following benefits:

  • Promote hair regrowth in areas affected by female pattern hair loss
  • Improve overall hair volume
  • Potentially slow down hair thinning

However, results may vary among individuals, and it typically takes at least several weeks to several months of continuous use before significant improvements can be seen.

Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment Side Effects

While generally well-tolerated, some people may experience side effects such as scalp irritation, burning, dryness, or itching.

According to WebMD, in rare cases, minoxidil can be absorbed through the skin and cause side effects such as unwanted facial/body hair, dizziness, fast/irregular heartbeat, fainting, chest pain, swelling of hands/feet, unusual weight gain, tiredness, and difficulty breathing especially when lying down.

It is important for individuals using minoxidil (Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment) to follow the recommended application instructions and consult with a healthcare professional if experiencing any adverse reactions.

How to Use Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment?

The directions on the brand’s website state to apply 1 mL with the sprayer (6 sprays) two times a day directly onto the scalp in the hair loss area. Using more or more often will not improve results. Continued use is necessary to increase and keep your hair regrowth, or hair loss will begin again.
