Vitamin C is one of the tried and true gold standard ingredients in the world of beauty and skincare. It’s also considered to be one of the most versatile ingredients, and can help with everything from fine lines and wrinkles to hyperpigmentation and acne. Because of this, brands like Image Skincare have dedicated entire lines to highlighting this key ingredient and designing formulas that allow it to work most effectively. But how exactly do these products work? Today, we’re going to be looking at some of Image Skincare’s best selling products from the Vital C line to give you all the details. So without further adieu, let’s get started!

Who Is The Image Skincare Vital C Range For?

The Image Skincare Vital C Range has been formulated to highlight the anti-aging benefits, so this collection is best suited for those whose primary concerns include fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. Additionally, the brand indicates that these products are suitable for all skin types including dry and dehydrated skin, sensitive skin, sun damaged skin and even oily or acne prone skin.

Image Skincare Vital C

The Image Skincare Vital C range consists of ten facial products and one body product, all of which contain many of the same active ingredients. With so much variety, this allows you to play with vitamin C as an active, and find the best way to interject this ingredient into your daily or nightly routine.

The range has three new products that have been released in 2018. These include their Vital C Hydrating Water Burst, the Vital C Hydrating Antioxidant A C E Serum and the Vital C Hydrating Overnight Masque. The first product is a lightweight, gel-like moisturizer that is ideal for those who are looking for a more lightweight moisturizer this summer, while the Vital C Hydrating Overnight Masque serves as a heavier, creamier overnight hydrating masque that can also double as a nighttime moisturizer for those with severely dry skin. The Vital C Hydrating Antioxidant A C E Serum combines several actives to make for a more potent serum. Of all of the new releases, this product is the most concentrated, and may take some time to adjust to if you’re just starting out with vitamin C.

In addition to their new releases, the Vital C range also houses some of Image Skincare’s most popular and best selling products, including this Vital C Hydrating Anti-Aging Serum. Of the entire collection, this is the most traditional vitamin C serum you’ll find, with a blend of vitamin C derivatives and ascorbic acid that works to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also helping with acne scars and hyperpigmentation. But what makes this serum more unique and different from others on the market is the inclusion of a polypeptide complex, which helps to further the anti-aging effects of vitamin C.

Formula Focus

Looking at the Image Skincare Vital C Hydrating Anti-Aging Serum, we can see exactly how the brand blends their active blends with other ingredients to create a well-rounded, effective formula. In general, vitamin C is one of the most difficult ingredients to formulate with, as vitamin C in it’s more potent form is incredibly unstable. Without a proper formula to help with this issue, a vitamin C serum can oxidize, which causes the active ingredient is gradually lose potency and become almost completely ineffective. So how does the image Skincare Formula help to combat this issue?

Unfortunately, Image Skincare does not provide a complete ingredients list for their products online, so it’s almost impossible to know exactly what’s in this formula and the concentration of the active ingredients before purchasing. For this reason, we recommend that those with sensitive skin proceed with caution when ordering these products online, as you could potentially find an ingredient in the formula that is a known skin irritant for you. On a more positive note however, the brand does list out their key ingredients, which does give us insight into how the formula works all together.

Starting out with their vitamin C component, Image Skincare is one of the few brands that uses a blend of vitamin C derivatives and ascorbic acid in their products. Ascorbic acid is the purest form of vitamin C, and has been proven to penetrate and does not need to be converted to start working to improve the skin. Because of this, ascorbic acid is considered to be the gold standard in Vitamin C-based products. But, while ascorbic acid is the most effective, it’s also the most difficult to work with. Many find that vitamin C can be irritating at first due to its potency, and it make take a few weeks for your skin to adjust to the active ingredient. Additionally, ascorbic acid needs to be formulated at a specific pH in order to be effective, making it even more difficult to formulate with. Vitamin C derivatives on the other hand, don’t have nearly as many challenges. They are much easier to formulate with, do not oxidize quickly, and are much gentler, especially for those who are new to vitamin C. But there is a big downside to their use. The science and research behind these derivatives, have yet to prove that these alternatives can do all that ascorbic acid can. While there is anecdotal evidence to suggest that you can achieve a similar result with these derivatives, ascorbic acid still reigns supreme in terms of efficacy.

By using a blend of vitamin C derivatives and pure ascorbic acid, Image Skincare has attempted to give their customers the best of both worlds. The formula will likely last a little bit longer than a traditional vitamin C serum, and be a bit gentler as well, making this an excellent option for beginners who are just starting to incorporate actives into their skincare routine. Additionally, this product also includes a polypeptide complex to boost the anti-aging benefits of vitamin C as well as green tea extract to boost its antioxidant properties. With this blend of actives, you’ll hopefully be able to notice some of the anti-aging benefits that have made vitamin C so famous.

How to Use the Image Skincare Vital C Range

The Image Skincare Vital C Range offers all kinds of formats, making it much easier to interject vitamin C into your skincare routine. If you find that you like the serums that you’re currently using and just want a small boost of vitamin C in your morning and evening routine, products like their Vital C Hydrating Intense Moisturizer may be a perfect fit for your lifestyle. On the other hand, if you want a more concentrated product, applying one of their vitamin C serums right after cleansing, before you apply any other hydrating products, will allow you to reap the benefits of vitamin C much sooner.

I just started using Image Vital C moisturizer and overnight mask. I ended up with what the dermatologist referred to chemical burns and major skin irritations. Like AJ I started to breakout and they were very itchy. I continued to use the product and end up with burns all over my face. So depressing. Invested over 100 for prettier skin and it’s absolutely awful now 🙁

I love image and have been using their vital c range along side other products for some time. I recently added the vital c serum to my regime and noticed i was getting quite bad acne which was really itchy on my cheeks. I didn’t know what was causing it, even went to the doctor. I stopped using the serum 5 days ago after stumbling on some reading material indictating the possible side effects of vit c serums… my skin has almost completely cleared. Don’t get me wrong, my skin loves all my other image products but will be giving the serum a miss from now on.
