You’ve always heard that makeup is bad for your skin, right? Well, that is true for typical cosmetic products, which contain ingredients that can clog pores, leading to dull skin and acne. Then, you have to use even more makeup to cover up the problems caused by your makeup. What a mess!

But did you know that there is some makeup that can actually be good for your skin? Glo Skin Beauty has figured out a way to combine makeup and skincare together in order to keep your skin healthy and beautiful.

The creation of Glo Skin Beauty was inspired by the belief that makeup should be an extension of skin care. The brand’s philosophy is that when skin care and makeup solutions are paired together they can work synergistically to reveal your authentic self. Glo Skin Beauty develops innovative skincare formulas based on specific skin types, as well as specialty treatment products to tackle your top skin concerns. In other words, Glo Skin Beauty understands there’s no one size fits all when it comes to skin care. In this review, we’ll discuss the brand’s best selling products, key ingredients, Glo Skin Beauty reviews from real customers, and more.

The Top 5 Glo Skin Beauty Skincare Products

Glo Skin Beauty skincare products include cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, exfoliants, eye care, lip care, and more. Below we’ll give you the details on the top 5 best selling Glo Skin Beauty skincare products.

Renew Serum
One of the most popular Glo Skin Beauty skincare products is the Renew Serum, which is designed to draw out impurities and minimize the look of pores for clearer, refined skin. The key ingredients in this serum are retinol, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid. These three ingredients are all effective at minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving uneven skin tone, restoring skin firmness, and shrinking the appearance of enlarged pores. Of note, the Glo Skin Beauty Renew Serum contains a very high concentration of denatured alcohol (it’s the second highest concentration ingredient only after water). As you’ll learn in the next section, denatured alcohol is a problematic ingredient for all skin types.

ALTERNATIVES: Carrot & Stick The Repair Serum. It contains 7 peptides for smoother, firmer looking skin.

Oil Free Moisturizer
Another best selling Glo Skin Beauty skincare product is the Oil Free Moisturizer. Interestingly, while the name implies that this product is free of oils, the list of ingredients includes jojoba seed oil. Although the name is misleading, we can’t knock Glo Skin Beauty for adding oil to this moisturizer. Why? Because jojoba oil is one of the best ingredients that you can use on your skin. In fact, the chemical composition of jojoba oil mimics the skin’s natural sebum more closely than any other oil. Therefore, jojoba oil will normalize the skin’s sebum levels and clear out pores, which can help those with acne prone skin to reduce the chance of breakouts. In addition, research has shown that jojoba oil improves the skin’s barrier function and helps to prevent transepidermal water loss. It also has proven anti-inflammatory effects and can provide soothing effects upon application. Overall, jojoba oil promotes softer, healthier, and better hydrated skin.

ALTERNATIVES: Carrot & Stick The Moisturizer. It’s overflowing with potent plant proteins, vitamins, peptides and amino-collagen.

Lightening Serum
Glo Skin Beauty Lightening Serum combines 2% hydroquinone with key lightening ingredients such as azelaic acid, lactic acid, kojic acid, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in order to help lighten the skin and reduce hyperpigmentation. However, similar to the Glo Skin Beauty Renew Serum, this formula contains a high concentration of denatured alcohol. While denatured alcohol might temporarily degrease the skin, it will ultimately lead to skin dryness and even damage with continued use.

Daily Power C Serum
This Glo Skin Beauty Vitamin C Serum contains 15% of the stable vitamin C derivative 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid in order to provide daily anti-pollution and environmental protection while helping to strengthen and brighten the skin. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that can help to protect the skin from free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. Vitamin C is also known to stimulate the synthesis of collagen and inhibit the formation of melanin. Ultimately, this means that the Glo Skin Beauty Vitamin C Serum not only provides antioxidant protection, but also anti-aging and skin-brightening effects. However, like many of the Glo Skin Beauty serums, this formula contains a high concentration of denatured alcohol.

Our favorite Vitamin C serum is Carrot & Stick The Defence Serum. It contains 3 distinct types of Vitamin C that work together to help fight free radical damage.

Oil Free Tinted Primer SPF 30
The final Glo Skin Beauty skincare product that we will discuss is the Oil Free Tinted Primer SPF 30. This product is the perfect example of how Glo Skin Beauty combines skin-healthy ingredients with makeup in order to provide you with complete coverage throughout the day. This primer combines the physical sunscreens titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in order to provide broad spectrum SPF 30 protection. This means they protect your skin by using physical UV filters to block or deflect UV light. The Glo Skin Beauty Oil Free Tinted Primer dries with a semi-matte finish and is available in four different tints that provide sheer to medium coverage.

What Are The Key Glo Skin Beauty Skincare Ingredients?

The key formulation behind the Glo Skin Beauty skin care products is dependent upon your skin type. The company offers a six question quiz that provides you with the skin care regimen that is best for you based on your skin type and specific skin concerns. For instance, if you have oily skin, Glo Skin Beauty recommends products that are formulated to regulate oil production and help keep pores clear with antibacterial, purifying and oil-controlling agents.

The key formulation behind the Glo Skin Beauty makeup consists of ultra-fine minerals and a proprietary blend of the antioxidant vitamins A, C, E, and green tea extract. One of the key minerals used in Glo products is mica. Mica is the term for 34 types of minerals that contain silica. By covering flecks of mica in titanium dioxide, the pearlescent product can reflect all the colors of the rainbow. The iridescence from mica can create depth and help to hide fine lines.

As we mentioned above, most of the Glo Skin Beauty skincare products contain high concentrations of denatured alcohol. The problem with this type of alcohol is that, at first, it seems like it’s benefitting the skin. It gives products a quick-drying finish, immediately degreases the skin, and imparts a weightless feel.

The major problem with using high concentrations of denatured alcohol is that this ingredient is well known to cause skin dryness and irritation. In fact, alcohol can dry out the skin so much that the skin will produce more oil over time to compensate for the dryness. This can lead to clogged pores and breakouts. Furthermore, alcohol can disrupt the lipids that make up the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of skin), according to a 2012 publication in the journal BBA Biomembranes.

Where Are Glo Skin Beauty Skincare Products Sold?

What is The Glo Skin Beauty Return Policy?

The Glo Skin Beauty return policy states, “We know that it can be difficult to choose the correct product or shade when ordering beauty products online. For that reason, we accept the exchange of any Glo Skin Beauty products within 15 days of the original purchase accompanied by the original invoice for account credit. For unopened, unused products, we will accept returns within 30 days of the original purchase, accompanied by the original invoice.”

Is Glo Skin Beauty Cruelty Free?

Glo Skin Beauty is certified cruelty-free by PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies Program. They do not test on animals during product development or production—or allow any third parties to do so with their products.

What Are The Best Alternatives?

If you’re looking for skincare products to address the signs of aging, we recommend Carrot & Stick. Carrot & Stick maximizes the use of powerful ingredients and minimizes the use of superficial ones, resulting in advanced skincare solutions that help promote healthy, more youthful-looking skin.

I have been using Glo products for awhile now but just recently found out their eye creams and moisturizers are only a quarter full to the bottle. They use larger containers but do not fill them up even half way!! What a deceptions as these are not cheap products. Not sure if I will continue to purchase. Very upset!

I was supposed to be getting a free trial bottle and only paying shipping. They later charged me $129. 87 for a .5 bottle of skin glow anti aging cream. When I called customer service they repeatedly hung up on me.

I have used Glo Products for close to 18 years and loved it until this year. They have made changes in their skin care line that is very irritating plus there is a strange odor to the Restorative cream. I have returned many products this year which I never had to do in the past. What have they done to the product line? I am 65 and have good skin but one of their customer service people basically are all really nice except for one who said she did not know what my issue was, they refund your money back quickly but I do not know where to go from here.
