SKIN CARE REVIEWS

12.10.22DISCLAIMER

Disco Eye Stick is one of the best selling products by mens skincare brand Disco. It’s an eye cream that you apply via a roller applicator to help fight dark circles and puffy under eye bags. And there’s many Disco Eye Stick reviews that confirm how well it works.

But is Disco Eye Stick right for you? To help you out, we’ll give you all the details on the key ingredients in this formula, as well as the research that supports (or doesn’t support) their use in skincare.

We’ll also share some Disco Eye Stick reviews so that you can get an idea of what customers really think of this product.

Is Disco Eye Stick Right For You?

Before we get into the details, here’s the TL;DR if you just want to know whether or not Disco Eye Stick is right for you.

  • Key ingredients? Niacinamide, caffeine, pycnogenol
  • Skin type? Recommended for all skin types
  • Texture? Rich cream
  • Fragrance? Eucalyptus oil
  • Cruelty free? Yes
  • Cost? $32 USD

What Are The Key Ingredients in Disco Eye Stick?

In order to determine how well Disco Eye Stick performs, we’ll have to evaluate the key ingredients, which include niacinamide, caffeine, and pycnogenol. Let’s get started.

Niacinamide

We love that Disco Eye Stick contains a decent amount of niacinamide, which is one of the best skin care ingredients, in our opinion.

Here’s why we love niacinamide: A publication in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, states that niacinamide can repair the skin barrier and improve skin moisture, as well as reduce inflammation, blotchiness, hyperpigmentation, and wrinkling.

Niacinamide is able to provide all these benefits because it’s a potent antioxidant.

Antioxidants protect skin from free radicals, the unstable molecules that can attack important cellular components — such as DNA, cell membranes, and proteins like collagen — causing damage. This damage is known as “oxidative stress” and over time this stress can lead to signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.

Caffeine

You’re probably already aware of the energy-boosting, focus-enhancing benefits of ingesting caffeine, but did you know caffeine also provides many benefits to the skin?

Caffeine is an antioxidant and therefore protects against free radical damage. It’s also a stimulant that causes vasoconstriction (constriction of the blood vessel) when applied to the skin.

Vasoconstriction can tighten and firm the skin due to the removal of excess fluids and possible stimulation of the lymphatic drainage system.

This effect also aids in reducing the amount of blood that accumulates under the eyes — a major factor that contributes to dark circles.

Ultimately, this means the caffeine in Disco Eye Stick should help to reduce puffiness and dark circles under your eyes.

Pycnogenol

Pycnogenol is the trade name for an extract derived from the French Maritime pine tree. Just like niacinamide and caffeine, pycnogenol is a potent antioxidant that can help neutralize oxidative stress.

The brand also claims that pycnogenol can assist with reducing the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. But is this true?

We discovered that most of the research on pycnogenol examined the effects of oral supplementation. The studies that evaluated topical application were in vitro (in a test tube) or performed on mice.

One study applied a pycnogenol lotion to the skin of mice and found that it “appears to have potential in providing photoprotection for humans in a complementary role with sunscreens”. In simple terms, this means it can help to protect your skin from UV damage — but you still need to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen every day.

While there isn’t much research on the topical use of pycnogenol, we at least know that it should provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Disco Eye Stick Reviews

Disco Eye Stick reviews on the brand’s website are overwhelmingly positive, with the product receiving an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars after more than 150 customer reviews.

There are many 5-star Disco Eye Stick reviews from customers who love that it helps to improve dark circles and under eye bags.

For example, one review says, “I’ve been using the Disco stick for about a week and I’m already noticing the darkness around my eyes to lighten. I hope it continues! Will be purchasing again.”

And another 5-star review says, “I’ve tried several different solutions for under eye bags and I must say that this one works the best. Ive been using it for almost 2 weeks and can see a noticeable reduction in my under eye bags. I do recommend this product.”

There are a handful of 4-star Disco Eye Stick reviews from customers who like the formula itself, but had a problem with the roller ball.

For example, one review says, “Product is amazing, however the concerns with the new packaging are valid. I have to pop the roller off to get any product out, hopefully once the level has dropped a bit, then the roller applicator will work better.”

However, Disco Eye Stick reviews on Amazon tell a much different story. On Amazon, the product has received an average rating of only 3.2 out of 5 stars after more than 200 customer reviews.

The negative reviews are either concerning the roller ball applicator not working, or the formula itself not providing any results.

For example, one review says, “Worthless product. Not worth what I paid for. Lotta hype, zero results.”

And another review says, “My rollerball isn’t working most of the time, consequently I don’t get any product out most of the time. I will be sending it back for a replacement…I don’t like paying the money and it works 1 out of 10 times (I think).”

Our Verdict

Overall, we think that Disco Eye Stick is formulated well, and it should help to brighten and de-puff the skin around the eyes.

Pros

  • Formulated with beneficial key ingredients (niacinamide, caffeine, pycnogenol)
  • Many positive Disco Eye Stick reviews
  • Disco is cruelty free

Cons

  • Several Disco Eye Stick reviews mention problems with the roller ball applicator
  • Little research to support the brand’s claims about pycnogenol
