Dime Eyelash Serum Review

SKIN CARE REVIEWS

01.14.23DISCLAIMER

Eyelashes can become thin and sparse over the years due to a number of factors, such as hormonal changes, medical conditions, and habits like excessive rubbing.

While mascara can help create the look of longer, darker lashes, we understand there’s days when you just don’t feel like putting on makeup. If that sounds like you, an eyelash serum is an option to help regrow your lashes.

What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2023?

Dime Eyelash Serum is formulated to improve length, density, quantity, and strength of hair as well as overall follicle health. The result? Longer, thicker, healthier eyelashes.

But is Dime Eyelash Serum right for you? To help you decide, we’ll give you all the details on the key ingredients in this formula, as well as the research that supports (or doesn’t support) their use in skin care. We’ll also share some Dime Eyelash Serum reviews so that you can get an idea of what customers really think of this product.

Is Dime Eyelash Serum Right For You?

Before we get into the details, here’s the TL;DR if you just want to know whether or not Dime Eyelash Serum is right for you.

  • Key ingredients? Amino Acids, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4
  • Texture? Serum
  • Fragrance? No
  • Cruelty free? Yes
  • Cost? $44 USD for one 6 mL tube
  • EWG Rating? 1

What Are The Key Ingredients in Dime Eyelash Serum?

In order to determine how well Dime Eyelash Serum performs, we’ll have to evaluate the key ingredients in this formula. Let’s get started.

Amino Acids

Amino acids are used in Dime Eyelash Serum, but what’s confusing is that the brand doesn’t list the specific amino acids that are used in the formula. There are 20 different amino acids that make up proteins in the human body, so it would be nice to know which amino acids are used in Dime Eyelash Serum.

For instance, keratin is a protein found in the skin, nails, and hair (including eyelashes), and keratin is particularly rich in the amino acid cysteine. But is cysteine used in Dime Eyelash Serum? We think it should be, but it’s unclear since the brand doesn’t disclose which amino acids are used in the formula.

Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1

Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 is a peptide that promotes hair bulb keratinocyte proliferation and ensures optimal hair anchorage by stimulating the synthesis and organization of the adhesion molecules laminin 5 and collagen IV.

In simpler terms, this means Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 may help to promote stronger eyelashes that stay in place longer. However, these claims are based on in-vitro (test tube) studies by the manufacturer, so it’s unclear if these same results will occur in humans.

Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4

This is another peptide in the Dime Eyelash Serum, although we weren’t able to find much information on this ingredient. According to the brand, myristoyl pentapeptide-4 has been shown to improve keratin production which is a vital part of hair strength and health.

Once again, this sounds good in theory, but we’d like to see more research that proves what the brand claims this ingredient can do for eyelashes.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is one of our favorite skin care ingredients because it’s a potent antioxidant that provides many benefits to the skin. Unfortunately, these same effects don’t seem to apply to eyelashes.

According to a 2020 publication in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, topical niacinamide does not stimulate hair growth based on the existing body of evidence. So while the inclusion of niacinamide in Dime Eyelash Serum will not harm your hashes, it also won’t help them grow.

Humectants

Dime Eyelash Serum also contains high concentrations of several humectants, including glycerin, amino acids, panthenol, and aloe vera. Humectants bind moisture, which hydrates and plumps the look of eyelashes.

How to Use Dime Eyelash Serum?

Apply Dime Eyelash Serum nightly to the base of the upper and lower eyelashes. Continue using it to aid the condition and appearance of your lashes. Apply every other day if a mild tingling sensation occurs.

Where to Buy Dime Eyelash Serum?

Dime Eyelash Serum and other Dime Beauty skin care products are sold on the brand’s website (dimebeautyco.com), as well as a few third party online retailers, such as safeandchic.com and walmart.com.

How Much is Dime Eyelash Serum?

Dime Eyelash Serum costs $44 USD for one 6 mL tube on the brand’s website. If you subscribe to receive Dime Eyelash Serum at a set interval (30, 45, 60, 75, or 90 days), you can receive a 15% discount.

What is The  Dime Beauty Return Policy?

The Dime Beauty return policy states, “DIME has a 60-day return policy, from the time of package arrival. We also have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and our number one goal is your satisfaction. We will do all that we can to make sure that happens within our guidelines. You are welcome to try out DIME skincare products for this 60 day time period. Yes, Dime Beauty is cruelty free.

Dime Eyelash Serum Reviews

Dime Eyelash Serum reviews on the brand’s website are overall very positive, with the product receiving an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars after nearly 5,000 customer reviews.

There are many 5-star reviews for Dime Eyelash Serum from customers who love that it helps eyelashes to look fuller and longer.

For example, one Dime Eyelash Serum review says, “Love the Dime Eyelash Serum. Applied it every night and my lashes are looking longer than before. Definitely recommend this product to anyone who is in need of a serum that actually does the job!! Would buy again!”

And another 5-star review says, “I was totally influenced by bloggers to try this out and I am so glad I was!! I have pretty short, nubby eyelashes and I’ve only been using this product for almost 3 weeks and I can already tell the difference!! My lashes are a lot fuller and are starting to get longer! I also have been putting the extra that’s on the brush on my eyebrows and within a week I had a bunch of little hair pop up! If you’ve been on the fence about this, definitely get it!”

However, there are a handful of negative Dime Eyelash Serum reviews from customers who were disappointed because they did not see any results, even after weeks of using the product daily.

For example, one review says, “I’ve used it twice a day for weeks and haven’t had any new hair growth. I’ll keep on using it for a while though and will change my review if it starts to work.”

And a similar 1-star Dime Eyelash Serum review says, “Been using it every day for a month and have not seen any results….”

Other negative Dime Eyelash Serum reviews are from customers who experienced irritation after using this product. For instance, one customer shared, “Sadly it caused irritation right away for me.”

Our Verdict

Overall, we think that Dime Eyelash Serum could help to improve the look of your eyelashes, but there are other eyelash serums on the market with ingredients that have more research to support their benefits.

Pros

  • Beneficial key ingredients (Amino Acids, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, humectants, etc.)
  • Many positive Dime Eyelash Serum reviews
  • Dime Beauty is cruelty free

Cons

  • The brand does not list which amino acids are used in the formula
  • Some ingredients (i.e. Myristoyl Pentapeptide-4 and niacinamide) don’t have evidence to support the brand’s claims
  • Some Dime Eyelash Serum reviews mention that the product didn’t work or it caused irritation

What Are Some Alternatives to  Dime Eyelash Serum?

If you’re looking for skin care products to address the signs of aging, one brand we recommend is Formulyst. Formulyst maximizes the use of powerful ingredients and minimizes the use of superficial ones, resulting in clinically advanced skin care solutions that help promote healthy, more youthful-looking skin.

One example is Formulyst’s Anti-Wrinkle Peptide Serum, which contains six rejuvenating peptides that work together to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by increasing collagen production. The peptides are combined in a base of several potent hydrating ingredients, including glycerin, Chondrus Crispus extract, and sodium hyaluronate.

Another brand that balances the power of plants with cutting edge science is Carrot & Stick. Not only is Carrot & Stick good for your skin, it is also good for the environment as the formulas skip harmful chemicals commonly found in skincare products.
