Korean and Asian skincare has been a growing trend in the industry for several years, for a number of reasons. Focused on restoration and hydration, the ideals of the korean skincare routine appeal to most skin types, especially those with dry, sensitive or combination skin types. So today, we’re looking at a brand that offers some of the most quintessential components of the korean skincare routine, in one complete system. So today we’re going through each step in this Atomy Skin care 6 System to give you an idea of what to expect.

What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2019?

About the Brand

Atomy Skin Care is a Korean beauty brand that offers everything from supplements to makeup, but focuses mostly on providing inclusive skincare sets. These organized sets create an all-in-one routine that you can use morning and night. There are a number of brands that do work best when used in conjunction with the rest of their line, and this is certainly one of them. Each step in their routine combines a number of beneficial and scientifically backed ingredients so that the entire system works together to clean, hydrate and prevent the signs of aging.

A Look At the Regimen

The Korean skincare routine is all about multiple, light layers of hydration In order to achieve that, the 6 step system from Atomy Skin Care features several different hydrating steps to create a super plump, super hydrating finish without being too heavy.

Toner

Like traditional asian-style toners, this product offers water-like hydration that is ultra lightweight and easy to layer. Unlike western toners, the toning step from Atomy Skin Care does not aim to exfoliate or include astringent ingredients. Instead of acting as an aggressive treatment, this step lightly hydrates in a way that is suitable for every skin type and won’t clog pores.

Essence

This is something that you likely won’t find at your local drugstore. Essences have yet to become mainstream in the Western skincare market, but they can offer some benefit to your routine. Essences are slightly more viscous liquids that help to continue the hydrating effects that the toner has created.

Lotion

This is another Korean skincare staple that differs from its western counterpart. Asian lotions and emulsions are the hybrid product between a moisturizers and essences. The texture you can expect from this is a lightweight, creamy, almost gel-like consistency that works for almost every skin type since it’s so much lighter than a traditional moisturizer.

Moisturizer

Speaking of traditional moisturizers, if you need a more creamy, moisturizing step to fill out your routine, the moisturizer from Atomy Skin Care will fill the bill. This is thicker than any of the previous steps that we’ve mentioned so far, and it’s meant to be the last step in your skincare routine to seal in all of the lighter layers that you’ve previously applied.

Eye Cream

With the rest of your face taken care of, you can’t neglect the eye area. The skin around your eyes is much more delicate and sensitive compared to the rest of your face, so it makes sense to treat this area with care. Additionally, most people start to notice fine lines and wrinkles around their eyes first, so it’s important to keep this area hydrated and plump.

BB Cream

One of the ways in which this system is so unique is the inclusion of a bb cream, which also contains SPF. One coat of this and you’ve tickled off multiple boxes and can feel confident and prepared to head out the door.

Formula Focus

This formula contains a combination of synthetic ingredients, as well as many different botanical extracts. Beginning with the base ingredients that are used in these products, the first things you’ll see may not be the easiest to understand. Most of the base ingredients for each formula contain water, glycerin, silicones, butylene glycol, alcohol as well as addition components like isohexadecane, triethylhexanoin, and hydrogenated C6-14 olefin polymers. Almost all of these serve a similar purpose: the make each product cosmetically elegant. This is all about enhancing the texture, helping products sink in quicker and conditioning the skin. But There are those that have issues with these ingredients and prefer not to use them. By and large, most of these are safe synthetics, but if you prefer not to use alcohols for instance, this may not be the brand for you. Atomy Skin Care is not a green beauty brand by any means, so they due utilize a range of synthetic chemical compounds.

Moving on the the star of the show however, the 6 Step Skincare System from Atomy Skin Care focused heavily on the inclusion of fermented ingredients and botanical extracts. This includes all types of ingredients including rice ferment extract, black yeast beta-glucan, phellinus linteus paecilomyces japonica, and diospyros kaki leaf extracts..

Starting off with the rice ferment extract, fermented ingredients in general have been a major trend in Korean and Asian skincare over the past year. The fermentation process boosts the efficacy of almost any ingredient, making it even more potent and beneficial for the skin. Additionally, rice extract on it’s own has a full list of skin benefits. Rice bran oil, rice oil and rice extract has been using in Asian beauty rituals for centuries, and is continued to be included in formulations today. Rice extract is an excellent skin softening ingredient, but unlike other skin softeners like AHAs, there is no exfoliation, and therefore, no irritation. This ingredient is also very well tolerated by most, even those with sensitive skin types. But, this ingredient doesn’t stop here. The fermented rice extract that is used in this formula also employs a specialized crystallized technology to effectively preserve the beneficial components of brown rice and further maintain skin’s transparency and elasticity.

Moving on to the other extracts included in these formulas, Atomy Skin Care uses advances in science and technology to boost the effects of all of these extracts. Starting off with Black Yeast Beta-glucan, this natural moisturizing factor is made up of fermented grains which can help to maintain the overall health and wellbeing of your skin. Japonica Root extract has been a key component of traditional Korean herbal medicine for centuries due to its healing properties. In this formula, the Japonica Root is fermented to further improve skin’s vitality and help with elasticity and firmness as well. And finally, we have Japanese Persimmon extracts. These extracts are high in vitamins, as well as flavonoids and antioxidants that research has shown can help with all types of skin concerns including skin brightening, pore care and even sebum control.

Review Recap

The only downside to this brand that we’ve seen is that unfortunately there are only a small handful of reviews available. Since their availability is relatively limited, especially those living in the U.S. and Europe, it can be difficult to find these products, let alone try and review them. Of the reviews we were able to find, both from the brand’s website as well as Amazon, almost all of them were positive. On the Atomy website, their 6 Step System has an overall rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars. On Amazon, reviewers were very pleased with the difference they noticed in their skin, as well as the convenience and value of having an entire skincare routine in one product. Reviewers saw an increase in clarity, hydration and brightens while using this system and said they would continue to use this set in the future. But we’d love to hear from you! Have you tried this skincare system? Let us know in the comments below!

I’ve been using atomy for 5 years now and I love it. My skin type is oily but the cream moisturiser works for me. I really recommend The Nutrition Cream for acne and redness. Overall, I trust this brand.

I have been using Atomy produts for more than 3 years now.. I started using them because my face a lot of dark spots, I lived in Cancun, Mexico and my skin was sun damaged… After using this products my skin is light, can’t hardly see the dark spot and very moisturized.
I also used to spent a lot of money in creams and treatments… This is definetly Absolute Quality, Absolute Price…. Love it all

I had a bad experience on the atomy facial products, it caused a lot of pigmentation on my face, it takes long time to recover after I decided to stop using the product.
Anyhow I think it is a over price product with no such good effect as promoted.

I use the the atomy skincare for over a year, my mom is Korean and always buys it for me. I use so many of their skin care products from face washes to masks, to shampoo and conditioner. I love everything I have from them. The B.B. cream is amazing. And the toner and essence is amazing!!

I visit the local Korean/Asian markets or grocery stores often. My mom is Korean and way into skin care. I, however, was never one to
moisturize. She bought me a set ( 2 washes, toner, an acidic type peel gel, and a peel off mask) and ever since I have been hooked! A dramatically noticeable difference after even just the first step! I suggest everyone try it! Find your local market and get it. If not available they can order for you.
