MyChelle Sun Shield SPF 28
One of the brand’s best selling products is the MyChelle sunscreen, also known as MyChelle Sun Shield SPF 28. This is a mineral sunscreen that includes both titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to provide broad spectrum SPF 28 protection. This MyChelle sunscreen is lightweight and absorbs quickly for a smooth, clear and matte finish.

MyChelle Perfect C Eye Cream
MyChelle Perfect C Eye Cream is a brightening eye cream that is said to deliver nutrients and moisture to the skin in order to deeply nourish and help reduce the appearance of visible fine lines.

MyChelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser
The final best selling MyChelle Skin Care product we’ll be discussing is the Fruit Enzyme Cleanser. This MyChelle cleanser is said to gently remove dull, dead skin cells to promote healthy-looking skin, as well as purify pores to improve the skin’s texture for a radiant complexion.

What are the key MyChelle Skin Care ingredients?

First, let’s discuss what ingredients you won’t find in MyChelle Skin Care products since that can be just as important as the ingredients that are in the products. All MyChelle products are vegetarian and free of phthalates, parabens, petroleum, sulfates, ureas, artificial fragrances and colors. There really isn’t one key ingredient that’s used throughout the MyChelle Skin Care line, so we’ll be discussing the key ingredients found in the best selling MyChelle Skin Care products we introduced above.

In addition to the sunscreen ingredients used in MyChelle Sun Shield SPF 28, this product contains plenty of beneficial ingredients to improve the look of your skin. For example, the formula contains high concentrations of allantoin and aloe vera leaf juice, which are both very moisturizing ingredients. Additionally, allantoin is a keratolytic, which means it has the ability to smooth skin through exfoliation of the top layer of dead skin cells. Aloe vera leaf juice is anti-inflammatory and can help soothe the skin, reduce redness, and calm irritation.

As the name implies, one of the key ingredients in MyChelle Perfect C Eye Cream is vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid). L-ascorbic acid is a potent antioxidant, which means it helps to protect the skin and important skin proteins (like collagen) against free radical damage. L-ascorbic acid not only protects collagen from free radical damage, but also stimulates the synthesis of new collagen in the skin. By increasing the amount of collagen in the skin, signs of aging will be diminished and the skin will appear more firm. Finally, L-ascorbic acid has the ability to reduce the appearance of dark spots and improve uneven skin tone.

Like most cleansers, the MyChelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser contains a mixture of surfactants, such as lauryl glucoside and decyl glucoside. A surfactant molecule contains one end that is hydrophilic (attracted to water) and one end that is lipophilic (attracted to oil). This allows surfactants to attract and suspends oils, dirt, and other impurities that have accumulated on the skin and wash them away, leaving the skin clean.

Although AHAs from fruit enzymes are said to be key ingredients in the MyChelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser, it should be noted that these ingredients are present in pretty low amounts. We know this because all of the fruit enzymes are listed after xanthan gum on the ingredient list.  Xanthan gum is a thickener that is generally used at a concentration of 1%, but as little as 0.1% can be used in many applications. This means you’re most likely getting less than 1% of these key ingredients, and that the formula mostly consists of the surfactants mentioned above along with water and glycerin.

Where is MyChelle Skin Care sold?

MyChelle Skin Care is sold on the brand’s website and at health stores throughout the United States, such as Whole Foods. You can find a location that sells MyChelle Skin Care products near you by using the store locator on the brand’s website.

Is MyChelle Skin Care cruelty free?

MyChelle Skin Care is cruelty free. The brand is PETA certified cruelty-free and also certified by Leaping Bunny.

Mychelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser Review

Mychelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser is a gentle, deep facial cleanser that is said to remove dull, dead skin cells to promote healthy-looking skin. There are two surfactants in this cleanser: lauryl glucoside and decyl glucoside. A surfactant molecule contains one end that is hydrophilic (attracted to water) and one end that is lipophilic (attracted to oil). This allows surfactants to attract and suspends oils, dirt, and other impurities that have accumulated on the skin and wash them away. The fruit enzymes in this cleanser come from pineapple fruit extract, which contains the proteolytic enzyme bromelain. Bromelain works by dissolving keratin, a protein that acts as a glue to keep dead skin cells together. By dissolving keratin, bromelain helps to unclog pores and exfoliate the top layer of dead skin cells, leaving skin looking brighter with a more even tone. Bromelain also has anti-inflammatory properties.

Another beneficial ingredient in the Mychelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser is Vaccinium Myrtillus (bilberry) fruit/leaf extract. Bilberry is one of the best sources of compounds known as anthocyanins, which have potent antioxidant properties. Antioxidants work by limiting oxidative damage caused by free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. Bilberry extract also has calming properties and is known to strengthen skin against signs of redness. Of note, there are several ingredients in the Mychelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser that have the potential to aggravate the skin, including denatured alcohol and many fragrance ingredients. Denatured alcohol is well known to cause skin dryness, irritation, and even disruption of the skin barrier. The fragrance ingredients in this product include tangerine peel oil, orange fruit extract, lemon fruit extract, pink grapefruit peel oil, and limonene. These ingredients can cause sensitization and irritation.

INGREDIENTS

Mychelle Deep Repair Cream Review

Mychelle Deep Repair Cream is a facial moisturizer that is said to provide nourishment and hydration, as well as help prevent the visible signs of aging. One of the key ingredients in this cream is rosehip oil. Rosehip oil contains provitamin A, mostly as beta carotene. Beta carotene has the ability to increase cell turnover and promote regeneration in the outer layers of the skin. Over time, this can help even out skin tone and add a “glow” to the skin. All-trans retinoic acid (a vitamin A acid), another important component of rosehip oil, stimulates cellular regeneration and collagen production within the skin. This improves skin texture and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Rosehip oil is also rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is known to improve the skin’s barrier function and calm inflammation.

Another key ingredient in the Mychelle Deep Repair Cream is Ribes Nigrum (black currant) seed oil. Similar to rosehip oil, black currant seed oil contains a high concentration of GLA, which means it can further help to calm inflammation. This cream also features many types of antioxidants, such as kombucha tea, vitamin E, and goji berry extract. However, the jar packaging may render the antioxidant capability of these ingredients unstable due to exposure to light and air. Mychelle Deep Repair Cream is formulated without gluten, parabens, petroleum, phthalates, silicones, sulfates, ureas, artificial colors, and artificial fragrances. However, there are several fragrant oils in the Mychelle Deep Repair Cream, such as Citrus aurantium dulcis (bitter orange) flower oil and Pelargonium Graveolens (geranium) oil that can be skin sensitizers due to their volatile fragrance components.

Mychelle Perfect C Serum Review

Mychelle Perfect C Serum is a high potency vitamin C serum that contains 17% L-ascorbic acid (pure vitamin C). L-ascorbic acid exerts potent antioxidant activity by donating electrons to neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as the superoxide ion and peroxide that are generated when the skin is exposed to UV light. This is important because the harmful effects of ROS manifest as signs of premature skin aging, including fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, L-ascorbic acid helps to promote firmer, more youthful skin by stimulating the production of collagen. L-ascorbic acid is also known to brighten the complexion and help fade dark spots due to its ability to inhibit melanin synthesis. Melanin is a pigment that gives our skin color, but too much of this pigment can lead to undesirable dark spots called hyperpigmentation. L-ascorbic acid decreases melanin formation by inhibiting tyrosinase, an enzyme that is required for melanin synthesis.

Mychelle Perfect C Serum also features Buddleja plant stem cells, which contain verbascoside, isoverbascoside, leucosceptoside A, and martinoside. These components have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and photoprotective activity. Despite these beneficial ingredients, there are quite a few ingredients in the Mychelle Perfect C Serum that can potentially irritate the skin. For instance, alcohol is listed as the third highest concentration ingredient in this serum. High concentrations of alcohol can disrupt the skin barrier, leading to dryness and/or irritation. There are also several fragrant plant oils and fragrance ingredients (tangerine peel oil, lavender oil, pink grapefruit peel oil, linalool, limonene, citral, and geraniol) that are known to cause allergic reactions and skin irritation.

Mychelle Remarkable Retinal Serum Review

Mychelle Remarkable Retinal Serum is an anti-aging serum that is said to promote healthy skin renewal, help diminish skin discoloration (dark spots and blemishes), and minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This serum features a vitamin A derivative called IconicA® (Retinal), the first stable retinaldehyde in the industry. For any vitamin A derivative to be effective, it must first convert into retinoic acid. For example, you’re probably familiar with retinol, which must be converted to retinaldehyde and then to retinoic acid. IconicA® offers more effectiveness than retinol because it is one step closer to retinoic acid. Retinoic acid is clinically proven to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve uneven skin tone, restore skin firmness, and shrink the appearance of enlarged pores.

In addition to IconicA®, the Mychelle Remarkable Retinal Serum contains two more key ingredients: ceramide 3 and orange plant stem cells. Ceramide 3 is composed of a phytosphingosine base and stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid. Applying ceramide 3 to the skin helps to restore the skin’s barrier function. A strong barrier protects the skin from environmental irritants and also prevents excessive water loss. Orange plant stem cells organize the inner structure of the skin for a younger looking appearance. This ingredient also increases skin firmness, diminishes wrinkles, and helps to recover skin elasticity. Of note, there are several fragrant oils in the Mychelle Remarkable Retinal Serum, such as lavender oil, lemongrass oil, and lemon peel oil, that can be skin sensitizers due to their volatile fragrance components.
