Read on to learn about key ingredients in the Vasanti Brighten Up exfoliator, where Vasanti skin care is sold, Vasanti Brighten Up reviews from real customers, and a few alternatives for you to consider.
What are the key ingredients in Vasanti Brighten Up?
We mentioned above that Vasanti Brighten Up is a facial exfoliator, which means that it contains ingredients that will help to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliation is defined as “the process of removing dead skin cells from the outer layer of your skin,” according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
But did you know there are two types of exfoliation? You can exfoliate your skin through either physical or chemical exfoliation. Physical exfoliation, also referred to as mechanical exfoliation, utilizes an abrasive substance to scrub away dead skin cells through motion. Chemical exfoliation utilizes chemical agents to break up dead skin cells, allowing them to be washed away more easily. There are both physical and chemical exfoliants in Vasanti Brighten Up.
The key exfoliating ingredient in Vasanti Brighten Up is aluminum oxide, which is a crystalline compound of aluminum and oxygen. Because of its abrasive texture, aluminum oxide crystals are used to physically exfoliate and resurface the skin. In fact, aluminum oxide is commonly used in microdermabrasion treatments. Aluminum oxide can help to remove dull skin, smooth out coarse skin texture, reduce acne, soften fine lines, fade scars and dark spots, and stimulate cell turnover and collagen synthesis.
The Vasanti Brighten Up exfoliator also contains a small concentration of the chemical exfoliant papain, an enzyme extracted from the papaya fruit. Papain works on the surface of the skin to dissolve keratin, a protein found within skin that acts as a glue to keep skin cells together. By dissolving keratin, the papain enzyme helps to exfoliate the top layer of dead skin cells, leaving skin looking brighter with a more even tone. Exfoliating the skin also helps to prevent acne since the build up of dead skin cells can clog pores.
In addition to these two exfoliants, Vasanti Brighten Up also contains two surfactants derived from coconut: decyl glucoside and cocamidopropyl betaine. A surfactant molecule contains one end that is hydrophilic (attracted to water) and one end that is lipophilic (attracted to oil). This allows surfactants to attract and suspends oils, dirt, and other impurities that have accumulated on the skin and wash them away, leaving the skin clean. Since the Vasanti Brighten Up exfoliator contains surfactants, you can use this product to replace your regular cleanser a few times per week.
The final key ingredients in the Vasanti Brighten Up exfoliator are panthenol (provitamin B5) and aloe vera leaf juice, which both function as humectants. A humectant is a hygroscopic substance that has a molecular structure with several hydrophilic (water loving) groups. These hydrophilic groups hydrogen bond with water, essentially “grabbing” it and holding it on the skin. Humectants pull water from the dermis to the epidermis and stratum corneum. In addition, humectants can draw water vapor from the air to help moisturize the skin if the humidity is over 50 percent.
How to use Vasanti Brighten Up exfoliator
It is recommended to first wet your face, then massage a pea-sized amount of Vasanti Brighten Up in a circular motion, focusing on problem areas. Then, rinse with warm water and pat dry. You can use the Vasanti Brighten Up exfoliator 3 to 5 times a week.

Sheryl Buccino Original review: Jul 18, 2021.
I purchased the duo eyeliner and mascara that came with a tiny eye makeup remover. When the products arrived, the eyeliner tip was broken off and it fell on my couch and got black eyeliner all down the cushions and on the couch. I contacted vasani the next morning as it was after their closing hours. They do not answer their phones, so I left an email. When I finally got a response, they informed me it was up to me to take pictures, which was no possible because I had already thrown out the broken piece and then they said I had to return it first for a replacement or refund. It should NOT be up to the customer when the product came defective.
I’m very dissatisfied and will not purchase from this company ever again!
