Naturopathica skincare ingredients

Naturopathica uses a blend of natural ingredients and safe synthetics that work in harmony with the skin’s natural function. The brand never uses animal-derived ingredients, endocrine disruptors, petroleum-derived ingredients, silicones, or any other potentially toxic or known irritant. Naturopathica doesn’t focus on using just one key ingredient throughout all of their products, but rather uses a diverse range of ingredients. Below we’ll discuss a few of the key ingredients found in the bestselling Naturopathica skincare products we introduced above.

As we mentioned earlier, the Naturopathica sunscreen contains the mineral sunscreen zinc oxide. A supporting key ingredient is Thermus thermophilus ferment, an enzyme found 2,000 meters below sea level. Its naturally powerful moisturizing properties replenish and refresh the skin while helping visibly boost firmness.

The manuka honey in the Naturopathica Manuka Honey Cleansing Balm is produced by bees that feed on the manuka shrub of New Zealand’s remote North Island. It is raw honey that has not been processed, which means it is full of live enzymes and vitamins. Manuka honey provides anti-inflammatory effects and helps to reduce redness. It also promotes skin regeneration, repairs cellular damage, and inhibits MMP (a group of enzymes that destroy collagen).

The highest concentration ingredient in the Naturopathica Aloe Cleansing Gel is aloe vera leaf juice. Aloe is rich in vitamins and enzymes that help to brighten the skin tone. It also contains a rich supply of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), a class of sugar molecules that help bind moisture to the skin. GAGs are naturally found in human skin with a primary role of supporting the proteins collagen and elastin in the dermis. Collagen, elastin, and GAGs form the majority of an important support system called the extracellular matrix (ECM). GAGs readily absorb water, which creates the fluid that fills the space between collagen and elastin fibers in the dermis, giving it turgidity.

The Naturopathica Cherry Enzyme Peel includes a sweet cherry puree that is rich in antioxidants and vitamins to help nourish the skin. Lactic acid, a type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), is also included in this peel. AHAs exfoliate the skin by targeting corneocytes (dead skin cells that make up the stratum corneum) in a process called corneocyte desquamation. By enhancing their breakdown and increasing the separation of skin cells, the rate of cell turnover is increased, leading to smoother, more radiant skin.

The final key ingredient we’d like to discuss is carrot seed oil. Carrot seed oil is rich in antioxidants, such as beta carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Antioxidants work by neutralizing free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin.

Naturopathica Gotu Kola Intense Repair Balm Review

Naturopathica Gotu Kola Intense Repair Balm is a fast-melting facial salve that is said to hydrate skin due to its rich emollients. The name of this balm is based on the extract from the Centella Asiatica plant. Centella Asiatica, also known as gotu kola, is a perennial plant native to the wetlands in Asia. It is a rich source of natural bioactive substances, including triterpenoid saponins, flavonoids, phenolic acids, amino acids, and sugars. The most important compounds in gotu kola are asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid. The Centella asiatica leaf extract in Naturopathica Gotu Kola Intense Repair Balm should enhance moisturization, calm inflammation, and stimulate collagen synthesis after topical application.

Naturopathica Gotu Kola Intense Repair Balm also contains a high concentration of rich emollients like olive oil, sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, candelilla wax, and carnauba wax. Olive oil contains several types of fatty acids, notably oleic, palmitic, and linoleic acids. Oleic acid can improve the skin’s permeability and help other ingredients penetrate the skin more easily. The other fatty acids help to replenish the skin’s barrier function, which in turn protects the skin from environmental irritants and also prevents excessive water loss. Sunflower seed oil provides benefits such as helping to prevent clogged pores, decreasing inflammation, replenishing the skin’s barrier, and delivering other active ingredients deeper into the skin. Coconut oil helps to replenish the skin’s barrier while also providing antimicrobial effects. Lastly, candelilla wax and carnauba wax function as occlusive emollients, Both of these ingredients help to soften and soothe the skin by forming a protective film on the surface, which helps to prevent evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture. Over time, this increases skin hydration by causing buildup of water in the stratum corneum (the uppermost layer of skin).
