12.28.22DISCLAIMER

Inspired by the Noni Fruit, Kora Organics is all about effective, green beauty. But can clean, non-toxic products really perform as well as some of our more conventional options?

Today we’re going to be diving into this question by looking at a brand that aims to do just that. We’ll take a close look at their ingredients, a few of their most popular products as well as the formulas behind them to let you know whether it’s worth switching out your current product for a cleaner alternative. So without further adieu, let’s get started!

Kora Organics is transparent about ingredient origin, which is rare in the skincare

Behind the Brand

Founded in 2009 by supermodel, Miranda Kerr, Kora Organics was designed to be an all-natural, green beauty brand that demonstrates the idea that non-toxic beauty doesn’t mean ineffective. With hero ingredients that include noni fruit, rosehip seed oil. Green tea and sea buckthorn oil, the products from this range use active botanicals to yield impressive results. The brand is based in Australia but has stockists all over the world including Net-A-Porter and Sephora.

Kora Products

Here’s our top 4 fav Kora products:

Turmeric Glow Moisturizer
This is a hydrating formula with glyercine high up in the ingredient lists. Instead of silicones, it relies on natural butters like Butyrospermum Parkii Butter and Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter. It contains 13 plus oils that are rich in minerals, vitamins and other essentials. This is a nutrient rich product that is both nourishing and rejuvenating.

Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask
Tumeric is known for its brightening and anti inflammatory properties. Tumeric is combined with rosehip seed oil, which is rich in essential fatty acids. This is a mask that also acts as a physical exfoliator to gently shed away dead skin for a brighten complexion. It’s packed with impressive ingredients but not suitable for sensitive skin types due to the number of botanicals.

Noni Glow Face Oil
Probably one of the most well known products from the brand, the Noni Glow Face Oil contains all of the hero ingredients that this brand is centered around. With balancing oils that include noni fruit oil, rosehip seed oil and sea buckthorn oil, this facial oil helps to brighten and even out skin tone. This is another product where the results build overtime. In a customer product test, 87% of women noticed improved radiance and a brighter overall complexion. But, as usage continued for the next four weeks, these findings doubled and 100% of women found that their skin plumpness and elasticity had improved.

Noni Radiant Eye Oil
This is the newest release from Kora Organics. As an alternative to a heavier eye cream, this product is made up of mostly lightweight, dry oils like rosehip seed oil. So while it will sink into the skin quickly, the moisturizing properties will last on the skin much longer than you would typically expect. Additionally, this product is also ideal for all skin types, it just depends on how you use it. If you have combination or oily skin, this can replace your eye cream. But if you have dry skin, you could also choose to use this underneath your normal eye cream as an anti-aging, ulta moisturizing booster.

Inside the Ingredients

Demonstrating the power of oils in skincare is one of the central pillars of the Kora Organics message. They use organic, cold-pressed, unrefined oils in almost every single product in the range in impressively high concentrations. Of the oils that are at the forefront of Kora Organics products, the most active ingredients include noni fruit oil, rosehip seed oil and sea buckthorn seed oil.

Noni Fruit Oil/Extract
This is the star ingredient of the Kora Organics line. Noni fruit is typically typically found in extract form. This ingredient known mostly for it’s healing and regenerative properties. Like several other powerful, natural oils, noni fruit extract is high in antioxidants, so it’s going to help you ward off free radical damage. But what really sets this ingredient apart is how nutrient dense it is. Noni fruit contains more than 100 vitamins and minerals, including A and C, making it an incredibly well rounded treatment.

Rosehip Seed Oil
This oil has actually been having quite a moment in skincare recently. Although this ingredient definitely isn’t new to skincare lovers, it has been gaining quite a bit of hype in the anti-aging space recently. Rosehip seed oil is incredibly rich in Vitamin A, making it a great precursor to Retinol. So if you’d like to start using retinol but you’ve got sensitive skin or have never used a similar product before, rosehip seed oil can serve as an intro without the irritation.

Sea Buckthorn Oil
So many out there swear by this oil. Sea Buckthorn oil is an excellent all around oil that can help with a variety of skin issues. This oil is especially good for sensitive, easily irritated skin as it helps to calm irritated skin, soothes sunburn and reduces redness and inflammation. Additionally, this oil offers benefits that extend outside of the anti-inflammatory properties. Over time, this oil has been shown to fade acne scars and blemishes, making it a great treatment product for those with acne prone skin.

Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil Review

Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil is a rich treatment oil formulated with organic ingredients that is said to smooth, nourish, and brighten your skin. One of the key ingredients in this face oil is Rosa canina (rosehip) fruit oil, which is a rich source of beta carotene. Beta carotene has the ability to increase cell turnover and promote regeneration in the outer layers of the skin. Rosehip oil also contains all-trans retinoic acid (a vitamin A acid) that stimulates cellular regeneration and collagen production within the skin. This improves skin texture and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles. In addition, rosehip oil has a high content of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is known to improve the skin’s barrier function and calm inflammation.

Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil also includes Morinda Citrifolia (noni) fruit extract, which is known for nourishing and protecting the skin due to its abundance of vitamins – particularly A and C – and antioxidants. This face oil also includes a high concentration of jojoba oil, which improves the skin’s barrier function and helps to prevent transepidermal water loss. It also has proven anti-inflammatory effects and can provide soothing effects upon application. Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil is claimed to be fragrance-free because it “contains no artificial or synthetic fragrance”. However, there are many volatile fragrance constituents (derived from natural essential oils) in this face oil, including citronellol, geraniol, citral, and farnesol. It does not matter whether these ingredients are derived from a natural or synthetic source, they still have the potential to cause allergic reactions and skin irritation.

Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Balm Review

Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Balm is a moisturizing balm that is said to glide onto your face, providing skin with antioxidants and essential fatty acids. One of the key ingredients in this balm is coconut oil. Coconut oil is composed of many different types of fatty acids, primarily lauric acid, myristic acid, caprylic acid, and capric acid. Once applied to the skin, these fatty acids help to replenish the skin’s natural barrier function. A strong, intact barrier helps to prevent water loss, therefore keeping the skin hydrated and soft. The lauric acid in coconut oil exerts antimicrobial properties, which can help clear and prevent acne. Coconut oil is also rich in vitamin E, a lipid soluble antioxidant that protects the skin from free radicals.

Another key ingredient in the Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Balm is rosehip oil, a rich source of beta carotene. Beta carotene has the ability to increase cell turnover and promote regeneration in the outer layers of the skin. Over time, this can help even out skin tone and add a glow to the skin. Calendula officinalis (marigold) flower extract, another key ingredient, is packed with beneficial nutrients, notably triterpene saponins, flavonoids, and carotenoids. The flavonoids function as antioxidants, and the carotenoids moisturize and brighten skin. A final key ingredient is Morinda Citrifolia (noni) fruit extract, which is known for nourishing and protecting the skin due to its abundance of vitamins – particularly A and C – and antioxidants. Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Balm claims to be fragrance free because it “contains no artificial or synthetic fragrance”. However, there are many volatile fragrance constituents (derived from natural essential oils) in this balm, including citronellol, geraniol, citral, and methyl eugenol. It does not matter whether these ingredients are derived from a natural or synthetic source, they still have the potential to cause allergic reactions and skin irritation.
