The Story Behind Earth to Skin
Earth to Skin is a beauty brand that formulates skin care products all for under $10 exclusively sold at Walmart and Walmart.com. The brand’s definition of “clean” is no parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, mineral oil, sulfates, or gluten. However, as you’ll learn below, Earth to Skin is very far from a clean beauty brand. In fact, they use a lot of synthetic ingredients in their products — such as fragrance blends and dyes — that may be harmful to health! Keep scrolling to read more about these potentially harmful ingredients, as well as Earth to Skin reviews from real customers.
What Are The Best Selling Earth to Skin Products?
Earth to Skin currently offers four different skin care collections: Super Fruits, Super Greens, Tea Time, and Bee Infused. Below we’ll give you the details on the top five best selling Earth to Skin products.
Super Greens Cleanser
The brand’s most popular product is the Earth to Skin Super Greens Cleanser. This is a pretty standard cleanser that includes surfactants like coco-glucoside and lauramidopropyl betaine as the key ingredients. The cleanser also includes broccoli, cucumber, and kale extracts. However, we doubt these extracts are going to provide many benefits for your skin just because this is a rinse off product. Lastly, there are hydrating ingredients in this cleanser, such as glycerin and aloe vera.
Tea Time Anti Aging Night Cream
Earth to Skin Tea Time Anti Aging Night Cream is said to help tighten and firm the skin while also improving skin’s hydration. A few of the key ingredients you’ll find in this night cream include black tea, edelweiss, glycerin, squalane, vitamin E, jojoba oil, and olive oil.
Super Fruits Brightening Citrus Day Cream
Earth to Skin Super Fruits Brightening Citrus Day Cream is a lightweight, gel-like cream that is said to help illuminate the skin, replenish and retain moisture, and prep your skin for the day. A few of the key ingredients you’ll find in this day cream include vitamin C, lemon peel oil, glycerin, and squalane. It’s odd that Earth to Skin includes lemon peel oil as a key ingredient in this day cream (which, by the way, does not include any sunscreen). Why? Because lemon peel oil contains numerous fragrance chemicals that can cause a reaction when on skin that’s exposed to sunlight. Thus, if you want to try this Earth to Skin day cream, we’d recommend following it with a product that contains broad spectrum SPF 30 protection.
Super Fruits Banana Brightening Eye Cream
This Earth to Skin eye cream is a lightweight cream that is claimed to instantly reduce the signs of aging around the delicate eye area while also helping to reduce dark circles over time. A few of the key ingredients that you’ll find in the eye cream include banana extract, mango extract, shea butter, and squalane.
Honey Manuka Calming Face Cleanser
The final best selling product we’d like to introduce is the Earth to Skin Honey Manuka Calming Face Cleanser. Similar to the Earth to Skin Super Greens Cleanser, this cleanser contains surfactants as the key ingredients that help to wash away oil, makeup, and other impurities. The cleanser also contains honey and glycerin to attract moisture to your skin while you’re washing your face.
What Are The Key Ingredients in Earth to Skin?
In this section, we’ll discuss some of the key ingredients in Earth to Skin products, as well as a few problematic ingredients used in these formulations that we believe you need to know about before purchasing any products from this brand.
Earth to Skin makes it a point to call glycerin a key ingredient in all of their products. But just know that you’ll be hard pressed to find any skin care product that’s ever been created that does not contain glycerin (with the exception of facial oils). Glycerin is an extremely common ingredient, and we find it strange that the brand calls this a key ingredient. Regardless, glycerin can still offer some benefits to the skin. It’s a humectant, which means it attracts water and can help hold that moisture on your skin if it’s included in a leave-on product.
Another humectant used in several Earth to Skin products is honey. In addition to functioning as a humectant, honey also has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Honey’s antibacterial properties are great for those with acne prone skin since excess sebum and bacteria clogging pores is what causes a blemish to form. Since honey is anti-inflammatory, those who suffer with sensitivity or skin conditions such as eczema or rosacea may see a particular improvement. Lastly, honey contains varying concentrations of polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants.
The key ingredients found in the Earth to Skin cleansers are called surfactants. These include ingredients like lauryl glucoside, cocamidopropyl betaine, and many others. A surfactant molecule contains one end that is hydrophilic (attracted to water) and one end that is lipophilic (attracted to oil). This allows surfactants to attract and suspends oils, dirt, and other impurities that have accumulated on the skin and wash them away.
One thing we don’t like about Earth to Skin is that the brand aims to portray their products as “clean” and “natural”, yet they use a lot of synthetic ingredients in their formulations. There’s nothing inherently wrong with synthetic ingredients. In fact, some can be quite beneficial to the skin. However, there are some synthetic ingredients that may be harmful to health, such as the synthetic fragrance blends that are used in all Earth to Skin products.
The problem with the use of synthetic fragrance ingredients in skin care products is that the brand uses a proprietary blend of chemicals to create the fragrance, and they do not have to disclose which chemicals they use on the label. They are allowed to list this blend as “Fragrance (Parfum)” on the ingredient list. A 2018 study by Women’s Voices for the Earth
discovered that in over 3,000 chemicals reportedly used for fragrances, 1,242 were chemicals of concern – and that included at least 7 possible carcinogenic (cancer-causing) agents.
Earth to Skin also uses synthetic dyes in their products, such as Yellow 6 (CI 15985) and Yellow 5 (CI 19140), which have also been linked to health concerns. Overall, we think it’s pretty misleading for Earth to Skin to call themselves a “clean” beauty brand when they are possibly using chemicals that can be harmful to health!
Where are Earth to Skin Products Sold?
You cannot purchase Earth to Skin products directly from the brand’s website. Rather, you have to purchase them from Walmart.com. You can also purchase Earth to Skin products in Walmart’s physical locations.

I love the tea time duo mini but I went to order it and the price went up and the shipping was even worse. I’m so disappointed
