Styrene/acrylates copolymer is a synthetic polymer consisting of styrene and a monomer consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, or one of their simple esters. In cosmetics and personal care products, styrene/acrylates copolymer functions as a film former and opacifying agent. It can be found in products such as nail polish, sunscreen, moisturizers, body wash/cleanser, shampoo, eyeliner, and more. As an opacifying agent, styrene/acrylates copolymer can be added to clear or transparent cosmetic formulations to render them more resistant to visible light. Styrene/acrylates copolymer can also be used as a hair fixative polymer to hold the hair style in place and deliver shine to the hair.
