Pantethine is composed of two molecules of pantothenic acid, which is also known as vitamin B5. Pantothenic acid occurs naturally in many foods (meat, vegetables, whole grains, etc.), and helps the body convert carbohydrates into glucose, a major source of energy. In cosmetics and personal care products, pantethine functions as a skin and hair conditioning agent. In addition, preliminary research shows that pantethine may help promote wound healing, alleviate facial acne, and reduce acne-related skin problems.
