Mangifera indica, also known as mango, is a species of flowering fruit tree that is native to India. It is part of the same family as sumac and poison ivy (Anacardiaceae). Extracts of the bark, leaves, stems, and unripe fruits have demonstrated antibiotic properties in vitro, and have been used in the Ayurvedic and indigenous medical systems for over 4,000 years.
