We’ll answer these questions and more in our URO Vaginal Probiotics review. Plus, we’ll share reviews from real customers so that you can get their take on what results to expect with this product.

What Are URO Vaginal Probiotics?

URO Vaginal Probiotics are actually a synbiotic supplement. Synbiotics are mixtures of probiotics (helpful bacteria) and prebiotics (non-digestible fibers that help these bacteria grow). These probiotics and prebiotics work together to support healthy vaginal pH, odor, yeast balance, and flora.

What Are The URO Vaginal Probiotics Ingredients?

URO Vaginal Probiotics contain a proprietary “V-Positiv Probiotic Blend” along with prebiotics.

Proprietary V-Positiv Probiotic Blend

This proprietary blend consists of four strains of vaginal probiotics, which are strains of beneficial bacteria found in healthy vaginas. The four strains include the following:

  • Lactobacillus Acidophilus
  • Lactobacillus Rhamnosus
  • Lactobacillus Reuteri
  • Lactobacillus Fermentum

As for the research on these probiotics, we found a review published in the journal Clinical Microbiology and Infection that set out to determine whether probiotics are effective agents for the treatment and/or prevention of bacterial vaginosis (BV).

The review states that clinical trials show that oral administration of L. acidophilus or Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus fermentum RC-14 for 2 months reduced the recurrences of BV, caused an increase in vaginal lactobacilli, and restored a normal vaginal microbiota.

However, the review also states that other clinical trials found no significant difference in the cure rate of BV when compared with the effect of a placebo or estrogen.

So how about yeast infections? Unfortunately, there’s only a few clinical studies on the efficacy of probiotics in fighting vaginal yeast infections, according to a 2020 publication in the journal Microorganisms.

The publication states, “probiotics are effective for the treatment and prevention of bacterial infections, they seem to be much less efficacious for the treatment and prevention of vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC).”

Furthermore, a 2021 publication in the journal Current Opinion in Pharmacology states that different Lactobacillus strains work well to reduce harmful bacteria, maintain the acidic microenvironment, inhibit the immune response, and ultimately restore the vaginal microecology.

The publication continues by saying, “However, the clinical data indicated that it is not sufficient to support the use of probiotics in the intervention of vulvovaginal candidiasis rather than bacterial vaginosis.”

Overall, this means there isn’t much research to support the efficacy of Lactobacillus probiotic strains for treating and/or preventing yeast infections.

XOS Prebiotics

The prebiotic in the URO Vaginal Probiotic supplement is called xylooligosaccharides (XOS). As a prebiotic, XOS acts as food for the probiotics to keep them active longer.

Are There Any URO Vaginal Probiotics Side Effects?

Like any dietary supplement, there is a possibility of experiencing side effects. The side effects that are typically associated with pre- and probiotic supplements include stomach upset, gas, diarrhea, or bloating.

Always consult with your healthcare provider before incorporating any supplements into your routine to ensure they align with your individual health needs and medical conditions.

URO Vaginal Probiotics Reviews

In our opinion, Amazon provides a more reliable source for genuine customer reviews compared to a brand’s official website.

On Amazon.com, URO Vaginal Probiotics has earned an average rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars after nearly 10,000 customer reviews.

There are many 5-star reviews for URO Vaginal Probiotics from customers who love that this product works fast (many customers noticed results within a week) and that it helps to reduce vaginal odor.

For example, one review says, “I do not review often but this product really impressed me. I was definitely struggling with odor ‘down there’. I bought Lume, which honestly I think made it worse. These pills are amazing. I noticed a difference within a week.”

And another 5-star review says, “Confidence in a little pink pill! Definitely recommend if you’re like me and your pH can be thrown off by intimacy with your partner! I don’t have to worry anymore and I feel much more confident and comfortable.”

However, there are a handful of negative URO Vaginal Probiotics reviews. Some of these negative reviews are from customers who experienced side effects, such as nausea, stomach upset, and diarrhea.

For example, one review says, “Unfortunately, my body did not react kindly to the probiotic. In the very beginning I was fine and then after maybe 5-6 hrs. I started to feel nauseous and running to the bathroom.”

Other 1-star reviews are from customers who experienced the opposite of what these probiotics are supposed to do, such as yeast infections and bad odor.

For example, one customer shared, “I took them for about 2 weeks and they completely threw my PH balance off, caused a yeast infection and a bad odor. Prior to taking them, I had never had a yeast infection or bad odor, I knew this was the only different thing that I was doing.”

Our Verdict

Overall, we think that URO Vaginal Probiotics show promising results for bacterial vaginosis, but there isn’t substantial research on the probiotics in this product for the prevention and/or treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (yeast infection).

Pros

  • Contains probiotics that may help with bacterial vaginosis based on current research
  • Reasonably priced
  • Many positive URO Vaginal Probiotics reviews
  • 60 day money back guarantee

Cons

  • No clinical trials for this product
  • Research states that vaginal probiotics are less effective for yeast infections
  • Some reviews mention side effects and adverse reactions

What Are Some Alternatives to URO Vaginal Probiotics?

If you’re looking for an alternative to URO Vaginal Probiotics, there’s similar probiotic supplements on the market, such as Happy V Prebiotic + Probiotic and Good Girl Probiotics.

Happy V Prebiotic + Probiotic contains 8 different probiotic strains, some of which are the same as URO. According to the brand, these bacteria strains and the inclusion of bacteriophagic prebiotics encourage the growth of beneficial bacteria, which makes Happy V different from other supplements on the market.

Good Girl Probiotics contains 9 different probiotic strains, and these probiotics add bacteria to the body to help maintain your acidic pH balance which in turn helps to support vaginal and urinary tract health.
