SKIN CARE REVIEWS

12.18.22DISCLAIMER

While some skincare products contain a cocktail of ingredients, a few are built around one or two super ingredients. Caudalie harnesses the power of grapes, and DermaDoctor taps into the vitamin C rich kakadu plum.

Former supermodel Josie Maran has built an entire beauty empire around argan oil. While you may have heard of grapes, vitamin C and argan oil in skincare, you may not be as familiar with truffles in skincare.

Truffles are starting to crop up in beauty products such as Philip B White Truffle Ultra Rich Moisturizing Shampoo, while truffles give a distinct musky scent to Valentina Eau de Parfum, as well as Tom Ford Extreme Eau de Toilette. Skin & Co also has a truffle based collection, including the Umbrian Truffle Body Lotion.

Truffles are also the driving force behind the skincare company Truffoire, which has built its collection around two types of truffles – black and white varieties. If you’re a foodie you know that truffles are incredibly expensive and are used sparingly in dishes – they are shaved over dishes like risotto and chicken. The same hefty price tags apply to Truffoire products. Here’s a look at the brand, what Truffoire sells and whether it’s right for you.

Is Truffoire Skincare Worth The Money?

A common question about this brand is if the products are worth the cost. Truffoire products are expensive, for example, the Black Truffle Deep Renewal Vitamin C is $800.

In our opinion, Truffoire products aren’t worth the money, simply because there are other skincare brands that offer similar products that are less expensive.

One brand is Carrot & Stick, a clean skincare brand that perfectly balances the gentle nurturing of plants with the powerful results of innovative science.

What’s Inside Truffoire Skin Care?

Extracts of white and black truffles are the signature ingredients, and the formulas contain a mix of standard beauty ingredients such as vitamin C, peptides, and retinol. These ingredients should all be part of your skincare routine. Here’s why:

Vitamin C
We’ve been hearing for years that Vitamin C is the best anti-aging ingredient. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that protects the skin from free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin.

Vitamin C also helps fade dark spots, evens out skin tone, and increases radiance. As if that wasn’t enough, research suggests that when vitamin C is applied to the skin, it significantly reverses aging-related structural changes by influencing collagen and elastin synthesis.

It’s in the The Black Truffle Vitamin C Cleanser.

But our favorite Vitamin C serum is Carrot & Stick The Defence Serum. It contains 3 distinct types of Vitamin C that work together to help fight free radical damage. We recommend using it every morning.

Peptides
As you age, your body’s production of collagen and elastin slows down. These two proteins are responsible for your skin’s structural support. As a result, the skin loses its natural plumpness and smoothness.

While collagen is necessary for maintaining youthful-looking skin, the collagen protein is too large to absorb into the skin topically. That’s why applying skin care products that contain collagen won’t provide the anti-aging benefits you’re looking for.

This is where peptides come into action. Peptides are the building blocks of protein, and they are easily absorbed into the deeper layers of skin due to their smaller size.

The Truffoire Volcanic Collection includes peptides as key ingredients.

If you’re looking for a peptide serum, we recommend Carrot & Stick The Repair Serum. It contains 7 plant-based peptides to promote plumper and smoother-looking skin.

Retinol
Retinol is the go-to anti-aging ingredient recommended by dermatologists and skin experts. It’s clinically proven to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve uneven skin tone, restore skin firmness, and shrink the appearance of enlarged pores.

The only downside? Retinol can often lead to side effects like skin dryness, peeling, and irritation.

The Truffoire Volcanic Collection includes retinol as a key ingredient.

Use retinoids at night. We recommend this retinoid oil serum. It contains Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, an ingredient that provides similar benefits with less irritation.

What Is Truffoire?

Truffoire skincare company offers two collections based around its signature ingredient, truffles. The Black Collection contains tuber melanosporum (black truffle) extract while the White Collection is formulated with tuber aestivum (white truffle) extract. So why truffles? The company says that truffles have the ability to “renew the skin and increase its age-fighting capabilities.” Truffoire believes that truffles can help the skin repair itself and while defending it from environmental damage. Truffles are thought to be packed with essential fatty acids and protein, and also have antibacterial properties. They also cite how truffle products feel on the face. The company says it does not test its products on animals.

What Are Some of the Most Popular Truffoire Products?

There is no information available about the most popular or best-selling Truffoire products.

Where Can I Buy Truffoire Products?

Truffoire products are sold directly on the company website, and a few products are sold on Amazon. A few of the products are available on discounted retail websites such as Poshmark. The company website says that the products are also sold at state fairs and a handful of boutiques in Las Vegas, and according to Yelp, there is a retail store in Hawaii.

How Much Do Truffoire Products Cost?

Truffoire products come with astronomical price tags. The Black Truffle Vitamin C Cleanser retails for $400, while the Black Truffle Instant Repair Syringe sells for $1,250. The Black Truffle Illuminating Facial & Eye Mask sells for $3,000, while the Diamond Truffle Lifting Essence will set you back $1,800. By comparison, Guerlain’s Orchidée Impériale serum sells for $510 and its Orchidée Impériale Black Day Cream is $1,340.

Do Truffoire Products Work?

When trying to decide if a product works, it’s important to keep in mind that everyone’s skin may react differently to the same product. One cream that leaves a person with glowing, refreshed looking skin may cause breakouts in another person, or do nothing at all, so a little trial and error is always needed when finding the right products for yourself.

But it is hard to determine how well Truffoire products work given the lack of customer reviews available. Truffoire’s Facebook page has only around 2,500 followers. The Black Truffle Instant Repair Syringe has only two reviews on Amazon. One customer writes, “The group that convincingly talked me into trying and buying eye cream in a black syringe were a bunch of con artists and I am stupid and gullible to even listen to them and bought the product and more. Did not work when I use it at home” while the second review says, “A dab of this product was put on my under eye area and dramatically improved the appearance. It lasted for the rest of the day and was comfortable… I did not buy it yet, but am planning to, after there is more experience published about it.”

There are a handful of beauty blogger reviews. Creative Fashion Blogger doesn’t go into much depth but liked the Black Truffle Vitamin C Cleanser, writing “I really liked this one. Apart from Truffle Extract, this product was also made of ascorbic acid and amino acids.” A blogger at Beauty Frizz also had a positive review- “The White Truffle Eye Cream is buttery smooth to the touch, and it’s pretty lightweight. I actually loved this cream.”

Truffoire’s own website has some reviews but they are combined with customer service Q&As, where feedback includes, “I tried your product while out in Palm Desert, the Black Truffle instant repair syringe and had amazing results! Where can I purchase it in San Diego, Ca?”

The 18 reviews on Yelp are decidedly mixed, with customers mostly complaining about heavy handed sales pressure. Reviews include “Unfortunately it’s a scam. I’m still up in the air as to if the products actually work, but the means by which they go about pressuring you into buying the items is less than professional” to “Best experience ever! I’ve been using the past few weeks Truffoire facial cream and I’m truly recommending this amazing company products! Since I started using it, my face feels like silk yea !”

Similar complaints can be found on TripAdvisor and the company gets a score of “F” from the Better Business Bureau, largely due to the lack of refund policy.

What Are Some Alternatives to Truffoire?

If you’re looking for skincare products to address the signs of aging, we recommend Carrot & Stick. Carrot & Stick maximizes the use of powerful ingredients and minimizes the use of superficial ones, resulting in advanced skincare solutions that help promote healthy, more youthful-looking skin. We recommend The Repair Serum, followed by The Moisturizer.

My friend and I were lured in the store by giving us a free makeup sponge.
The woman was really nice and slightly pushy.
We both bought the Black Truffle instant repair syringe and daytime face moisturizer. We only paid $150.00 for both products. We don’t feel too bad with the price.
We don’t know if it’ll continue to work, as we just bought yesterday, in Las Vegas. But, it worked great when the woman used it on us in the store. Instantly, our eye wrinkles disappeared.

My sister and I were walking by the Truffoire store in Hawaii when a salesperson outside of the store offered us a chocolate and a sample of their product. We did go into the store and a beautiful young saleswoman applied a cream under our eyes while both complimenting and insulting our skincare. My sister is 65 years old and I am 68 years old and people usually think we are younger than that. The eye cream seemed to firm up skin around our eyes. The price dropped considerably from over 1k to around $200 and we thought why not? Another high pressure saleswoman, obviously a Botox and lip filler consumer, tried a heat and cooling device on our faces. She quoted an astronomical price which she lowered to 1k and then $750. We did not purchase this and left the store. By the time we returned to our hotel room, it was obvious that the cream applied under our eyes was some type of a firming mask which left pockets of skin and bubbles under our eyes. We immediately returned to the store and demanded a refund. The sales staff said we would have to come back because they were unable to process a refund due to a computer glitch. I immediately contacted my credit card company and miraculously while I was in the phone, they were able to issue our refunds. Never, ever again!

Got roped in by a bunch of well trained sales force. Is the product that great? Probably not any better than anything else that costs way less. If the product is so good why do you feel the need to strong arm people. I felt so embarrassed by the time I left because I was ripped apart very subtly about my aging skin which by the way is pretty darn good for age 55. Awful awful people. Don’t do it. Buy yourself something with good reviews and an affordable price tag. Con artists

I was in Hawaii and I was offered a sample as I was walking by the store. Was asked about my skin care. This led to a demonstration: a single dab on each eye of the black truffle instant repair syringe. I was impressed at the quick results. The wrinkles below my eyes smoothed out. Salesperson lowered the price from $1200 to $400. I still expressed doubts and asked a lot of questions and then he offered another 50% off. So, I bought it for $200. It’s supposed to last for 2.5 years. We’ll see.

I have invested with some scam brokers in the past, and the story is as horrific as the ones i have read because i went through the ordeal myself. I lost almost $80,000 USD to this unfortunate brokers, a friend referred me to Mr Jackson Evans that got me 80% of my money back, plus my accrued bonuses. Please stay clear of these scammers and if you have lost money you can still get your money back if you really want to, you can reach out to Jackson Evans at: {jacksonevans384 (@) gmail.com}. he will definitely help you in getting back your lost funds to any broker….. as mine was recovered too.

Unfortunately, and against my better judgement I fell for the scam and bought the Instant repair syringe. Whatever the con artist salesperson used on me at the expo center where they were selling this stuff, it wasn’t what I ended up purchasing. A high pressure pitch combined with a demo that instanty smoothed out my under eye area and in between my brows resulted in me forking over al ot of cash. It wasn’t until my card was charged that I noticed it said no returns, no money back. Don’t buy it, it doesn’t work!

I purchased products in Hawaii. The moisturizer proved inadequate for my skin in the cold dry Colorado winter. The serums didn’t give promised results despite following prescribed regimens and I was very very disappointed. I was never able to reach anyone at the store or at customer service about a refund! No response by email. Calls went to voicemail and never a return call.

I have tried the Black Truffle Instant Repair Syringe and found it very effective on my first trial, so had purchase a tube. On the spot I did not realize there is no security seal on the box. When I went home to put on the product, I realize the product from my new tube was slightly different in both the content and effect. Would like to know if the product have any manufacture/exhiry date on the product container or package box, and any security seal to ensure the quality of the product. Appreciate an urgent reply to clarify from the product manufacturer.

I’ve got to say that this does really work. What is said about aggressive sales tactics is true, at least in my case when I was approached in a shopping mall to come into their pop up store (which is no longer there). This tactic and the ludicriously expensive price tag were cause for hesitancy. However, the man applied some underneath one eye with a Q tip and all the dark puffiness disappeared after about a minute. It was a drastic difference from the untreated eye. I was convinced but really worked to bring down the $1,000!!!!! price tag, saying I’d buy the syringe right now, but not for more than $200. Sold. It’s still not cheap, but according to their ingredients and claims, the tint not only cosmetically helps the look, but the ingredients are doing their job to strengthen elasticity and allow anti-aging agents to absorb into the skin. I’m ordering my third syringe now. The other thing is that a little goes a long way; however, the not so effective plunger can “shoot” more out than needed, which is a waste.

I was introduced to Truffoire at a home show in Fredericksburg, VA last month. I allowed myself to be drawn in by an assertive saleswoman who asked if she could try something on my skin. She complemented my skin and told me she would put this serum under one eye to show how it lightened and tightened the dark circles. To my amazement, in just a few moments, it really worked! I was excited and wanted to know how much the product (Black Truffle Instant Repair Syringe) cost. My mouth dropped open when she told me $1250.00, so she whipped out a calculator and brought the price down to $400. I repeatedly said that I was not buying that day but would like a sample to take home and try on my husband, who also has dark under eye circles. She gave me a sample of White Truffle face cream, which was not what I asked for. The whole experience was confusing and disappointing. The Instant Repair Syringe really seems to work, so why can’t they give you a sample of it? Also, why wouldn’t they want to just sell the product at the lower price so they can get many more customers to purchase? I really wanted my husband to try it, and we probable would have bought it for $400. These people know nothing about marketing!

Just left the Matthew’s Spa in Mall Saint Matthews, Louisville and I feel confused. Highly predatory sales practices. Associate was standing by the store entrance, and I was walking by. She stuck a sample in my hand, and started talking lightening speed. I should’ve run away! Before I knew it, I dropped $70 on a face mask that went from $300 to $70 within seconds. Meanwhile I was being complimented, and insulted simultaneously.

When I escaped, after saying that I wanted to leave several times after my purchase, I immediately called my credit card, and canceled for fear she would charge more.

That was a terrible experience. I feel stupid.

We lost my grandmother earlier this year, and my mother and I spent several weeks living in her home (out of state), as we worked in settling her affairs. I hadn’t bothered to bring a face cream, since we flew and I figured I could get some later. But grandmom had a bunch of face creams, so waste not want not, right? Better to use them up than throw them out. She had a whole bunch of this Truffoire stuff, and most of it felt like crap on my face, but the white truffle orchid silk mask felt very nice, moisturizing and lightweight, and not sticky or oily at all. So I started using that as my daily face cream (I mean it’s not like there are instructions printed on the bottle or anything) and I didn’t think much on it beyond that. This morning I got to wondering what was actually in the stuff (because that’s not printed on the bottle either), so I googled it- HOLY SHIT, SHE SPENT HOW MUCH???????? I was expecting something in the neighborhood of $60-80, but TWO THOUSAND AND SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS???????? FOR FACE CREAM????????? She would have bought it in store; there’s a Truffoire outlet at the flea market near her place, so I highly doubt she payed what it’s listed for on their website. More likely, there was a “special sale” as others have mentioned offering a steep “discount”. In any case, I CERTAINLY won’t be replenishing when I’ve used it up- it feels nice, sure, but everything I’m reading about this company indicates that it’s wildly overpriced snake oil. I’m certain I can find a cream that feels exactly as nice without paying hundreds of dollars for it, and even if I can’t- oh well, I guess I’ll just get wrinkles.

Worst/ best salesman in the world. So much pressure… I had also had a few drinks. It’s my own fault, and before I knew it… he put a bag of stuff in my hand and demanded $500. I didn’t know what was happening, and thought… did I just say yes? I was so overwhelmed that I didn’t know how to say no. I’ll never put myself in that situation again. I received a lot of their product, and use it. I don’t think it seems to be any better than some other $60 products I have purchased. I feel like a fool.

I just bought the black truffle instant repair syringe and the white truffle facial peeling. The changes under my eyes were dramatic. Nothing I had tried in the past worked. The sales person was very nice and not pushy at all. I even said I’ll think about it and maybe come back and she was still very nice about it. But as I sat there a few minutes waiting for the demonstrations I really liked the results and decided to buy. So far I love it! Will be a repeat customer.

When I used them at home, I didn’t have the same feeling or effect as when they were tested in the store. I came to think that they sold me something different from what they tested me. But the worst part was that I activated my rosacea tremendously, my skin became red and inflamed, as if it had burned and did not improve until a week after I stopped using it. I haven’t gotten my money back yet, I’ve been insisting for 3 weeks to do it.

Black Truffle Instant Repair Syringe definitely works! Have been buying it whenever I visit Las Vegas for three years now. I apply it twice a week and it instantly flattens the puffy bags under my eyes. I have started using the White Truffle Eye Cream for the upper lid. It is very soothing but does not have the dramatic toning like the Repair Syringe. I will continue to buy both.

  • Linda Original review: Apr 11, 2019. Reply

I, too, had the pushy salesman. The Black Truffle Instant Repair Syringe product was applied and worked great. It is NOT the product he claimed stating use of it weekly and then monthly would result in permanent changes. That is not t he case, however, I continue to use the product when I’m going out and want to look a bit better than normal. It DOES work to shrink the bags under my eyes and other small wrinkles and lasts for the evening. Once you touch it or wash it off, the effect is gone. I didn’t really expect miracles, but I do enjoy putting it on and people do notice the difference. I would continue to buy that product; but definitely not at their original price. There are other things out there.

Very pushy sales guy that wouldn’t let me out of the chair even though I repeatedly said I had to get back to work and I didn’t want to purchase. He proceeded to insult my appearance and ask why I didn’t want to improve my skin. (my skin is pretty good….no one ever believes my age) When I was finally able to get out of the chair, and after he dropped the price three times, I again said sorry I have to go, he got angry and said why did I waste his time he has work to do too! Wow… When I got back to the office I Googled Truffoire and there are many complaints similar to mine. Plus the stuff he put on my skin didn’t do a dang thing but feel like dried glue pulling to make my skin “look” better….once I washed it off you couldn’t tell which side he applied the product to. Run, run away…don’t waste your time or money on this crap.

The person selling it was offering it to me along with some eye cream at a really reduced price, $249. At the time, I thought that was way too much to spend for something like that, but didn’t realize how well this product works! He showed me that online it sells for about $1,250 but I thought that couldn’t be true. I came home and looked it up and found out he was right! Sorry to say, I passed up the products for the deal he was giving me. The effects are noticeable and almost immediate. It seems to be a very good product, but I still wouldn’t pay $1,250.

Redflag number 1. The product appeared to have immediate results.
Redflag number 2. The price tag was $700 but could be immediately dropped to half to “buy now”
Redflag number 3 This is being sold in a mall.

These factors alone and mostly number 3 reminded me of any of the miracle hair growth products peddled on the back of most magazines.; if it worked it would be on the front page.
