SKIN CARE REVIEWS

02.01.24DISCLAIMER

For many adults, falling asleep can be a challenge due to various factors, such as stress, a disturbing environment, and irregular sleep patterns. Many people search for a sleep supplement that not only aids in falling asleep but also promotes uninterrupted rest throughout the night, ensuring they wake up feeling refreshed.

One supplement that promises to do exactly that is Relaxium Sleep. Designed by clinical neurologist Dr. Eric Ciliberti, M.D., Relaxium Sleep is said to help you fall asleep faster, sleep through the night, wake up completely refreshed, and enhance focus and concentration.

So can Relaxium Sleep really provide all of these benefits? To answer this question, keep reading for our comprehensive Relaxium Sleep review.

We’ll evaluate the formula to see if the ingredients are backed by science and if they are used in effective doses for optimal results. We’ll also share if there’s any side effects to look out for.

Lastly, we’ll share some Relaxium Sleep reviews from real customers so that you can get their take on the benefits (and potential side effects) of this product.

What Are The Relaxium Sleep Ingredients?

In order to determine how well Relaxium Sleep performs, we’ll have to evaluate the key ingredients in this formula. Let’s get started.

Magnesium (100 mg)

Magnesium plays an important role in regulating sleep because it helps to activate neurotransmitters that are involved in the parasympathetic nervous system, the system responsible for calming the body and mind.

Additionally, magnesium is involved in the regulation of the body’s internal clock and helps maintain healthy levels of the sleep hormone melatonin.

There’s three forms of magnesium used in Relaxium Sleep:

  • Magnesium oxide
  • Magnesium citrate
  • Magnesium bisglycinate

Magnesium oxide is commonly used in supplements, however, it has low bioavailability, meaning the body absorbs it less efficiently. It’s often used as a laxative due to its ability to draw water into the intestines.

Magnesium citrate is more bioavailable than magnesium oxide and is known for its laxative effect, making it a good choice to relieve constipation.

Magnesium bisglycinate is considered one of the most bioavailable forms of magnesium, it’s highly absorbable and gentle on the stomach. This form may provide benefits like enhancing relaxation, reducing stress, and improving sleep quality.

In a study published in the Journal of Research in Medical Sciences, older adults received either 500 mg of magnesium or a placebo, resulting in better overall sleep quality observed in the magnesium group.

However, the magnesium dosage in Relaxium Sleep (100 mg) is significantly lower than the typical magnesium dosage.

L-Tryptophan (500 mg)

L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that’s naturally found in certain foods like red meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy.

L-Tryptophan can help improve sleep by increasing the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and promotes relaxation. Serotonin is then converted into melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles.

Supplementing L-Tryptophan has been shown in studies to improve sleep quality, but at doses higher than in the Relaxium Sleep supplement. According to a 2022 meta analysis in the journal Nutrition Reviews, doses greater than or equal to 1,000 mg (1 g) can help improve sleep quality.

Valerest (228.9 mg)

One ingredient that’s exclusive to Relaxium Sleep is called Valerest, Dr. Ciliberti’s proprietary blend of valerian and hops extracts.

Valerian is believed to enhance relaxation and promote better sleep by increasing the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that helps regulate nerve cells and calm anxiety.

Similarly, hops contain compounds like humulones and lupulones that may help reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality by acting on GABA receptors in the brain.

Ashwagandha (125 mg)

Ashwagandha is an excellent addition to the Relaxium Sleep formula because it functions as an adaptogen. This means it works to counteract the harmful effects of stress in the body by lowering levels of the “stress hormone,” cortisol.

Results from numerous clinical trials demonstrate that ashwagandha extracts may help reduce stress and anxiety, as well as help with sleep.

GABA (100 mg)

GABA’s stress-reducing and sleep enhancing effects have been established, according to a 2020 publication in the journal Frontiers in Neuroscience

The publication continues by saying, “Doses ranging between 100 and 300 mg seem to be efficacious in reducing sleep latency with prolonged use of 1–4 weeks.”

Thus, the dose of GABA in Relaxium Sleep should be effective.

Chamomile (75 mg)

Chamomile is well known as a sleep-inducer, and it can also have positive effects on mood and anxiety.

A randomized controlled trial of 60 elderly people compared placebo capsules to 200 MG of a standardized chamomile extract taken twice daily. The chamomile group had significantly improved sleep quality as compared to the control group.

Plus, no side effects were reported in the chamomile group.

Passionflower (75 mg)

Passionflower is known for its ability to promote relaxation and ease anxiety, making it a popular natural remedy for improving sleep quality.

Melatonin (5 mg)

Melatonin supplements have been extensively studied for their ability to help people fall asleep faster and improve sleep quality.

For example, a 2022 systematic review of 23 randomized controlled trials concluded that melatonin had a significant effect on sleep quality.

What Are The Benefits of Relaxium Sleep?

After evaluating the Relaxium Sleep ingredients, we believe there are two main benefits you may notice with this supplement:

Calming The Body and Mind

Many ingredients in the Relaxium Sleep formula have research demonstrating their ability to promote feelings of calm and relaxation.

Better Sleep

All of the ingredients in Relaxium Sleep have been shown in studies to help people fall asleep faster and improve sleep quality.

What Are The Side Effects of Relaxium Sleep?

Like any dietary supplement, there is a possibility of experiencing side effects.

Based on the formulation, it may be possible to experience GI side effects, such as nausea, upset stomach, and/or diarrhea.

Melatonin may cause side effects such as feeling tired during the daytime, headache, dizziness, strange dreams or night sweats, among others, according to the NHS

Relaxium Sleep Reviews

In our opinion, Amazon provides a more reliable source for genuine customer reviews compared to a brand’s official website.

On Amazon.com, Relaxium Sleep has an average rating of 3.3 out of 5 stars after more than 18,000 customer reviews.

There are many 5-star reviews for Relaxium Sleep from customers who love that it helps them fall asleep faster and stay asleep throughout the night. Many customers mention that even if they have to get up during the night, they are able to fall right back asleep.

For example, one review says, “Works as Advertised, with no side effects, getting better sleep. Even when nature calls in the middle of the night I’m able to fall back to sleep again. Tried other over the counter sleep products that did nothing, but this product works for me.”

And another 5-star review says, “After two weeks of taking Relaxium Sleep, my husband has been sleeping from 10:30 to 6:30 or 7:00 am! Instead of waking up at three or four in the morning and not being able to get back to sleep.”

However, there are a handful of negative Relaxium Sleep reviews. The general consensus from the negative reviews is that this supplement either doesn’t work, leads to feeling groggy the next day, or causes unpleasant side effects.

For example, one review says, “Relaxium had me fall asleep right away and I slept 10-11 hours BUT I did not awaken refreshed, or with improved concentration. I was groggy.”

Another 1-star review says, “I have tried this for 2 weeks. It did not help me get to sleep faster or give me uninterrupted sleep. I also woke up tired.”

Our Verdict

Always consult with your healthcare provider before incorporating any supplements into your routine to ensure they align with your individual health needs and medical conditions.
