Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum is a lightweight, water-based serum that is said to help refine skin tone and texture for a brighter, healthier-looking complexion. The formula contains 10% niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3 that acts as a precursor to the coenzymes NADH and NADPH. These coenzymes play an important role in cellular metabolism, which means they provide skin cells with the energy needed to function properly. In addition, studies have shown that niacinamide can repair the skin barrier and improve skin moisture, as well as reduce inflammation, blotchiness, hyperpigmentation, acne, and wrinkling.

Besides niacinamide, the only other beneficial ingredients in Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum include glycerin and betaine. Glycerin functions as a humectant by drawing moisture into the upper layers of skin. Betaine functions as an osmolyte. As an osmolyte, the structure of betaine allows it to attract water and help to maintain cell water balance. This function of betaine is particularly important for skin cells that are dehydrated or exposed to UV radiation. Furthermore, the ability of glycerin and betaine to increase skin hydration has been shown to have an anti-wrinkle effect (although the effect is transient).
