Derma Roller - The Dermatology Review

Derma Roller

Piercing your skin with a bunch of tiny little needles, may not sound appealing at first, but do the cosmetic benefits of the dermaroller outweigh the negative? At first glance, a derma roller may appear to a miniature barbaric torture device, but it has in fact become one of the most innovative approaches to skincare treatment in years. Whilst the science behind derma roller is not impressive, the results are apparent. Perhaps not for wrinkles or signs of aging. But dermarollers are effective for superficial acne scarring, especially when used in conjuction with other non invasive cosmetic solutions. However, dermalrollers require multiple treatments before any you will any results. Due to the downtime associated with derma rollers, this may not be ideal choice for most people. Are you looking for derma roller reviews? So what is derma rolling all about?

Derma rollers are known to be an effective treatment against aging elements like wrinkles, fine lines and skin stretching. They can help to thicken the skin, smooth facial scars and diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The magic lies within the fine needles that penetrate the skin as it is rolled across the surface. The tiny pinpricks help to stimulate collagen and elastin production which aid in plumping the skin in problem areas such as laugh line areas or forehead wrinkles.

Derma rollers use needles of different sizes according to your cosmetic needs. Deep scars, wrinkles and stretch marks should utilize a roller containing a 0.5mm needle, whereas daily treatment for nutrient absorption of skincare products should try around a 0.2mm or 0.25. It is important to keep in mind that with extended and persistent use, the results get better and better. Collagen in the skin begins to wrap the facial surface with a fresh layer of radiant and younger looking skin. These results can normally be achieved in as little as 4-6 weeks.

Proven to increase chemical absorption up to 1000 times, derma rollers are commonly used along with skincare products such a moisturizers, anti-wrinkle or anti-aging creams, or even essential oils. As the holes are put in place, the product is able to penetrate the skin at a deeper level then just surface application causing the results to be more effective and promising. Instead of just sitting on the surface, skincare products are able to be fully absorbed in multiple layers of skin as opposed to just one.

There are various benefits to utilizing a cosmetic breakthrough like derma rollers. Not only do they make it easier for serum absorption- such as the application of a anti-aging cream- but they are also extremely easy to use in the comfort of your own home. Results can be achieved by a simple rolling procedure. There is virtually no pain or permanent damage to the facial skin. They can be used on nearly any part of the body.

Some may be discouraged by the thought of their facial skin harboring hundreds of tiny holes, but derma rollers leave the epidermis fully intact. The tiny holes close within just a few hours of application. Within those few hours, the skin’s lower layers are able produce new collagen structures giving the skin a rejuvenated, younger appearance. Price-efficient and simplistic, derma rollers have become quite a popular form of skincare treatment. Barbaric in appearance, but effective in results, derma rollers are a beneficial addition to any skincare regime. But before you rush into buying a dermaroller, we strongly recommend looking at newer and better laser and skin care products.

I have been dermarolling for about 8 months with 1.5 needles. I actually bought 3 different sizes. My skin looks great for a day or two and then goes back to looking exactly the same as before. I have been trying to find before and after results that show improvement but to no avail. Recently I went to a dermatologist who wasn’t able to give me a direct answer about dermarolling ( typical of a dermatologist). There just isn’t any pictorial evidence out there that dermarollers work. The people on YouTube who demonstrate dermarolling for the most part have flawless skin; the few people who do have acne scarring show no improvement. Maybe some of the people who claim that it works should post before and after pictures.

You need to use 1.0 Derma Roller. It works wonders on my friends skin and I am about to start trying it out myself.

Derma roller is not effective for treating deep scars. Been there done that, it didn’t work.

    Hi Aubrey,

I realize this is a very late reply to your post but it’s never too late to try to repair your skin 🙂 I would recommend buying your own dermaroller. I found a great brand on amazon. I get better results with the titanium 1.0mm needles and it’s best to use it more frequently than not. You won’t see any results with 3 professional treatments because you need more maintenance. I think professional dermarolling is a scam if you can’t afford frequent treatments. I would do research, look at youtube videos on how to do it at home properly. Works great for me!

I guess you need to use the derma roller every night for three months to achieve results. I watched a YouTube video on myths of the dermaroller. Also you will not see results I’d you use anything smaller than .5 .. I have the 2.0 roller. Also use of numbing cream is not recommended before as it can cause nerve damaged if iver used,.. You really don’t need special serum or moisturizer. A basic emollient is all that is needed or water. I recommend doing this at night. Then SPF of course of 30 at least.

After three months.. Treatment goes to once a week for maintenance

I love the results I’ve gotten from dermal rolling! It removed scars I had on my face from childhood and made my skin look younger and better. I highly recommend trying this procedure!
