Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster is a concentrated self-tanning product that is intended to be added to your favorite day and/or night moisturizer to achieve a sun-kissed glow. Since you can decide how many drops you want to add, you can create your own custom color (although Clarins recommends three drops). The key tanning actives in Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster are dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and erythrulose. DHA can be derived from plant sources, such as sugar beets and sugar cane, and by the fermentation of glycerin. Erythrulose naturally occurs in red raspberries. Both tanning actives react chemically with the amino acids in the skin’s main protein keratin to produce a brown color change. However, erythrulose develops slower than DHA and provides more lasting color. Of note, Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster does list alcohol as the third highest concentration ingredient in this formula. Alcohol can disrupt the skin barrier, leading to dryness and/or irritation. However, since this product is meant to be mixed with a moisturizer, these effects may be counteracted by the ingredients in your moisturizer. Overall, Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster enables you to turn any moisturizer into a self-tanner in order to create a custom glow.
