One of their newest additions to their line is the Boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer. This new moisturizer features Queen of the Night Cactus, and features a smooth gel-like texture, which is excellent for those who are prone to congestion. But is it the right product for your skincare needs? Today we’re going to be going over all the details so you can decide for yourself whether this product is worth trying out. So without further adieu, let’s get started!
Who is the Boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer For?
The Boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer is designed for those with sensitive skin specifically, but the brand does state that this moisturizer is suitable for all skin types. With that said though, there are a number of things that make this better for some skin types than for other. Since this moisturizer has more of a light, gel-like texture, it may not be enough moisture and nourishment for those with dry skin.
Boscia Castus Water Moisturizer
The Castus Water Moisturizer is the newest addition to the Boscia skincare range, and it serves as an excellent watery gel-textured moisturizer for those who are looking for a lightweight hydrator. Plant extracts and oils from prickly pear and cactus have become a massive trend in skincare, but Boscia’s take is perfect for those who want all the benefits, without any risk of irritation or sensitivity.
This product contains a particularly rare from of cactus extract known as the Queen of the Night Succulent. This cactus only blooms between dusk and dawn one night each year, only to wither away hours later. But the properties from this succulent can be applied to skincare in order to help nourish and revive skin as well as intensely hydrate.
Along with Queen of the Night Cactus extract, this product also contains a peptide complex, which gives this product an anti-aging boost. The complex in this formula helps to repair the skin after UV damage has occurred, and also promotes skin smoothing and evening, making wrinkles appearance less noticeable over time.
As with all Boscia products, it’s important to note that this product is completely free of all preservatives, many of which can be incredibly damaging for those with sensitive skin. The brand has also banned a number of addition ingredients, including artificial fragrances, colorants, parabens, SLS and SLES and many more.
Looking more closely at the base of this formula, we start out with a blend of water, butylene glycol, glycerin, cyclopentasiloxane, and carbomer. All of these ingredients are incredibly popular ingredients in skincare and most work primarily as skin conditioners and texture enhancers to create that gel-like texture for all of the beneficial ingredients to reside in.
Moving on to the heart of this formula, there are a number of botanical compounds and plant extracts to help soothe and smooth out the skin. This includes chinaberry leaf and flower extracts, turmeric root extract, aloe vera flower extract, eggplant fruit extract, basil leaf extract, jojoba seed extract and of course, the cactus extract for which the product was created around. Each of these different extracts has a number of beneficial properties. For example turmeric has been used for centuries as a skin brightening ingredient, but it also an help to reduce acne and acne scarring due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Outside of these ingredients, the formula as a whole is rather simple. Because Boscia does design their products with sensitive skin in mind, you’ll find that many of their ingredients lists are rather minimal, and feature a heavy dosage of botanical extracts in order to deliver those calming and soothing benefits.
How To Use the Boscia Cactus Water Moisturizer
This product is fairly easy to incorporate into your current skincare routine. After washing your face, apply the gel moisturizer morning and night and gently smooth into the skin. Some also found that this product served as a great priming moisturizer prior to makeup application, so there’s no need to follow up with a seperate primer.
Although this product is still relatively new, it is definitely on its way to becoming a fan favorite. On Sephora’s website, this product already has over 1500 reviews and an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Those with both dry and oily skin said that this product was intensely hydrating and moisturizing, yet still remained lightweight and non-pore clogging. But we’d love to hear from you!
